“CROSS PURPOSES TOUR 1994” where all the “executives” of Sabas have been gathered together and all the charms have been sublimated into one show. The special live album is here.
Generally, it was the “CROSS PURPOSES” era, which has a slightly half-finished image, but the contents were strong enough for enthusiasts who love all eras, and were deeply engraved in their minds. Master: Not to mention Tony Iommi, but it is Geezer Butler who is the incarnation of heavyness, and Tony Martin who is the incarnation of the stylized melody. And not only the members but also the album “CROSS PURPOSES” had “beauty” and “heavy” lined up nicely. The melody is forever beautiful, the song development is crisp and heavy. No matter where you cut it, it’s full of Savas, yet its fusion is more intense than in any other era. It was an era in which the “charm of Sabas”, which had changed over time, was condensed into one. This work is a live album that cuts out such “CROSS PURPOSES TOUR” with a wonderful 100% sound.
“April 19, 1994 Utrecht performance” is included in this work. First, as always, let’s imagine the position from the big picture of the world tour.

・ February 8-March 13: North America (25 performances)
・ March 21-27: Japan (5 performances)
・ April 11-May 28: Europe (34 performances) ← ★ Coco ★
《Bobby Rondinelli → Bill Ward change》
・ August 27-September 4: South America (4 performances)

Above, all 68 performances. The Utrecht performance of this work is the sixth performance of the “Europe” leg, which is the core of the world tour.
Such a work is a wonderful audience recording. It’s not like a “sound board” type, but extremely clear musical sounds and singing voices reach straight like a laser beam. Along with its clearness, the balance is wonderful. In audience recording, the bass that tends to be a weak point is firmly captured, and the balance with the mid-high range is excellent. Not only that, the balance of each instrument, the balance of the stereo sense, the balance of cheers and performances, the balance of the core of the musical sound and the sound of the venue sound … all of which are recorded on an extremely beautiful balance.
What is drawn with that quality is the world of “CROSS PURPOSES” where “beauty” and “heavy” compete with each other. First of all, “beauty”. The show starts with “Time Machine”, but after that, Martin’s representative song “When Death Calls” was held tightly with the key songs “Children Of The Sea”, “Mob Rules” and “Neon Knight” from the Ronnie James Dio era. “Headless Cross”, new songs “I Witness” “Cross Of Thorns”, and melodious SABBATH masterpieces are packed. There is also an official version “CROSS PURPOSES LIVE” at this time, but “Children Of The Sea” and “When Death Calls” are numbers that cannot be heard there either.
“Heavy” is also fulfilling to counter such “beauty”. A large number of 8 songs with heavy numbers from the 70’s, including the new song “Psychophobia”. What’s more, there is a variety of songs from the super-heavy “Into The Void” to the rushing “Symptom Of The Universe (full version!)”, And “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath” and “The Wizard” in the 70’s and 80’s. A large number of delicious numbers that were not played appeared in. Show off the concentration that foretells the later original reorganization. Even “rare” and “standard” are well-balanced.
Of course, the balance of performance is also “beauty” and “heavy”. As mentioned earlier, the officers who symbolize both sides are gathered together, and the melody dances to heavy songs, and heavyness is injected into beautiful songs. It’s a live album that you can enjoy vividly with a well-proportioned sound even for its subtleties.

Exactly “All Savas”. Iommi would have simply selected the song he wanted to play, the song that seemed to be humorous, but with all the officers symbolizing “beauty” and “heavy”, all the “charm of Sabas” became a perfect balance. If “good sound, good song, good performance” are the three elements of a good music album, this work is one that is packed in an extremely well-balanced manner.
“CROSS PURPOSES TOUR”, which is often overlooked, has condensed all of its charm. There is no other live like this in the long history of Sabas. It is a masterpiece of a live album where you can enjoy such a precious scene with 100% sound.

ショウは「Time Machine」からスタートしますが、その後もロニー・ジェイムズ・ディオ時代の要曲「Children Of The Sea」「Mob Rules」「Neon Knight」をきっちり押さえ、マーティンの代表曲「When Death Calls」「Headless Cross」、さらに新曲「I Witness」「Cross Of Thorns」と、メロディアスSABBATHの名曲が目白押し。この時期にはオフィシャル盤『CROSS PURPOSES LIVE』もありますが、「Children Of The Sea」「When Death Calls」はそこでも聴けないナンバーです。
そんな“美”に対抗するように“重”も充実。新曲「Psychophobia」を筆頭に、70年代のドヘヴィ・ナンバーが大量8曲。しかも、そこには超重の「Into The Void」から疾駆する「Symptom Of The Universe(のフルバージョン!)」
