Bob Dylan, who has resumed touring activities after the Rolling Stones. His resurrection live tour took place from November to a month, and all the performances were carried out safely even in the midst of Corona. It seems that there are enthusiasts who have been hungry for the sound source of the latest tour for that reason, but this time we will release the best sound source at the beginning and end of the tour at the same time.
Like the example of Dylan’s set list pattern in recent years, it was done with the set list fixed again, but even so, it seems that it has been a long time since the stage returned, and some changes occurred only at the beginning of the tour. The first thing I would like to introduce is Milwaukee on the first day of the tour.

First of all, “Simple Twist Of Fate”, which is a song included in the famous “Blood on the Tracks”, was played only on this day. This song was a repertoire that was played in 2019, which was the last tour before the start of the Corona disaster, but it was only this day that was taken up when this tour resumed. The next day, Chicago was replaced by “When I Paint My Masterpiece,” which has been played in the same way. This would have been a traditional repertoire choice.
Also, “Soon After Midnight” from the latest work that is being performed at the end of the live will be unveiled only on this day, and from the next day, “Melancholy Mood” will be performed at the position of this song, and originally “Melancholy ~” will be performed. “To Be Alone With You” will be returned to the repertoire after a long time and will be shown in a new arrangement at the position where it was being performed.
And only on this day and the next day in Chicago, the encore was “Love Sick” and “It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry”. From Ohio’s eyes, the composition of “Every Grain of Sand” has been solidified since the repertoire was revived after a long time. Basically, it will feature songs from the album “ROUGH AND ROWDY WAYS” released last year, and it was a rather valuable day to have a trial set list with a high content of the conventional repertoire only on this day. Drummer Charley Drayton became a surprising new member when the tour resumed. He was a player who previously shared a drum seat with Steve Jordan at Keith Richards’ Expensive Wynose. Now Steve takes the place of the late Charlie at the Rolling Stones, and Drayton goes to the Dylan band. It’s interesting because I found a new world in the fall of 2021.
Dylan was talkative in introducing the members of the new band including Charlie, which was a big topic on this tour, but it’s funny that I haven’t talked much about it on the first day of the tour.
Above all, the joy that Dylan, who loves to sing on stage, was able to return after a long time seems to be considerable, and every song has a high tension. Given that he is 80 years old, I can’t help but be surprised at how good he is here.
And after all, the sound quality of the audience recording that captured the precious stage on the first day is outstanding, and Dylan’s lively singing voice is captured with a very on sound image. The quality is so good that you would want to call it a press CD level. Moreover, if you compare it with Philadelphia at the end of the tour, which will be released at the same time this time, you should be able to realize how valuable the unique set list only for the first day was. ローリング・ストーンズに次いでツアー活動を再開させた大物ボブ・ディラン。その復活ライブ・ツアーは11月から一か月にかけて行われ、コロナ禍の中にあってもすべての公演が無事に遂行されました。それだけに最新ツアーの音源を渇望されていたマニアがおられることかと思われますが、今回はツアー序盤と終盤の極上音源を同時リリース。
近年のディランのセットリストのパターンの例に漏れず、今回もまたセットリスト固定にて行われたのですが、そんな中でも久々のステージ復帰らしくツアー序盤だけはいくつかの変化が起きていました。そこで最初にご紹介いたしますはツアー初日のミルウォーキー。

まずこの日に限って演奏されたのが名盤「血の轍」収録曲である「Simple Twist Of Fate」。本曲はコロナ禍が始まる前、最後のツアーであった2019年にも演奏されていたレパートリーでしたが、今回のツアー再開に際して取り上げられたのはこの日だけ。翌日のシカゴから同じように従来から演奏されている「When I Paint My Masterpiece」へと交代。これは従来からのレパートリーの選択を考えていたのでしょう。
またライブ終盤に演奏されている近作からの「Soon After Midnight」もこの日だけの披露となり、翌日からは本曲の位置で「Melancholy Mood」が演奏されるようになり、元々「Melancholy～」が演奏されていた位置には「To Be Alone With You」が久々のレパートリー復帰かつ新アレンジでの披露となるのです。
そしてこの日と翌日のシカゴに限ってアンコールは「Love Sick」と「It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry」という、これまた従来のレパートリーが投入されていたものの、これまた三日目のオハイオからは「Every Grain of Sand」がやはり久々のレパートリー復活を果たして以降の構成が固まりました。基本的には昨年リリースされたアルバム「ROUGH AND ROWDY WAYS」収録曲をフィーチャーすることとなり、この日だけ従来のレパートリーの含有率が高い試験的なセットリストというのがむしろ貴重な一日となったのでした。

またツアー再開に際して驚きの新メンバー加入となったのがドラマーのチャーリー・ドレイトン。彼は以前キース・リチャーズのエクスペンシブ・ワイノーズでスティーブ・ジョーダンとドラムの席を分け合っていたプレイヤー。それが今やスティーブはローリング・ストーンズで亡きチャーリーの代役を務め、ドレイトンはディラン・バンドへ。奇しくも2021年の秋に新天地を見つけたのだから面白いものです。
そんなチャーリーを含んだ新生バンドのメンバー紹介においてディランが饒舌であったことも今回のツアーで大きな話題となったのですが、そこはツアー初日、まだあまり多くを語らないのが微笑ましい。
何よりステージで歌うことを愛するディランが久々に復帰できた喜びは相当なようで、どの曲でも歌いっぷりがハイテンション。彼が80歳であることを考えると、ここでの絶好調ぶりには驚きを禁じえません。
そして何と言っても貴重な初日のステージを捉えてくれたオーディエンス録音の音質が抜群で、そんなディランのイキイキとした歌声を非常にオンな音像で捉えてくれている。もう本来であれば余裕でプレスCDレベルだと呼びたくなるほどのクオリティ。なおかつ今回同時リリースとなるツアー終盤のフィラデルフィアと聞き比べれば、初日だけの独特なセットリストがいかに貴重であったかも実感できるはず。世界中のマニアが待ち望んだディランのステージ復帰を最高の音質でお楽しみください！
