The compilation “MEATY, BEATY, BIG & BOUNCY” was released in 1971, when it was at its peak, and is famous as “the first universal all-time best.” The special version is the gift release decision.
Speaking of “MEATY, BEATY, BIG & BOUNCY”, it was THE WHO’s first hit to receive a platinum disc, and in 2007, the remastered version was reissued as a paper jacket in Japan. Among such masterpieces, this work is a different version from the original LP and the current paper jacket CD. It is a detailed reproduction of the 1985 Canadian CD “MCBBD 37001”.
-Historical compilation containing valuable versions
“Then what’s so special?” First of all, the “version” of each song. This album is basically a single A-side collection, and “The Kids Are Alright” is also recorded in a single edit (2:45) shorter than the album version (3:18). However, not all of them were single versions, and some songs were recorded in valuable versions different from singles. One is “I’m A Boy”. The original single version was recorded in the summer of 1966 (July/August), but “MEATY, BEATY, BIG & BOUNCY” is a stereo version produced in the fall of the same year (October). Moreover, it is not an edit or remix, but a newly re-recorded one, with a slower tempo than the original and a longer length (3:41) than the original (2:34). Moreover, John Entwistle’s French horn is also a completely different thing.
Another important take is “Magic Bus”. Very complicated about this. First, let’s organize the list to see what version differences there are.
(A) 1968: Original single version (monaural)
(B) 1968: MAGIC BUS recording version (stereo) ← This work
(C) 1971: MEATY, BEATY, BIG & BOUNCY version (different vocals/pseudo stereo) ← * LP/paper jacket CD
(D) 1984: THE WHO SINGLES version (long version of C)
(E) 2000; THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT version (monaural/remix)
(F) 2007; MAGIC BUS reissue (different vocal/different composition/pseudo stereo)
(G) 2014; THE WHO HITS 50! Version (monaural version of C)
… and it looks like this. The original “A” is a monomix of (3:21), but it seems that the source of the original version was not found in 1971 when “MEATY, BEATY, BIG & BOUNCY” was produced, so although it is a long version, It was recorded with another vocal pseudo-stereo version “C”. This work is not that “C” …. Certainly, the original LP of “MEATY, BEATY, BIG & BOUNCY” and the current Japanese board jacket CD are “C”, but this work is recorded in “B” called “true stereo version”. is. Previously, it was said that “the digital take is only the original CD version of “MAGIC BUS: THE WHO ON TOUR”, and it was also described in our gift “MAGIC BUS: US ORIGINAL CD”, Actually, it was also included in “1985 Canadian Edition MEATY, BEATY, BIG & BOUNCY”.
