The Dan Nelson era ended up in a bubble while being sought after for a new era with an angry issue that looked just like Phil Anselmo. Introducing the finest video that you can witness its true value.

Speaking of the Nelson era, a one-night-only performance was realized, but before and after that, John Bush and Joey Belladonna came and went, and it was a time when it was a little unclear. This is the process from joining Dan Nelson to returning to Veradna (following the present). They had been on a reunion tour until 2006 and were dismantled in 2007. Nelson will join at the end of 2007 after almost a full year of inactivity, including planning to join Corey Taylor. From 2008, he started touring activities in the summer of 2009 after doing some showcase-like gigs while working on the new work “WORSHIP MUSIC”. Full-scale start! I thought, but less than a month after that, Nelson left. I managed to complete the tour with the help of John Bush. During that time, there were only 26 live shows during the Nelson era. It was an era of bubbles that were too short. The above-mentioned performance in Japan was in August 2008, which is the very beginning of the performance. The Korean performance of this work was the next performance two days later.
This work recorded at such a precious show is a terrible screenshot that can only be called a “professional shot”. It starts with a circle from the back of the venue, but from there it zooms in and out toward the screen beside the stage, and when the screen fills the screen, it doesn’t move from there until the end of the performance. The spectacle of a completely multi-camera pro shot itself continues to the end. Moreover, it is the voice that enhances the feeling of professional shots. It’s like a microphone recording that comes with the camera. The site is a special outdoor stage with no ceiling or walls that reflect sound. The sound output by the PA is picked up with zero echo, which is also a level that can only be heard on the sound board.
What is drawn with that quality is Nelson’s vocal, which was said to be “the return of Anselmo”, and a full show with a huge increase in aggression. Anyway, it’s cool. The songs of the Bush era are becoming sharper without any discomfort, and the representative songs of the 1980s are heroic and intense. The shout is not just powerful, but the tone of the ground voice is dandy, so it sounds heroic. It also covers PANTERA’s “A New Level”, but it’s exactly the return of Anselmo. It was a talented person who embodied the coolness of thrash metal in history.
I’m full with just “Pro Shot” screenshots, but the added bonus footage is also Pro Shot. First of all, “February 5th New York performance”, this is a surprising front row shot. Nelson is right in front of me, looking completely at the camera pit. What’s more, this show comes with it. I made an event appearance at a snowboarding tournament, but the tournament itself was prolonged, and the original 45-minute time was shortened to just three songs. Moreover, the PA was narrowed down before the end of the third song “Bring The Noise”, and the voice of Chuck D, who was a guest, could not be heard on the way. The audience, who had been waiting for ANTHRAX’s appearance for 6 hours (!) In the frigid cold, became angry and began throwing snowballs and ice toward the stage. In this work, you can experience such a “full show of only 3 songs” in the front seat.

そんな本作に収められているのは３つの衝撃映像。「2008年８月17日：東豆川市（韓国）」公演のスクリーン・ショットをメインに、「2009年２月５日ニューヨーク公演」の最前列ショット、「同６月20日ビルバオ公演」のマルチカメラ・プロショットをボーナス収録した決定盤です。ネルソン時代と言えば一夜限りの来日公演も実現しましたが、その前後にはジョン・ブッシュやジョーイ・ベラドナの出入りも激しく、やや判然としない時期でもありました。良い機会ですので、当時の活動概要から整理してみましょう。

これがダン・ネルソン加入から（現在に続く）ベラドナ再復帰までの歩み。2006年までリユニオン・ツアーを行っていた彼らは2007年に入ると解体。コリィ・テイラー加入を画策するなど、ほぼ丸１年の活動休止を経て2007年末にネルソンが加入します。2008年からは新作『WORSHIP MUSIC』に取りかかりつつショーケース的なギグをいくつかこなし、2009年夏にやっとツアー活動を開始。いよいよ本格始動！と思いきや、そこから１ヶ月も経たずしてネルソンが離脱。ジョン・ブッシュのヘルプで何とかツアーを完遂しました。その間、ネルソン時代のライヴはわずか26回のみ。あまりにも短い泡沫の時代でした。前述した来日公演は、その中でも極初期となる2008年８月。本作の韓国公演は、その２日後となる次公演でした。
そんな貴重なショウで記録された本作は、「まるでプロショット」としか言いようがない凄まじいスクリーン・ショット。会場後方からの円形で始まるのですが、そこからステージ脇のスクリーンに向かってグイグイとズーム、画面いっぱいにスクリーンが大写しになると、そこから終演まで微動だにしない。完全にマルチカメラ・プロショットそのものな光景が最後まで続くのです。しかも、そのプロショット感を高めているのが音声。カメラ付属のマイク録音のようなのですが。現場は野外の特設ステージで音を反射する天井も壁もない。ＰＡが吐き出す出音を反響ゼロで拾っており、こちらもサウンドボードにしか聞こえないレベルなのです。
そのクオリティで描かれるのは「アンセルモの再来」と言われたネルソンのヴォーカルでアグレッション大増量となったフルショウ。とにかくカッコイイ。ブッシュ時代の曲は違和感なく鋭さが増しており、80年代の代表曲群は雄々しく激しい。単にシャウトがド迫力なのではなく、地声のトーンがダンディだからヒロイックに響く。PANTERAの「A New Level」もカバーしていますが、まさにアンセルモの再来。歴代で最もスラッシュ・メタル然としたカッコ良さを体現した逸材だったのです。
「まるでプロショット」なスクリーン・ショットだけでもお腹いっぱいですが、さらに追加されたボーナス映像もプロショット的。まず「２月５日ニューヨーク公演」ですが、これが驚きの最前列ショット。完全にカメラピット目線でネルソンも目の前なのです。しかも、このショウは曰く付き。スノーボード大会にイベント出演したのですが、大会そのものが長引き、本来45分の持ち時間がわずか３曲に短縮されてしまった。しかも、３曲目の「Bring The Noise」が終わる前にＰＡが絞られてしまい、ゲストだったChuck Dの声が途中で聞こえなくなってしまうという惨事。極寒の中でANTHRAXの出演を６時間（！）も待っていた観客は怒りだし、ステージに向かって雪玉や氷を投げ始めた。本作では、そんな「３曲だけのフルショウ」を最前席体験できるのです。
さらに「６月20日ビルバオ公演」の正真正銘マルチカメラ・プロショット「Antisocial」で幕を閉じる本作。最後に、３つの映像で楽しめるレパートリーもチェックしておきましょう。
