In recent years, “Mike Millard Tape” has been digitized from the master direct or low generation tape. This tape was recorded by Mike Millard, a taper familiar to fans due to the outstanding technology of audience recording. The same label has released several sound sources based on this newly digitized Mike Millard tape, but if you look closely, you can see “Brushed Mike Millard Tape” and “Legendary Mike Millard.” Did you notice that there are two types of tapes? Not all Mike Millard tapes have perfect sound quality, and some of them have a lot of room for improvement, and the “Brushed” series has been significantly improved. Originally, it is almost perfect and there is not much room for sound quality improvement, and the “Legendary” series is the one that keeps the minimum of light editing such as between songs.

This time, The Who’s 1989 live from the “Legendary” series will be released. It is a recording with excellent sound quality that is not ashamed of the legendary. Minimal processing has been applied, such as reducing hiss noise and improving the caged area. The Who’s 25th Anniversary Tour, the official double album “Join Together” has been released, but this title is a big volume of 3 discs that far exceeds it. It is a good title that you can enjoy the 25th anniversary tour as a complete version with a gorgeous organization including brass fee.

近年マスター直、或いはロウ・ジェネレーションのテープからデジタル化が進んでいる“マイク・ミラード・テープ”。オーディエンス録音の卓越した技術でファンにはお馴染みのテーパー、マイク・ミラード氏により録音されたテープです。同レーベルからもこの新デジタル化のマイク・ミラード・テープをマスターにした音源が複数リリースされておりますが、よく見ると“ブラッシュド・マイク・ミラード・テープ”と“レジェンダリー・マイク・ミラード・テープ”の二種類があることにお気付きでしょうか。マイク・ミラード・テープも全てが完璧な音質なわけではなく、中にはかなり手を加えて改良の余地があるものもあり、大幅に手を加えて改良されたものが“ブラッシュド”シリーズ。元々完璧に近く音質改良の余地があまり無く、曲間等の軽い編集など最低限にとどめてあるものが“レジェンダリー”シリーズとなります。

今回は“レジェンダリー”シリーズよりザ・フーの1989年ライヴが登場。レジェンダリーに恥じない素晴らしい音質の録音です。ヒスノイズの低減や籠る部分の改善など、最低限の処理は施されています。ザ・フー25周年の記念のツアーで、オフィシャルでも2枚組アルバム『Join Together』がリリースされていますが、本タイトルはそれをはるかに上回る3枚組の大ヴォリューム。ブラス代など加わったゴージャスな編成で25周年の節目のツアーが完全版として楽しめる好タイトルです。
