It is a sound source of November 9th from the 1991 “Into the Great Wide Open” tour of Tom Petty & Heartbreakers. Jeff Lynne participated in the album “Into the Great Wide Open”, which was just released at that time, probably due to the influence of Traveling Wilburys. From there, “KINGS HIGHWAY,” “TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE,” “OUT IN THE COLD,” “MAKIN’SOME NOISE,” “BUILT TO LAST,” and the single-cut “LEARNING TO FLY,” “INTO THE GREAT WIDE OPEN.” The lineup includes the familiar iron plate songs “BREAKDOWN” and “REFUGEE”, as well as cover songs such as “PSYCHOTIC REACTION” and “I’M TIRED JOEY BOY”. It is a high-quality master sound source digitized in 2022 from Mike Millard’s master tape and requires almost no modification. It is released from the “Legendary” series.
In recent years, “Mike Millard Tape” has been digitized from the master direct or low generation tape. This tape was recorded by Mike Millard, a taper familiar to fans due to the outstanding technique of audience recording. The label has also released multiple sound sources based on this newly digitized Mike Millard tape, two of which are “Brushed Mike Millard Tape” and “Legendary Mike Millard Tape”. There is a pattern. Not all Mike Millard tapes have perfect sound quality, and some of them have a lot of room for improvement, and the “Brushed” series has been significantly improved. Originally, it is almost perfect and there is not much room for sound quality improvement, and the “Legendary” series is the one that keeps the minimum of light editing such as between songs.
トム・ぺティ＆ハートブレイカーズの1991年“Into the Great Wide Open”のツアーより11月9日の音源です。当時リリースされてばかりのアルバム“Into the Great Wide Open”にはトラベリング・ウィルベリーズの影響かジェフ・リンが参加。そこから『KINGS HIGHWAY』『TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE』『OUT IN THE COLD』『MAKIN’ SOME NOISE』『BUILT TO LAST』、そしてシングル・カットの『LEARNING TO FLY』『INTO THE GREAT WIDE OPEN』が名を連ねる中、お馴染み鉄板曲『BREAKDOWN』『REFUGEE』、そして『PSYCHOTIC REACTION』『I’M TIRED JOEY BOY』と言ったカヴァー曲もラインナップ。マイク・ミラードのマスター・テープより2022年にデジタル化された高音質マスター音源でほとんど修正不要、“レジェンダリー”シリーズから登場です。
近年マスター直、或いはロウ・ジェネレーションのテープからのデジタル化が進んでいる“マイク・ミラード・テープ”。オーディエンス録音の卓越した技術でファンにはお馴染みのテーパー、マイク・ミラード氏により録音されたテープです。同レーベルからもこの新デジタル化のマイク・ミラード・テープをマスターにした音源が複数リリースされており、“ブラッシュド・マイク・ミラード・テープ”と“レジェンダリー・マイク・ミラード・テープ”の二つのパターンがあります。マイク・ミラード・テープも全てが完璧な音質なわけではなく、中にはかなり手を加えて改良の余地があるものもあり、大幅に手を加えて改良されたものが“ブラッシュド”シリーズ。元々完璧に近く音質改良の余地があまり無く、曲間等の軽い編集など最低限にとどめてあるものが“レジェンダリー”シリーズとなっています。
