This is BON JOVI in 1986/1987. It was literally a world tour, but the main one was “North America #3”. We ran through more than 140 performances, making up more than 60% of the entire schedule, without any apparent breaks. The Land Bar performance of this work was the 130th concert in the final stage.
Despite its scale, “SLIPPERY WHEN WET Tour” is also a wasteland of sound sources. Not only did the official work that was expected to be released not materialize, but even the (masterpiece level) Odin recording was difficult. It was a dream come true to have a full sound board. The situation changed in 2013. A full-length soundboard was suddenly discovered somewhere on the internet. Moreover, the quality was incredible. The recording and mix are perfect, so-called “completely official grade”. There is no roughness that is common with leaked soundboards, and the huge cheers are mixed neatly. Moreover, there are no signs of deterioration. It’s not an air check…I mean, it wasn’t a broadcast in the first place, so there was no evidence that it was ever on the airwaves, and there were no traces of dubbing. On the other hand, there are no signs of data compression, which is common in excavations in the digital age. Such a transcendental sound shocked the whole world and instantly became a standard.
However, the shock master was not flawless either. A cut that seems to be a tape change occurs in “Livin’ On A Prayer” in the middle of the show. It’s about 20 seconds long, but strictly speaking it wasn’t a complete live album. And it was the Zodiac label’s “WET & WILD” that solved that only (and small) drawback and made a “complete album” possible. The sound has been polished with our own meticulous mastering, and the pitch, phase, and band balance have been carefully corrected, making it the very best. After all, it is an uncut recording of “Livin’ On A Prayer”. It was patched with the recording of the Cincinnati performance (March 19th) of the same tour, but the original sound is similar and the precise mastering eliminates the discomfort. If you don’t tell me… no, even if you tell me, you won’t even know that it’s been patched, and the result is a one-of-a-kind complete album.
And, this work is a precise reproduction of such an ultimate soundboard album. I tried remastering it when reprinting it, but I couldn’t make it any better. Of course, it’s easy to remaster by simply changing the tone slightly, but it’s pointless if it doesn’t clearly improve the sound. In that case, I decided to leave the original awesomeness intact.
What is depicted in such ultimate quality is the ultimate full show that was rewriting the history of acclaimed rock. This extreme set is unique to that time, so let’s summarize it here.

これが1986年／1987年のBON JOVI。文字通りのワールド・ツアーだったわけですが、その中でもメインだったのが「北米#3」。休みらしい休みもなく全日程の６割以上を締める140公演以上を駆け抜けました。本作のランドバー公演は、その終盤130公演目にあたるコンサートでした。
これだけの規模にも関わらず、“SLIPPERY WHEN WET Tour”は音源の不毛地帯でもあります。当然リリースされると思われた公式作品が実現しなかっただけでなく、（傑作レベルの）オーディンス録音でさえ厳しい。フル・サウンドボードなど夢のまた夢だったのです。その状況が変わったのが2013年。ネット某所で突如として全長サウンドボードが発掘されたのです。しかも、そのクオリティがとんでもなかった。収録もミックスも完璧で、いわゆる「完全オフィシャル級」。流出サウンドボードにありがちな荒さがなく、超巨大な大歓声も綺麗にミックスされている。しかも、劣化痕もない。エアチェックではない……と申しますか、そもそも放送ではないので一度も電波に乗った形跡がありませんし、ダビング痕もゼロ。その一方でデジタル時代の発掘によくあるデータ圧縮の痕跡も見当たらない。それだけの超絶サウンドは全世界を震撼させ、一瞬にして定番化したのです。
しかし、その衝撃マスターも完全無欠ではありませんでした。ショウ中盤の「Livin’ On A Prayer」でテープ・チェンジと思しきカットが発生。約20秒ほどですが、厳密には完全ライヴアルバムではなかったのです。そして、そんな唯一（にしてささやかな）欠点も解決し、「完全アルバム」を実現したのがZodiacレーベルの『WET & WILD』でした。当店独自の細心マスタリングで磨き上げられ、ピッチも位相も帯域バランスも丁寧に補正されたサウンドはまさに最高峰。何と言っても「Livin’ On A Prayer」のノーカット収録。同じツアーのシンシナティ公演（３月19日）録音でパッチされているのですが、原音が似ている上に精密なマスタリングで違和感を解消。言われなければ……いえ、言われてもパッチされていることが分からないほどの仕上がりで、唯一無二の完全アルバムが実現しているのです。
そして、本作はそんな究極サウンドボード・アルバムを精密に復刻したもの。復刻に際して再マスタリングも試みたのですが、これ以上の向上は果たせなかった。もちろん、ちょっとだけ音色を変える程度の誤魔化しリマスターはカンタンですが、ハッキリ向上でないのなら意味がない。それならば……と、オリジナルの凄みをそのまま残すことにいたしました。
そんな究極クオリティで描かれるのは、絶賛ロック史塗り替え中だった究極のフルショウ。その極端なセットは当時ならではですので、ここで整理しておきましょう。

The main press 2CD reveals the fate of BON JOVI… no, it is the masterpiece of the “SLIPPERY WHEN WET Tour” that redefined the 80’s music scene itself. It is truly a cultural heritage, a museum-quality soundboard album. However, a live album is a live album, no matter how great it is. It doesn’t tell you about the “scenery” that spreads beyond that. Therefore, we have also prepared a video version where you can witness them receiving the wind of glory with their whole bodies.
This work was filmed at the “Vancouver performance on July 2, 1987.” This is the multi-camera pro shot. The show’s position is the 122nd performance of “North America #3″ according to the schedule in the main commentary. It was also a concert 8 days before the Land Bar performance of the main press 2CD (19 days ago).
This show has long been known for its long professional shots, and has become a staple as a representative video of the “SLIPPERY WHEN WET Tour.” This work is a DVD version of the best master of such famous footage. I can’t shake the analog feel of the era, and I’m hesitant to proclaim it as “completely official!” by modern digital standards, but if it was by the standards of the time, I’d scream at the top of my lungs. The most shocking thing is the freshness of the master, the luster and freshness without any dubbing sound is tremendous. There is no roughness, color bleeding, or even white line noise. It can’t be said that it is completely perfect as there are some driving errors such as in “Tokyo Road”, but such scenes are very short and the basic quality is extremely high. That is the beauty of the image, as if you were watching the TV radio waves of the time.

What is depicted with such visual beauty are five people who emit an aura of great prosperity from their whole bodies. The set is very similar to the main press 2CD, and is the same except for the encore fun covers “Drift Away” and “We’re An American Band”, probably due to the broadcast time frame. That means that 8 songs from “SLIPPERY WHEN WET” are being played on a large scale, and it is also “SLIPPERY WHEN WET that you can see with your eyes.”
Moreover, the performance is youthful and fiercely active! The glittering staging is in full swing, just like the PV of “You Give Love A Bad Name”, but the explosive tension of the real stage is not comparable to the PV. John ran from one end to the other, inviting chants, and Richie was also sharp as he shook his neck and played it down. The heat of the performance was more than enough to be enjoyed even on the main press 2CD, but the persuasiveness of the visuals seen with the eyes is exceptional.
Truly at its peak. Exactly the climax. This is a video work that tells us the charm of BON JOVI, which ruled the world and repainted the earth, with sights that speak louder than a hundred words. Not only does it let you imagine the “other side” of the main press 2CD, but this work itself is a cultural heritage of rock history. 本編プレス２CDはBON JOVIの運命を……いや、80年代音楽シーンそのものを塗り替えた“SLIPPERY WHEN WET Tour”の最高傑作。まさに文化遺産、博物館級のサウンドボード・アルバムです。しかし、どれほど素晴らしかろうともライヴアルバムはライヴアルバム。その向こうに広がる「光景」は教えてくれません。そこで、全身で栄光の風を受けていた彼らの姿を目撃できる映像篇もご用意しました。
そんな本作が撮影されたのは「1987年７月２日バンクーバー公演」。そのマルチカメラ・プロショットです。ショウのポジションは本編解説のスケジュールで言うところの「北米#3」の122公演目。本編プレス２CDのランドバー公演の８公演前（19日前）にあたるコンサートでもありました。
このショウは以前から長尺プロショットが残された事でも知られ、“SLIPPERY WHEN WET Tour”の代表映像として大定番となってきました。本作は、そんな有名映像のベスト・マスターからDVD化されたもの。時代柄アナログ感は拭えず、デジタル大全盛の現代基準で「完全オフィシャル級！」と喧伝するのは迷いますが、当時基準であれば声を枯らして叫びたい。何よりも衝撃なのはマスター鮮度でして、ダビング音のない艶やかさと瑞々しさが絶大。ゴワゴワ感も色滲みも白線ノイズすら見当たらない。「Tokyo Road」など走行ヨレもなくはないので完全無欠とは言えませんが、そうしたシーンは非常に短く、基本のクオリティは極めて高い。それこそ当時のTV電波をそっくり受診しているかのような映像美なのです。

そんな映像美で描かれるのは、全身から一大全盛のオーラを発する５人。セットは本編プレス２CDに酷似しており、放送枠の関係かアンコールのお楽しみカバー「Drift Away」「We’re An American Band」意外は同一。それはつまり、『SLIPPERY WHEN WET』から８曲が大盤振る舞いされているという事であり、「目で観るSLIPPERY WHEN WET」でもあるわけです。
しかも、パフォーマンスが若々しく、猛烈にアクティヴ！　「You Give Love A Bad Name」のPVよろしく煌びやかなステージングが全開なわけですが、本物ステージの爆テンションはPVの比ではない。ジョンは端から端まで駆け回っては唱和を誘い、ネックを振って弾き倒すリッチーもキレッキレ。演奏の熱量は本編プレス２CDでも十分すぎるほどに味わえましたが、やはり目で観る映像の説得力は格別です。
