Yngwie Malmsteen in 1996 who came to Japan with the No. 1 singer of all time recognized by everyone. The first public recording that conveys the scene is newly discovered. A masterpiece that will be a sister work of the masterpiece “TOKYO 1996 1ST NIGHT DAT MASTER (Zodiac 539)” will be released at the same time.
This week, four original recordings of “INSPIRATION Tour” and “FACING THE ANIMAL Tour” will appear for the first time, but this work is the former. It is a masterpiece audience recording of “November 2, 1996: Nagoya City Public Hall”. Speaking of coming to Japan in 1996, in addition to this week’s two works, “INSPIRATION JAPAN TOUR 1996 (Shades 1370)” is a staple. First, let’s organize each position according to the schedule.

A total of 5 performances. “INSPIRATION JAPAN TOUR 1996” is a coupling of Osaka performance live album and Nakano performance video, and when combined with this week’s two works, 4 performances other than the last day can be collected. Among them, the Nagoya performance of this work is the first day of Lee. In other words, it was the first live in Japan of Golden Tag “Yngwie & Mark”.
The quality of this work, which is a vacuum-packed version of such a historical scene, is also excellent. After all, it is a DAT master brought by the same route as the new press album “TOKYO 1996 1ST NIGHT” and “INSPIRATION JAPAN TOUR 1996 (Osaka recording)”. Of course, as you can imagine from the introduction from the Shades label, it is not as good as the new press masterpiece “TOKYO 1996 1ST NIGHT”, but it is also a slight difference. Although the luster of the ringing is half-stepped, the essential clear and vivid outline and the core with plenty of direct feeling are not lost at all. If this work had been excavated earlier than “TOKYO 1996 1ST NIGHT”, it would have been made into a permanent preservation press.

… and it looks like this. The point is “You Don’t Remember, I’ll Never Forget” and “Rising Force” that were shown at the encore! The masterpiece “TOKYO 1996 1ST NIGHT” will follow the two songs that were the only disappointing points (although the press new name board will do “Icarus ‘Dream Suite Op.4” instead) . “You Don’t Remember, I’ll Never Forget”, which shows the originator’s dreadfulness, is also wonderful, but “Rising Force” is more than that. It is a great representative song that has been sung by successive singers as if competing for individuality, but as expected, the No. 1 singer. The dignified and beautiful tone is enormous, and the vibrato that is even solemn is overwhelming. The song’s original neo-classical architectural beauty is still there! He pulls it out.
On the other hand, it may fall short of “TOKYO 1996 1ST NIGHT DAT MASTER” in terms of performance. Immediately after the performance, “Liar” suddenly disturbs Yngwie, and in the famous song “Queen In Love”, Mark sings subtly. Probably because it’s the first day. As I mentioned in the commentary on “TOKYO 1996 1ST NIGHT”, the 1996 Japan performance was the kickoff ground of the world tour, and this work is the first day. Rather, the ensemble that gets used rapidly as the show progresses feels reliable.
The visit to Japan with Mark Boles was realized three times in 1996, 1999, and 2001, but among them, the “INSPIRATION Tour” was by far the most popular song. In terms of sound and performance, although it does not reach the masterpiece “TOKYO 1996 1ST NIGHT DAT MASTER”, it is a first-day album that makes up for it with delicious “You Don’t Remember, I’ll Never Forget” and “Rising Force”. By all means, please enjoy plenty together with the press new name board.

A DAT master discovered on the same route as the new press album “TOKYO 1996 1ST NIGHT” and “INSPIRATION JAPAN TOUR 1996 (Osaka recording)”, this work is not defeated by its sister work. The clear and vivid contours and the direct feeling of the core are enormous, and although the beauty of the sound is a step down from “TOKYO 1996 1ST NIGHT”, it is a delicious “You Don’t Remember, I’ll Never Forget” that you can’t hear in that masterpiece. 今週は“INSPIRATION Tour”・“FACING THE ANIMAL Tour”のオリジナル録音が４作も初登場しますが、本作は前者。「1996年11月２日：名古屋市公会堂」の大傑作オーディエンス録音です。1996年の来日と言えば、今週の２作品の他にも『INSPIRATION JAPAN TOUR 1996（Shades 1370）』が定番。まずは、日程でそれぞれのポジションを整理しておきましょう。

以上、全５公演。『INSPIRATION JAPAN TOUR 1996』は大阪公演ライヴアルバムと中野公演映像のカップリングで、今週の２作品と合わせると最終日以外の４公演がコレクション可能になったわけです。その中で本作の名古屋公演はイの一番となる初日。つまり、ゴールデン・タッグ「イングヴェイ＆マーク」初のライヴ・イン・ジャパンだったわけです。
そんな歴史的な現場を真空パックした本作は、クオリティも素晴らしい。何しろ、プレス新名盤『TOKYO 1996 1ST NIGHT』や『INSPIRATION JAPAN TOUR 1996（の大阪録音）』と同じルートでもたらされたDATマスターなのですから。もちろん、Shadesレーベルからのご紹介ということからもご想像いただける通り、プレス新名盤『TOKYO 1996 1ST NIGHT』には及ばないわけですが、それもあくまで微差。鳴りの艶やで半歩譲りはするものの、肝心のくっきり鮮やかな輪郭も、ダイレクト感たっぷりの芯もまったく負けていない。もし『TOKYO 1996 1ST NIGHT』よりも本作が先に発掘されていたら、こちらも永久保存プレス化されていたことでしょう。
しかも、ショウ内容は本作の方が美味しいくらい。その意味をご説明する為にも、ここでセット内容を整理しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。ポイントは何と言ってもアンコールで披露された「You Don’t Remember, I’ll Never Forget」「Rising Force」！ 最高傑作『TOKYO 1996 1ST NIGHT』唯一の残念ポイントだった２曲を見事にフォローしてくれる（もっともプレス新名盤の方は代わりに「Icarus’ Dream Suite Op.4」をやってくれるのですが）。オリジネイターの凄味を見せつける「You Don’t Remember, I’ll Never Forget」も素晴らしいですが、それ以上なのが「Rising Force」でしょう。歴代シンガーが個性を競うように歌い継いできた大代表曲なわけですが、さすが、さすがのNo.1シンガー。凛として美しいトーンは絶大で、そして荘厳ですらあるヴィヴラートは圧倒的。曲本来のネオクラシカルな構築美をこれでもか！と引き出してくれるのです。
その一方で、演奏のこなれ具合では『TOKYO 1996 1ST NIGHT DAT MASTER』に一歩及ばないかも知れません。開演直後の「Liar」でいきなりイングヴェイが乱れますし、名曲「Queen In Love」ではマークが抑え気味に歌っている。その理由は、恐らく初日だからでしょう。『TOKYO 1996 1ST NIGHT』の解説でも触れましたが、1996年の日本公演はワールド・ツアーのキックオフ地であり、本作はその初日。むしろ、ショウが進むほどに急速にこなれていくアンサンブルが頼もしく感じられるほどなのです。
マーク・ボールズを伴っての来日は1996年・1999年・2001年と三度実現したわけですが、その中でも人気曲の多さで群を抜いていたのは“INSPIRATION Tour”でした。サウンド／演奏面では最高傑作『TOKYO 1996 1ST NIGHT DAT MASTER』に届かないものの、美味しい「You Don’t Remember, I’ll Never Forget」「Rising Force」で見事に補完してくれる初日アルバム。ぜひ、プレス新名盤と合わせてたっぷりとお楽しみください。
