Mark Knopfler showed his deep-rooted popularity by sending his first album “TRACKER” in 3 years to 3rd place in the UK / 14th place in the US, which is the highest solo. An original recording that conveys the scene is now available.
It is “May 25, 2015 London performance” that is imbued with such a work. It is an excellent audience recording recorded at the traditional famous venue “Royal Albert Hall”. This is Mark Knopfler in 2015. About a month after the album was released, I had done some showcase-like gigs, but from May I started a full-scale tour. This work is a live album recorded on the first day of the Royal Albert Hall 2 consecutive performances, which was the highlight of the “UK” tour that decorates the beginning.
Such a work has a wonderful live feeling. This is an original recording by a Japanese who was traveling to England at that time, and this work will be released for the first time in Japan. It’s an Odin-like type that sucks in the sound of the hall, but it’s not a drawback because the sound is the traditional venue “Royal Albert Hall”. Anyway, the lustrous and delicate sound is so beautiful that it can be tossed, and the details are clear while giving the melody an inclusive power. And, the core that penetrates the atmosphere is powerful, and it approaches forward as if it hits with plenty of extra-thickness. Therefore, the sound does not give a sense of distance, but creates a sense of dynamism and scale.
This also suits Mark’s music very well. For example, “Hill Farmer’s Blues”. The mandolin cutting has a sharp attack sound that cuts through the space and jumps in front of you, and even the slight nuances of strength and weakness are clear. Mark’s guitar flows into the “thick but sharp” space. The tone is irresistibly sweet and does not mix with the vivid cutting. Of course, “Hill Farmer’s Blues” is just an example. Various musical instruments such as bagpipes, saxophones, and dobros appear depending on the song, but you can fully enjoy the unique “sound” of each one. You will be intoxicated by the dynamism of the ensemble, which vividly depicts the contrast.

Even his masterpiece “SAILING TO PHILADELPHIA” is limited to one song “Speedway at Nazareth”, and “TRACKER” has five songs. There are many new songs that change daily, and especially “Laughs and Jokes and Drinks and Smokes” is a delicious song that cannot be heard even if the two performances of “TRACKER TOUR: PARIS & PADOVA 2015” are combined.
There are some music that suits the audience recording and some that are unsuitable depending on the musicality, but it definitely suits Mark’s music. The melody’s inclusiveness doubles the taste of the melody, and the real thrill of filling the whole body with guitars and song changes that are colored with a realistic on-site feeling cannot be replaced by anything. Of course, it is out of the question for bad recording, but there is no need to worry about this work. An original recording that lets you fully enjoy the taste of the audience. Please breathe in the beautiful space of “Royal Albert Hall” to your heart’s content.

そんな本作に吹き込まれているのは「2015年５月25日ロンドン公演」。伝統の名会場“ロイヤル・アルバート・ホール”で記録された絶品オーディエンス録音です。今週は同じツアーの極上映像『TRACKER TOUR: PARIS & PADOVA 2015（Uxbridge 1539）』も同時リリースとなりますので、まずは当時のスケジュールからそれぞれのポジションを把握しておきましょう。

これが2015年のマーク・ノップラー。アルバム発売後の約１ヶ月はショウケース的なギグを何回かこなしていましたが、５月から本格的なツアーに突入。本作はその冒頭を飾る「英国」ツアーでもハイライトだったロイヤル・アルバート・ホール２連続公演の初日で記録されたライヴアルバムです。
そんな本作は、何とも見目麗しい実況感が素晴らしい。当時渡英していた日本人によるオリジナル録音でして、本作が本邦初公開となるもの。ホール鳴りも吸い込んだオーディンスらしいタイプなのですが、その鳴りが伝統会場“ロイヤル・アルバート・ホール”だから欠点にならない。とにかく艶やかできめ細やかな響きはトロけるような美しさで、メロディに包容力を持たせながらもディテールまで鮮明。そして、その空気感を貫く芯が力強く、極太感もたっぷりで叩きつけるように前へ前へと迫る。そのため鳴りが距離感にならず、ダイナミズムとスケール感を醸しているのです。
これがまたマークの音楽にとてもよく似合う。例えば「Hill Farmer’s Blues」。マンドリンのカッティングはアタック音が鋭く空間を切り裂いて目の前に飛びこみ、わずかに付けられた強弱のニュアンスまでクッキリ。その「厚いけどシャープ」な空間にマークのギターが艶やかに流れ込んでくる。そのトーンがたまらなく甘美で、鮮やかなカッティングと絡み合っても混じらない。もちろん「Hill Farmer’s Blues」はあくまでも一例。バグパイプやサックス、ドブロなど、マークのショウは曲によってさまざまな楽器が登場するわけですが、その１つひとつに特有な「鳴り」がしっかりと味わえる。対比も鮮やかに描き出すアンサンブルのダイナミズムに酔いしれられるのです。
そんなダイナミック・サウンドで描かれるのは、アルバムもツアーも大成功を収めた“TRACKER Tour”のフルショウ。セットは毎晩日替わりでもありましたので、同時リリースの映像作『TRACKER TOUR: PARIS & PADOVA 2015』と比較しながら整理してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。ダイアー・ストレイツ時代も含めてキャリアを幅広く抑えてハイマスが、その軸は明らかに近２作『PRIVATEERING』と『TRACKER』。大代表作『SAILING TO PHILADELPHIA』でさえ１曲「Speedway at Nazareth」だけに抑えられ、『TRACKER』からは５曲も大盤振る舞いされている。日替わりのポイントも新曲が多く、特に「Laughs and Jokes and Drinks and Smokes」は『TRACKER TOUR: PARIS & PADOVA 2015』の２公演を合わせても聴けない美味しい１曲です。
音楽性によってオーディエンス録音が似合う音楽と不向きな音楽があるのですが、マークの音楽には間違いなく似合う。包容力がメロディの旨みを倍加させ、リアルな現場感で彩られたギターや歌替えがしんみりと全身を満たしていく醍醐味は何物にも代えられません。もちろんダメ録音では論外ですが、本作にその心配は無用。オーディエンスの旨みをたっぷりと味わわせてくれるオリジナル録音。どうぞ、“ロイヤル・アルバート・ホール”の美空間を胸いっぱいに吸い込んでください。

The main live album “ROYAL ALBERT HALL 2015” is a live album where you can fully experience the “TRACKER Tour” with the full taste of audience recording only. However, the more realistic and beautiful the sound is, the more worrisome the “scene” of the scene. Therefore, we have prepared a special video work that allows you to witness the “TRACKER Tour” from the special seats.
This work was shot in 3 performances. “May 25, 2015 London performance (14 songs)”, which is the same as the main live album, “Europe # 3” “July 17 Dormund performance (9 songs)” “July 8 Berlin performance (7 songs)” A compilation of audience shots from “Song)”. This week, the tour’s video work “TRACKER TOUR: PARIS & PADOVA 2015 (Uxbridge 1539)” will also be released, but it will not be covered at all.
As you can see from the number of songs, all three performances are not a full set, but to put it further, each song is not a complete performance. It is a digest video work that picks up and eats the delicious parts of each song. You might think, “What a digest?”, But it’s too quick. The volume of about 1 hour is wonderfully “work”, and above all, the quality is too transcendent. Although the positions are different in each of the three performances, what they have in common is a super-doup. In particular, the main London image is close to the front row (third row?), Looking up at the mark from diagonally below. What’s more, from there, you can get close to the highlights with a bold zoom. The unevenness of the blood vessels that emerges in the temples is clearly vivid when you approach the expression, and you can even see the vibration of each string when you approach your hand. Of course, not only Mark but also the highlights of each member are chased. Even the drums at the back of the stage have a super close-up feel that even the fingerprints on the cymbals can be seen.
Of course, the 2 performances in Germany are also superb. As a matter of fact, since various angles are mixed, it is not possible to say “angle is XX” and “distance is ◇◇”, but it is generally super close-up. The main camera of the Dortmund performance is a little far away, but the bold zoom does not make you feel the distance, and you can also see “Brothers in Arms” and “Piper To The End” that I did not play in London. And at the last Berlin performance, the position with Mark directly in front is also delicious. With camera work that maximizes the taste of each position, you can fully experience the special seats.
I would like to add more editing sense. I’m picking up each song, but the selection is not appropriate. The delicious points of each song are perfect. Harmony is also a delicious chorus, a guitar solo that cultivates enthusiasm, an obli that shines a momentary sense. The concentration at which the famous scenes that clearly say “Look at here” flow out in rapid succession is not odd. There are times when the trailer is more interesting than the main story in a Hollywood blockbuster movie, but that is also true for this movie. The rich spectacular, which lasts for about an hour, is more powerful than the full-length footage.

As you can see from the screen capture, it is a video work that you can witness the “TRACKER Tour” with a do-up and super beautiful image quality. Although it is difficult to introduce it as a single work due to the characteristic of “digest”, the contents are special and exquisite. It’s a piece full of charm that can’t be done to stir up the image of the main live album. The real thrill of the “TRACKER Tour” that you can’t hope for in Japan. Please enjoy it together with the main part of the full experience album “ROYAL ALBERT HALL 2015”.

★ A set of 2 audiences that includes the multi-camera video (DISC 1) of “June 2 + 3 2015 Paris performance” and the full video (DISC 2) of “July 18 Padova performance”. DISC 1 is an edited video produced by an overseas enthusiast, and is a multi-camera specification assembled from various audience videos of the Paris 2 performance. The official sound board is also used for the sound, and it is the highest quality. On the other hand, DISC 2 is the opposite straight-line audience shot. 本編ライヴアルバム『ROYAL ALBERT HALL 2015』はオーディエンス録音だけの旨みたっぷりに“TRACKER Tour”をフル体験できるライヴアルバムです。しかし、そのサウンドがリアルで美しいほど、現場の“光景”も気になるもの。そこで“TRACKER Tour”を特等席から目撃できる映像作品も特別にご用意しました。
そんな本作が撮影されたのは３公演。本編ライヴアルバムと同じ「2015年５月25日ロンドン公演（14曲）」を筆頭に、「欧州#3」の「７月17日ドルムント公演（９曲）」「７月８日ベルリン公演（７曲）」のオーディエンス・ショットを集成したコンピレーション。今週は同ツアーの映像作品『TRACKER TOUR: PARIS & PADOVA 2015（Uxbridge 1539）』もリリースされますが、まったく被りません。
曲数をご覧の通り３公演ともフルセットではないわけですが、さらに言いますと１曲１曲も完全演奏ではない。各曲の美味しいパートをつまみ食いしていくダイジェスト映像作です。「なんだダイジェストか」と思われるかも知れませんが、それは気が早すぎる。約１時間というボリュームは立派に「作品」的ですし、何よりもクオリティが超絶すぎるのです。３公演でそれぞれポジションは異なるものの、共通するのは超ドアップ。特にメインのロンドン映像は前方数列目（３列目？）という近さで、マークを斜め下から見上げる。しかも、そこから果敢なズームで見どころに寄りまくる。表情に寄ればこめかみに浮き立つ血管の凹凸までクッキリ鮮やかで、手元に迫れば弦１本１本の振動さえ見て取れる。もちろん、マークだけでなく各メンバーの見どころも追いまくり。ステージ奥のドラムでさえ、シンバルに付いた指紋の跡まで分かるという超接写感なのです。
もちろん、ドイツ２公演も超絶景。実のところ、さまざまなアングルが混ざっているので一概に「角度は○○」「距離は◇◇」と断言できないのですが、概して超接写。ドルトムント公演のメインカメラはやや遠目なものの果敢なズームが距離を感じさせませんし、ロンドンでは演奏しなかった「Brothers in Arms」「Piper To The End」も見られる。そして最後のベルリン公演は、マークを真っ正面に据えたポジションも美味しい。それぞれのポジションの旨みを最大限に活かすカメラワークでたっぷりと特等席体験させてくれるのです。
さらに付け加えたいのが編集センス。各曲をかいつまんでいるわけですが、そのセレクトは適当ではない。各曲とも美味しいポイントがバッチリ。ハーモニーも美味しいコーラス、熱気が醸成されていくギターソロ、一瞬のセンスが光るオブリ……。あきらかに「ココを見てよ」と言わんばかりの名シーンが矢継ぎ早に流れ出る濃度は半端ではない。ハリウッドの大作映画でも本編より予告編の方が面白かったりする時がありますが、それは本作にも言える。約１時間絶え間なく続く濃厚な見応えは、そんじょそこらのフル映像よりも強力なのです。

画面キャプチャーをご覧の通り、ドアップ＆超美麗画質で“TRACKER Tour”を目撃できる映像作品です。「ダイジェスト」という特性から単独作品としてはご紹介しづらいものの、その中身は特濃にして絶品。本編ライヴアルバムのイメージを掻き立てるどころでは済まない魅力がパンパンに詰まった１枚です。日本では望むべくもない“TRACKER Tour”の醍醐味。どうぞ、フル体験アルバムの本編『ROYAL ALBERT HALL 2015』と併せてたっぷりと味わい尽くしてください。

★「2015年６月２日＋３日パリ公演」のマルチカメラ映像（DISC 1）と「７月18日パドバ公演」のフル映像（DISC 2）をセットしたオーディエンス２枚組。DISC 1は海外マニアが制作した編集映像で、パリ２公演の様々なオーディエンス映像から組み上げられたマルチカメラ仕様。音声には公式サウンドボードも使用された極上クオリティです。一方のDISC 2は真逆の正道オーディエンス・ショット。最前列と思しき超間近映像で。画質・音質・アングルともマルチカメラのDISC 1さえ凌駕する奇跡的なショット。個性も両極端な２つの映像でTRACKER Tourをフル体験できる２枚組です。
