Includes a studio demo of “THUNDER AND LIGHTNING” which became the last album as a result of THIN LIZZY which joined John Sykes who was a guitarist of TYGERS OF PAN TANG. Two versions of the unreleased song “DON’T LET IT SLIP AWAY”, which is famous to enthusiasts, and two tracks of John Sykes’ demo take are included in the studio demos of all nine songs recorded on the album. First of all, “The Sun Goes Down” is a take that starts with a count, and it does not contain sound effects like the gong sound of the intro that can be heard in the official take, and it is a mix that emphasizes Phil’s bass as a whole. TYGERS OF PAN TANGのギタリストだったジョン・サイクスを加入させたTHIN LIZZYの結果としてラスト・アルバムとなった『THUNDER AND LIGHTNING』のスタジオ・デモを収録。アルバムに収録されている9曲全てのスタジオ・デモに、マニアには有名な未発表曲である「DON’T LET IT SLIP AWAY」が2ヴァージョンと、そしてジョン・サイクスのデモ・テイクを2トラックを収録しています。
まず「The Sun Goes Down」はカウントで始まるテイクで、オフィシャル・テイクで聴くことの出来るイントロの銅鑼の音のような効果音は入っていないし、全体的にフィルのベースが強調されたミックスとなっています。「Bad Habits」もやはりカウントで始まる。「This Is The One」もカウントから始まり、オフィシャル・テイクで聴くことの出来るイントロでのジョンのアーミング・ダウンするようなフレーズやイントロ部分でのバッキング・ソロなどがダビングされていない為、非常にシンプルな印象を受けます。「Thunder And Lightning」はイントロにおける雷鳴のような効果音はオフィシャルに比べて生々しいし、イントロでドラムのカウントが残っており、、ヴォーカルについてもフィルによるサビの部分が歌われていない他、ジョン・サイクスのギター・ソロも別テイクとなっています。「Cold Sweat」ではイントロのリフのバックでカウントが残っているし、ギター・サウンドもエフェクトの効きが弱く、何よりも違うのはフルのヴォーカルが明らかにデモ・テイクらしく歌詞や歌メロが異なっていることが一聴してわかります。「Baby Please Don’t Go」もカウントでスタートするが、イントロからジョンのギターがまだ入っていなしし、フィルのヴォーカルもバッキング含めて異なっています。「Heart Attack」はイントロの前のサウンド・ノイズが残っており、バッキング・ヴォーカルも異なっています。「Don’ Let It Slip Away #1, #2」はマニアの間では有名な未発表曲で、フィルの歌う歌詞が異なり若干#2のほうが長い。「The Holy War」はフィルのヴォーカルが入っていないバッキング・トラックで、ベース、ギター、ドラムのみでキーボードが入っていません。
トラック12、13はジョン・サイクスによる初登場デモ・テイクで、まずトラック12は早めのテンポにセットしたリズム・マシーンをバックにリフとソロを弾き捲くる。トラック13はミディアム・テンポにセットしたリズム・マシーンをバックにフリー・フォームで弾き捲くる。
関係者から流出したテープがこれほど完全な形で聴けるとは。音質も最高クラス。今は亡きフィル・ライノットがアルバム『THUNDER AND LIGHTNING 』にかけた情熱の片鱗が詰まった音源として、過去最高のものと高い評価を受ける「THUNDER AND LIGHTNING DEMOS」がShadesレーベルよりリリースです。

イントロとエンディングの効果音がない。ヴォーカルのDELAY処理が違う。シンセのかぶせが最終ミックスに比べるとずいぶん足りない。ギター・ソロは同じテイクの模様。
