Bob Dylan’s performance in Japan this time was virtually turned into a dead cover tournament, which surprised maniacs all over the world as well as Japan, but even so, Dylan continued to stick to playing what he did. is their “Brokedown Palace”.
I’m sure many of you have heard about the scene of the premiere in UXBRIDGE’s “TOKYO 2023 3RD NIGHT”, which is already on sale, but even in the same “AMERICAN BEAUTY”, “Truckin'” was so smooth (even as a band). It was a tune that was easy to listen to), whereas this one was performed on a whim? It was a fact that it seemed like it was.
It was enough to surprise maniacs all over the world just by showing off such an improvised new repertoire by Dylan while the set list was fixed for the past few years, but the performance of that day was dangerous. That’s why he quickly moved on to “Melancholy Mood” (which was actually a rare revival these days).

However, Dylan, who could not give up on “Brokedown Palace”, tried the same song again at the end of the live on the last day in Tokyo. Certainly, it’s only natural that he would want to sing the famous ballad of “AMERICAN BEAUTY” following a relaxed number like “Mother of Muses.”
In fact, Dylan began singing with a lot of passion and the band worked hard to match, but when the song approached the third song, Dylan’s song became suspicious, and naturally the band couldn’t hide their anxiety.
Even so, Dylan decided to continue singing somehow, so he stopped singing and tried to bridge the gap with the piano, but he failed. I thought that the performance would stop, but I survived this place by the brute force of moving from there to “Goodbye Jimmy Reed”.

It’s also interesting that the audience got excited by witnessing such a rare happening medley. In a sense, it’s all the more so because “God” showed us a human-like appearance on stage.
As a result, the interesting development that “Brokedown Palace” and “Goodbye Jimmy Reed” are played in a medley state also shows a freedom that cannot be imagined in the recent set list fixed situation, and once again all over the world It was supposed to surprise maniacs. Is this the name of injury?

The final day in Tokyo, which once again surprised maniacs around the world, was captured by an excellent audience.
“TOKYO 2023 2ND NIGHT”, also known as “Truckin’ Day”, which was released at the same time this time, also had a tremendous recording quality, but this one has a perfect sound quality that goes even higher. The sound quality that makes you wonder “why not press?” is a level that can be recommended from beginners to enthusiasts with confidence.
The closeness of Dylan’s singing voice, of course, and the backing band are captured in a truly wonderful balance. Please listen to the deep sound quality. Although it is released on CD-R like “2ND NIGHT”, it still guarantees outstanding sound quality!

 今回のボブ・ディラン来日公演は実質的にデッド・カバー大会と化したことが日本はもちろん世界中のマニアを驚かせた訳ですが、そんな中でもディランがどうしたことか演奏にこだわりを持ち続けたのが彼らの「Brokedown Palace」。
 その初披露の場面は既に好評発売中のUXBRIDGE『TOKYO 2023 3RD NIGHT』で聞かれた方も多いかと思いますが、同じ『AMERICAN BEAUTY』でも「Truckin’」があれほどスムーズに(バンドとしても演奏しやすい曲調だったこともあり)披露されたのに対し、こちらは半ば思い付きで披露されたのでは?と思えるような調子だったのは事実。
 ここ数年のセットリスト固定状態が続いた中でディランがそんな即興まじりな新レパートリー披露してくれただけでも世界中のマニアを驚かせるには十分だった訳ですが、あの日の演奏が危うくなったからこそ、彼はすかさず「Melancholy Mood」へと(実はこれも最近ではレアな復活だった)移ったのでした。
 
 ところが「Brokedown Palace」をどうしても諦めきれないディランは東京最終日のライブ終盤で再び同曲をトライ。確かに『AMERICAN BEAUTY』の名バラードを「Mother of Muses」のようなゆったり系ナンバーに続いて歌いたくなってしまうのも当然かと。
 実際ディランは思入れたっぷりに歌い始めバンドも懸命に合わせたのですが、歌が三番に差しかかったところでディランの歌が怪しくなってしまい、当然バンドも不安さを隠しきれない。
 それでも何とか歌い続けようと思ったディランは歌うのを止めてピアノで場つなぎしてみようとしたものの玉砕。あわや演奏が止まってしまうのかと思いきや、そこから「Goodbye Jimmy Reed」へ移るという力業でこの場を切り抜けたのです。
 
 そんなレアなハプニング含みのメドレーを目の当たりにしたことでむしろ観客が盛り上がっているのも面白い。ある意味「神様」がステージ上で人間らしい姿を見せてくれたのだからなおさらでしょう。
 結果として「Brokedown Palace」と「Goodbye Jimmy Reed」がメドレー状態で演奏されるという面白い展開がこれまた近年のセットリスト固定な状況では考えられないような自由さをみせ、またしても世界中のマニアを驚かせることになったのです。怪我の功名とはこのことか。
 
 またしても世界中のマニアを驚かせる一日となった東京最終日を極上オーディエンスで捉えてくれたのはこれまた海外勢。
 今回同時リリースの「Truckin’の日」こと『TOKYO 2023 2ND NIGHT』も凄まじい録音クオリティだった訳ですが、こちらはさらに上を行く完璧な音質。もはや「何でプレスじゃないの?」と首をかしげたくなる音質は初心者からマニアまで自信を持って勧められるレベル。
 ディランの歌声の近さはもちろん、バックバンドも実に見事なバランスで捉えてくれている。その深みのある音質に是非聞き惚れてください。『2ND NIGHT』同様CD-Rでのリリースではありますが、それでも抜群の音質を保証します!
