Well, there are two key points to the highest peak updated sound, one is the original new excavation master, and the other is our original finish. Master first. The recording itself is a legendary recording by Tieve Hopkins as before, but this time we are using a new master that has appeared in recent years. Moreover, it is the prestigious “krw_co” that discovered the master this time. In fact, the sound is “like a different thing” class. Compared to “DEFINITIVE BOSTON 1974”, which was the highest peak in the past, it is clearly fresh and natural. Not only is Gene young, but conventional masters have been subjected to cheap pseudo-stereo processing that shifts the phase in the process of distribution and sound processing that emphasizes edges. However, this new master does not have such processing … No, it is so fresh and beautiful that it does not need processing.
And not only the sound but also the longest has been updated. The original Hopkins recording lacks about 40 seconds in “God’s Revelation” and about 30 seconds in “Ritual”, but it is compensated for by another legendary recording artist, Dan Lampinski recording. It is. As a matter of fact, the same processing has been applied in the past, but this time the upgraded version of Rampinski recording is used. This part also has a much better sound, and the result is so natural that you can hardly notice the connection. Also, the conventional board had a slight recording omission in the supplementary master of “Ritual”, but this time there is no lack of it. ★The main source is the recording of S. Hopkins, just like the previous release, but this edition is based on the very clear latest transfer released by KRW_co in 2019. The freshness itself has improved significantly.

Also, in the previous version, the phase was shifted and different processing was added to the left and right, giving it a pseudo-stereo-like processing, but this time it has an extremely straightforward monaural sound.

★The 2 parts are filled in so that the texture of the Rampinski sound source is adjusted and there is no sense of incongruity.

【英国ロック究極の超大作コンサート】
その最高傑作が記録されたのは「1974年２月26日ボストン公演」。その極上オーディエンス録音です。『海洋地形学の物語』と言えば、YESの大作主義が頂点を迎えた記念碑的名作。近年では何曲か抜粋するツアーも話題となりましたが、全曲フル演奏が実現したのは当時のツアーだけでした。しかも、その“TALES FROM TOPOGRAPHIC OCEANS Tour”にしても全公演でフル演奏が行われたわけでもありません。その辺の状況を理解するためにも、まずは当時のスケジュールから紐解いてみましょう。

これがシンフォニック・ロックの極北を体現した奇跡ツアーの全体像。「英国→北米→欧州」とシンプルな構成でしたが、北米レッグの途中で「追憶」がセット落ち。歴史的なアルバム完全演奏が実現したのは冒頭の「英国」レッグと「北米#1」だけだったと言われています（ただし上記も厳密ではありません。全公演のセットリストが判明していませんし、「英国／北米#1」でも全曲演奏ではない日もありました）。本作のボストン公演は、その貴重な「北米#1」の18公演目にあたるコンサートでした。

【伝説の最高録音がまさかのアップグレード】
このように『海洋地形学の物語』再現ライヴは短い間しか行われず、残念ながらフル・サウンドボードもプロショットも残されませんでした。そうなれば、当然オーディエンス録音の出番。長い歴史の間、世界中のコレクターが「最も音の良い海洋地形学ライヴ」を求め、No.1決定戦が繰り広げられてきました。そして、長きに渡って王座を守り抜いてきた優勝音源こそがボストン録音。本作は、その最高峰更新盤なのです。
さて、その最高峰更新サウンドの要は２つあり、１つは元となる新発掘マスターで、もう１つは当店独自の仕上げです。まずマスター。録音自体は従来と同じくティーヴ・ホプキンスによる伝説録音なのですが、今回は近年になって登場した新マスターを使用しているのです。しかも、今回のマスターを発掘したのは名門「krw_co」なのです。実際、そのサウンドは「まるで別物」級。従来の最高峰であった『DEFINITIVE BOSTON 1974』と比べても明らかに鮮度が良くナチュラル。単にジェネが若いというだけではなく、従来マスターは流通の過程で位相をズラした安っぽい疑似ステレオ処理やエッジを強調する音加工も施されていました。ところが今回の新マスターにはそうした加工がない……いや、加工の必要もないほど瑞々しく美しいのです。
そして、サウンドだけではなく最長も更新。大元のホプキンス録音は「神の啓示」で約40秒、「儀式」で約30秒の欠けがあるのですが、そこをもう１人の伝説録音家ダン・ランピンスキー録音で補填しているのです。実のところ、従来も同じ処理が施されてきたのですが、今回はランピンスキー録音もアップグレード版を使用。このパートも格段に音が良くなっており、ほとんど接続に気づかないほど自然な仕上がりが実現しました。また従来盤は「儀式」の補填マスターにもわずかな録音漏れがあったのですが、今回はその欠けもなし。真に完全形な『海洋地形学の物語』ライヴが実現したのです。
２大作『危機』『海洋地形学』を全曲演奏し、「Roundabout」で占めるフルセット。英国シンフォニック・ロック究極の超大作コンサートを極上体験できる文化遺産アルバムです。長年愛され続けた名匠ホプキンスによる伝説録音が「krw_coマスター＆GRAF ZEPPELINマスタリング」で大幅アップグレードを果たした奇跡の１本。永遠に語り継ぐプレス２CDで堂々の誕生です。

★メインソースは既発同様S.ホプキンスの録音ですが、今回版はKRW_coにより2019年に公開された非常にクリアな最新トランスファーがベース｡　鮮度そのものが格段に上がっています｡

また過去版では位相をズラし､左右に異なる処理を加えた疑似ステレオぽい処理がなされていましたが、今回は極めて素直なモノラルサウンド｡

★補填2箇所は､ランピンスキー音源の質感を整え､違和感のないように補填｡

前回版では”Ritual”補填音源にも欠落があったが､今回は欠落もなく､これにより疑似ながら初の全曲完全収録となった｡
