そんな本作に記録されているのは「1985年２月６日ボローニャ公演」の超絶級オーディエンス録音。そう、話題を呼んだ新名盤『BOLOGNA 1985 1ST NIGHT』の同会場・翌日公演であり、同一録音家による連続作品なのです。『BOLOGNA 1985 1ST NIGHT（以後、前作）』を体験された方なら、これ以上の説明は必要にないかも知れません。一応、日替わりの曲目違いもありますが、それ以上にあのハイクオリティ・サウンドによる「続編」……いや、前作以上の超・高音質。もうコレだけで心を決められている事でしょう。もちろん、不運にも前作を見逃された方もいらっしゃるわけですから、イチからご説明していきましょう。まずは、当時のスケジュールから……。

これが1984年／1985年のU2。ツアー最終盤には、あのライヴエイドへの出演も実現。ブレイクスルーのきっかけともなりました。本作のボローニャ公演はその約半年前となる「欧州#2」の11公演目。前作の翌日コンサートでした。
そんなショウで記録された本作は「超極上」にして「超絶級」。「超」ヌキに表現できない凄まじいド級サウンドです。前作でも「イタリアでもマイク・ミラードがいた」と絶賛された達人テーパーなのですが、何よりも素晴らしいのは尋常なくオンで極太な芯。前作も距離感がありませんでしたが、本作はちょっとシャレになっていない。この感覚をサウンドボードで喩えるなら、前作は「公式級／FM放送級」。それに対して本作は「卓直結級／IEMs級」とでも表現すれば良いでしょうか。実際には生々しい喝采や拍手も吸い込んだオーディエンス録音なのですが、ボノの歌声や演奏音のダイレクト感はそうとでも言うしかない異次元感覚なのです。あまりにもダイレクトすぎてピークでビビるシーンもないわけでもない。そのため、軽々に「前作を超越！」と断言し難くもあるものの、聴いて一発のインパクトの強烈さは明らかに本作に軍配が上がります。
しかも、本作はその最高峰を更新するもの。ネットに登場した原音はピッチが微妙にズレ（半音の60％ほど）ており、曲順も入れ替わっていました。本作ではそうした欠点を可能な限り補整。「真実の現場音」を忠実に再現しました。
そんな超絶ダイレクト・サウンドで描かれるのは、前作とは似て非なるフルショウ。ここで比較しながらセットを整理しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。前作で聴けたボブ・ディランのカバー「Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door」が落ちた代わりに、「Two Hearts Beat As One」がセット入り。レア度ではカバーの方が珍しいかも知れませんが、やはり聴き応えはオリジナルに勝るものはありません。もちろん、各曲で盛り込まれる有名フレーズも異なる。パターンで同じフレーズも出てきますが、「The Cry / The Electric Co.」ではビートルズの「Give Peace a Chance」が顔を覗かせ、「Gloria」ではヴァン・モリソンの同名曲が盛り込まれる。そして、アンコールラストの「40」。ここではボノも参加したチャリティ・シングル「Do They Know It’s Christmas?」まで飛び出すのです。実のところ、曲順の入れ替え（とそれに伴う曲間カット）があったために大元マスターの確証がなく、永久保存プレス化は見逃されました。しかし、純粋に流れ出てくるサウンド・クオリティとショウの素晴らしさは間違いなくプレス級の新名盤なのです。
艶やかな滑らかさの『BOLOGNA 1985 1ST NIGHT』と、超極太ダイレクトな本作。まさに絶世の美姉妹作です。「史上最高のオーディエンス」とまで言われたエリック・クラプトンのプレス名盤『BOLOGNA 1985（Beano-218）』と同じ達人コレクションなのですが、本作はあの超名盤を前にしても一歩も引かない。「イタリアのミラード」との噂は伊達じゃない。それを無言で証明する音の証拠品。ぜひ、姉妹の２連続でお楽しみください。
