AEROSMITH in 1987 played a revival drama that should be called a miracle in rock history. The legendary soundboard representing that shining era has been brushed up. Introducing a press CD that permanently preserves the highest peak updated sound that sticks to “raw aero”.
The legendary recording was recorded on “November 16, 1987 Hampton Performance”. It is a masterpiece stereo sound board recording that has symbolized the “PERMANENT VACATION Tour”. Speaking of representatives of this tour, the professional shot of the Houston performance is also famous. This is the 1987/1988 AEROSMITH. A huge schedule was organized than any tour in the 70’s, but the Hampton performance of this work is the 21st performance of “North America # 1″ which is the beginning of it. “PERMANENT VACATION” also ran up the charts, and the tour was just entering full power.
It was a historically intense and delicious time, but this show is famous for being broadcast on the radio. The FM sound board has been reigning as a big standard for many years. We have created countless existing groups, but the highest peak was our complete work “HAMPTON 1987”. “Bone To Bone (Coney Island White Fish Boy)”, which was broadcast only in Japan, is also added to the ultimate generation directly from the unused master of the broadcasting station “WESTWOOD ONE”. Although it is not a complete version because there is no unbroadcast “Magic Touch” and “I’m Down”, it was the highest peak of the existing sound board in terms of quality and quantity.
This work is the highest peak update board that further brushed up such Ketteiban. The point is “natural feeling of live aero”. To tell the truth, the last edition was the official grade sound in the previous edition, but it means “official grade at that time”. The mix and finish at the time were in line with the fashion of the time, and the echo was crisp and the sound pressure was earned all at once. It didn’t reach the notorious Loudness War, but it was the bubbly sound that was cut off at the entrance.
On the other hand, this work can be said to be “official grade of modern standards”. Today, the emphasis is on a natural feeling freed from the illusion of sound pressure. This work also takes over it and faithfully reproduces “real sound output / live performance of AEROSMITH”. 歴史的なほど激しくオイシイ時期だったわけですが、このショウは何よりもラジオ放送されたことで有名。そのFMサウンドボードは長年の大定番として君臨してきました。無数の既発群も生み出して来たわけですが、その最高峰だったのが当店の全作『HAMPTON 1987』。放送局”WESTWOOD ONE”の未使用原盤からダイレクトに起こされた究極ジェネで、さらに日本でのみ放送された「Bone To Bone (Coney Island White Fish Boy)」も追加収録。未放送の「Magic Touch」「I’m Down」がないために完全版でこそありませんが、質・量ともに現存サウンドボードの最高峰でした。
本作は、そんな決定盤をさらにブラッシュアップした最高峰更新盤。そのポイントは「生エアロのナチュラル感」。実を申しますと、前回盤は前回盤でオフィシャル級サウンドだったのですが、それは「当時の公式級」という意味。当時のミックスも仕上がりも当時の流行に乗っ取っており、エコーもバリバリな上に全音域一括の音圧稼ぎ。悪名高きラウドネスウォーまでは至っていませんが、その入り口には絶っていたバブリー・サウンドだったのです。
それに対して本作は「現代基準のオフィシャル級」とでも言えるもの。現代は音圧幻想から解放されたナチュラル感を重視。本作もそれに乗っ取って「AEROSMITHの本当の出音／生演奏」を忠実に再現されています。何も考えずに全音域一括だったバランスも帯域分析の上で調整され、ステレオ感も改善。ゴリ押し感が解消されているのでパッと聴いた瞬間は地味に感じられるかも知れませんが、アンサンブルの再現度は格段に向上。前回盤では埋没していたトム・ハミルトンのベース・ラインもくっきり綺麗に味わえるのです。
そんな鮮明ナチュラル・サウンドで甦るのは、燃え上がるバンド・ポテンシャルでビルドアップされた名曲群。『PERMANENT VACATION』は外部ライターも導入した大胆さも話題になりましたが、本作のポイントはむしろ70年代クラシックス。その意味をご説明するためにも、ここでセット内容を整理しておきましょう。

The main press CD is a soundboard album that symbolizes the era of “PERMANENT VACATION”, which has been revived in the century. It is the highest peak update board. The top work of the video is suitable for the bonus celebrating the top board of the live album. Therefore, the special attachment of the full pro shot, which is also known as the best in “PERMANENT VACATION”, has been decided.
This work was filmed on “February 15, 1988 in Houston”. It is a multi-camera pro shot that was recorded at the 20th performance of “North America # 2” in the main commentary. As the main press CD has been a classic for many years, this video is also a super-decision pro shot that does not give up the classic seat. It is the highest quality version ever. The image quality and sound quality are still superb. Although it is clearly a sound mix outflow pro shot that is directly connected to the mix desk, it must be the highest quality. Especially the image quality is an official laser disc? It’s so perfect that you can’t even see white line noise, shaking, or even running twist.

The tone changed slightly from a performance that was burning with determination to revive, perhaps from the positive response of success, to a performance that was full of gratitude and joy for the large audience, and was full of great confidence.
1987/1988 was the second debut for AEROSMITH, while label mate GUNS N’ ROSES stood out. 本編プレスCDは、世紀の復活を遂げた『PERMANENT VACATION』時代の象徴サウンドボード・アルバム。その最高峰更新盤です。ライヴアルバムの頂点盤を祝うボーナスには、映像の頂点作こそが相応しい。そこで、“PERMANENT VACATION”でも随一で知られるフル・プロショットの特別付属が決定しました。
そんな本作が撮影されたのは「1988年２月15日ヒューストン公演」。本編解説でいうところの「北米#2」20公演目で記録荒れたマルチカメラ・プロショットです。本編プレスCDが長年の代定番だったように、この映像も定番の座を譲らない超・決定プロショット。その過去最高クオリティ版です。その画質・音質は、やはり超極上。明らかにミックス卓直結系のサウンド・ミックスな流出プロショットではありますが、クオリティ的に最高級には違いない。特に画質は、オフィシャルのレーザーディスク？とさえ思うほどパーフェクトで、白線ノイズや揺れ、走行ヨレさえ一切見当たらない。
その超絶なる光景と同じくらい強烈なのがフル収録という事実。本編プレスCDはと違ってノーカットなだけではなく、ツアーも５ヶ月めに入ろうかという中盤なせいか、当日のセットそのものも異なる。ここで本編プレスCDと比較しつつ、整理しておきましょう。
