The live album was finally released in 1995, and in her long career, there was no decisive live sound source at the last big break.

This time Millard recorded the Irvine performance in October. “LUCK OF THE DRAW” is already a big hit, and it is a time when it has penetrated into the United States, and it is in the middle of a tour that has been carried out at its peak.
Millard recorded her stage, which was in such a best condition, with the finest sound quality. As usual, the sound image is on, Raitt’s singing voice and slide guitar are really close. Originally press CD release is appropriate? Stunning recording state that seems to be.
In addition, “THE CHRISTIC INSTITUTE BENEFIT CONCERT 1990 DAY 2” was a small acoustic stage, but here Millard captured the powerful sound accompanied by a full band with a wonderful balance.
In her band at this time, former Beach Boys & former Rattles (laughs) Ricky Fata was hitting the drums, which is a point that appeals to rock maniacs.

Her big hit “Thing Called Love” is now very nostalgic, and the imposing stage of Presley’s cover “A Big Hunk O’ Love”, which is familiar in her live performance, is reproduced with the perfect sound quality unique to Millard. Willing to.

マイク・ミラードによるボニー・レイットの記録と言えば『THE CHRISTIC INSTITUTE BENEFIT CONCERT 1990 DAY 2: MIKE MILLARD MASTER TAPES』リリースの記憶も新しいところですが、そちらはチャリティ・コンサート用ショートセット、さらにはアンプラグド形式といったイレギュラーなステージでもありました。
しかし新たに公開されたミラード・マスターは彼女のフルステージを記録した驚きの初登場音源。

何が嬉しいって『NICK OF TIME』に『LUCK OF THE DRAW』と立て続けに大ヒットアルバムを出し絶頂にあった彼女のステージをミラードならではの極上音質で捉えてくれたこと。
それら二枚のアルバムはどちらもグラミー賞を総なめ、おまけに俳優のマイケル・オキーフと結婚するなど1991年のレイットは公私ともに絶頂にあった訳ですが、意外にもこの時期のライブアルバムというのは実現せず、それどころか当時アメリカのアーティストの常套手段だったラジオ放送用ライブなども実現せず。
ようやくライブアルバムがリリースされるのは1995年のことで、長いキャリアの中にあってようやくの大ブレイク期には決定的なライブ音源というのは存在しなかった。

今回ミラードが録音してくれたのは10月のアーバイン公演。既に『LUCK OF THE DRAW』も大ヒットからのアメリカに浸透した時期であり、この上なく絶頂の中で敢行されたツアーの真っ最中。
そんな最高の状態にあった彼女のステージをミラードは極上の音質で記録。例によって音像はオン、レイットの歌声もスライドギターも実に近い。本来ならプレスCDリリースが相応しいのでは？と思えるほど見事な録音状態。
それに『THE CHRISTIC INSTITUTE BENEFIT CONCERT 1990 DAY 2』は小編成のアコースティック・ステージでしたが、ここではフルバンドを従えた力強いサウンドをミラードがまた見事なバランスで捉えてくれている。
この当時の彼女のバンドでは元ビーチ・ボーイズ＆元ラトルズ（笑）のリッキー・ファターがドラムを叩いていたこともロックマニアにとってはアピールするポイントかと。

大ヒットした「Thing Called Love」など今となっては非常に懐かしく、また彼女のライブではおなじみプレスリーのカバー「A Big Hunk O’ Love」といった堂々たるステージをミラードならではの完璧な音質が再現してくれる。
極めつけはレイットの親友にして2020年にコロナウィルスが原因で亡くなったジョン・プラインがフィナーレに登場して彼女とご機嫌なデュエットを披露、それもまた最高の音質で。
ライブ全体も絶頂期と呼ぶに相応しく、腰の据わった演奏で支えてくれるバンドをバックにレイットが自身に満ち溢れたが歌とスライドを唸らせる。
今までありそうでなかった『NICK OF TIME』から『LUCK OF THE DRAW』かけての彼女のステージを捉えた究極のオーディエンス・アルバムがまさかのミラード録音にて登場。彼女のライブ入門編としても推せるほど、今回も彼の見事な仕事ぶりに脱帽！
