CAMEL in 1997 launched the super masterpiece “HARBOUR OF TEARS” with the motif of “Irish tragedy” and embarked on a tour for the first time in five years. A soundboard album that will pour the live performance into your brain is now available.
Recorded in this work is “April 5, 1997 Krakow performance (Poland)”. It is the stereo sound board recording. Speaking of “HARBOUR OF TEARS Tour”, the official live work “COMING OF AGE” is also left, but of course this work is another performance. In order to grasp the situation around that, let’s first take a bird’s eye view from the activity ritual at the time.

This is the 1996/1997 CAMEL. The official “COMING OF AGE” was produced in the “North American” leg just before coming to Japan, but the Krakow performance of this work is the “European” leg after leaving Japan. It was a concert corresponding to the 11th performance. Such a show is also known for the fact that the best sound board has been left for a long time, and this work was made into a CD from the best master. The quality is completely official grade. Since there is a genuine official work “COMING OF AGE” just before, it can not be asserted that it is an “official grade” with a humpa sound board, but this work can be said. It’s so perfect that I don’t think you’ll notice it even if you slip it into “COMING OF AGE”.
The story world of the magnificent “HARBOUR OF TEARS” is drawn on such an official-class soundboard. However, since it is a selection that is similar to “COMING OF AGE”, let’s organize it while comparing it here.

… and it looks like this. This work opens with two classic songs, and then progresses to the reproduction part of “HARBOUR OF TEARS”. Classics adopted the major songs “Lady Fantasy” and “Never Let Go” that were not played in the official “COMING OF AGE”. Although the reproduction of “HARBOUR OF TEARS” is roughly similar to “COMING OF AGE”, the story ends with the highlight “Coming Of Age”. The epilogue “The Hour Candle” dedicated to my father is omitted.
This is CAMEL, who created the late masterpiece “HARBOUR OF TEARS”, which is comparable to “THE SNOW GOOSE”. Although it is regretted that “The Hour Candle” is not included, this work is a masterpiece sound board suitable for calling “European COMING OF AGE”. A branded live album that lets you get lost in the world of that Irish story again. Please enjoy it to the fullest.

「アイルランドの悲劇」をモチーフにした超名作『HARBOUR OF TEARS』を送り出し、５年ぶりのツアーに乗り出した1997年のCAMEL。その生演奏を脳みそに流し込んでくれるサウンドボード・アルバムが登場です。
そんな本作に記録されているのは「1997年４月５日クラクフ公演（ポーランド）」。そのステレオ・サウンドボード録音です。“HARBOUR OF TEARS Tour”と言えば、公式ライヴ作『COMING OF AGE』も残されているわけですが、もちろん本作は別公演。その辺の状況を把握するためにも、まずは当時の活動儀容から俯瞰してみましょう。

これが1996年／1997年のCAMEL。公式『COMING OF AGE』は来日直前の「北米」レッグで製作されましたが、本作のクラクフ公演は離日後の「欧州」レッグ。その11公演目にあたるコンサートでした。そんなショウは以前から極上サウンドボードが残された事でも知られ、本作はそのベスト・マスターからCD化されたもの。そのクオリティは、ずばり完全オフィシャル級。直前に正真正銘の公式作『COMING OF AGE』があるのでハンパなサウンドボードで「公式級」とは断言できないわけですが、本作は言える。それこそ『COMING OF AGE』の中にシレッと紛れ込ませても気づかないんじゃないかと思うほどの完璧ぶりなのです。
そんなオフィシャル級サウンドボードで描かれるのは、壮大なる『HARBOUR OF TEARS』の物語世界。ただし『COMING OF AGE』とも似て非なるセレクトですので、ここで比較しながら整理してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。本作はクラシックス２曲で幕を開け、その後『HARBOUR OF TEARS』再現パートへと進む構成。クラシックスは公式『COMING OF AGE』では演奏されなかった大代表曲「Lady Fantasy」「Never Let Go」が採用されました。『HARBOUR OF TEARS』再現はおおよそ『COMING OF AGE』に準じるものの、ハイライトの「Coming Of Age」で物語は終了。父に捧げられるエピローグ「The Hour Candle」は省略されています。
それこそ『THE SNOW GOOSE』にも比肩する後期の最高傑作『HARBOUR OF TEARS』を生み出したCAMEL。「The Hour Candle」の未収録は惜しまれるものの、本作は「欧州版COMING OF AGE」と呼ぶに相応しい傑作サウンドボードです。あのアイリッシュ物語の世界に再び迷い込める銘品ライヴアルバム。どうぞ、存分にご堪能ください。
