Recorded the Berlin performance on November 2, 1972 on a stereo sound board from the FM broadcast master. Speaking of Adderley, the image of “Something Els / Autumn Leaves” is strong, but at this time the jazz world began to evolve with the Miles band at the forefront and the element of funk strengthened, and Cannonball is no exception. It was. Improvisation with a strong rock color is a masterpiece. The members’ attention is a keyboard player, and George Duke, who later joined Frank Zappa’s band and supported Zappa’s jazz rock period, was appointed. “Black Messiah” featuring Duke is a must-listen not only for jazz fans.

1972年11月2日のベルリン公演をＦＭブロードキャスト・マスターからのステレオ・サウンドボードにて収録。アダレイと云えば『サムシング・エルス／枯葉』などのイメージが強いものの、この時期ジャズ界はマイルスのバンドを先陣にロック、ファンクの要素を強めての進化が始まっており、キャノンボールも例外では無かったのです。ロック色の強いインプロヴィゼーションは圧巻で。メンバーの注目はキーボード・プレイヤーで、後にフランク・ザッパのバンドに加入し、ザッパのジャズ・ロック時期を支えたジョージ・デュークを起用。デュークをフィーチャーした“ブラック・メシア”はジャズ・ファンのみならず必聴です。
