Billie Eilish’s solo performance in Japan finally came true. An original recording that allows you to experience the whole story is now available.
The performance of “August 26, 2022: Ariake Arena” is imbued in this work. It is the thick audience recording. This visit to Japan is realized as part of the Asia tour. Three months before the actual performance, only one performance was announced in a hurry, but the tickets were sold out immediately. This is Billie Eilish in 2022. He has released three types of professional shots so far, especially “GLASTONBURY 2022 (Uxbridge 1690)”, which was released almost at the same time as the announcement of his arrival in Japan, and was also well received as a preparation work. And the actual arrival to Japan is two months later. It was also the last day of the “Asia” tour.
This was the first time in four years since Summer Sonic, and the first solo visit to Japan, recorded at the site, and it was a powerful audience with a direct feeling. It is an original recording of only this work, which was handed over by the recording artist himself, but it is overwhelmed by a powerful core with no sense of distance. If you listen carefully with headphones, you can feel a faint reverberation component in the singing voice, but that is a story of microscopic listening to “distinguish”. When I listen to it, I can’t feel the spatial element at all, and I can finally think “I guess it’s an audience …” because of the vividness of the yellow cheers that boils with Billy’s every move.
What’s more, the cheering was strange. As if it were the 80’s, when Western music was at its peak, it was a live with a great success, with yellow voices … no, screams writhing in waves, and the atmosphere is firmly transmitted in this work. However, at the same time, it feels strangely far away compared to thick musical tones and vocals. I was told that it might be a silent concert due to the influence of the new corona, but was it quiet only around the taper? Whatever the reason, the tremendous popularity and ease of listening to music are compatible at a high level.
What’s even more strange is the fact that the “Ariake Arena”, which was the site, opened as a general facility last month (August 20). While admiring the goodness of the sound because it is a state-of-the-art facility, achieving such a zero-distance sound at a venue where recording know-how has not yet been established …. In fact, the core is so strong that the peaks of the deep bass sound a bit chattering, but if you exchange it for the tightness of the sound board barefoot, you can be convinced… It’s such a powerful sound. .
The super-direct sound portrays Billy’s full show, who has returned to Japan as the pop star of his generation. As mentioned above, the preparatory work “GLASTONBURY 2022” for coming to Japan was well received, but what was the result of opening the lid? Let’s sort it out by comparing.
