Stevie Ray Vaughan in 1984, who folded “TEXAS FLOOD” and “COULDN’T STAND THE WEATHER” and became a darling of the times at once. Introducing the highest peak master who can witness his brave figure.
This work was filmed on “August 27, 1984 in Munich”. This is a multi-camera pro shot broadcast on the West German broadcasting station BR-KLASSIK’s famous program “Live aus dem Alabama”. Speaking of 1984, not only was it left in the official live album “LIVE AT CARNEGIE HALL”, but also our soundboard albums “SPECTRUM 1984 (Trial-344)” and “STAND IN TEXAS (Uxbridge 146)” are loved as standard. It has been. First of all, let’s look back at the schedule at the time and check the positional relationship of each.
《Production of “COULDN’T STAND THE WEATHER” in January》
・ February 4-March 17: North America # 1 (21 performances)
・ March 21-31: Northern Europe (10 performances)
・ April 15-May 28: North America # 2 (26 performances) ← * STAND IN TEXAS
《“COULDN’T STAND THE WEATHER” will be released on May 15.》
・ June 15-August 17: North America # 3 (43 performances) ← * SPECTRUM 1984
・ August 25th + 27th: West Germany (2 performances) ← Coco
・ September 2-October 21: North America # 4 (24 performances) ← * Official LIVE AT CARNEGIE HALL
・October 26-November 14: Oceania (14 performances)
・November 18-December 31: North America #5 (14 performances)
This is the 1984 SRV. The main battlefield was the United States, the home country, but in the meantime, the invasion of Europe also started. The appearance of “Live aus dem Alabama” of this work is about three months after the release of “COULDN’T STAND THE WEATHER”, and about a month and a half before the recording of “LIVE AT CARNEGIE HALL”. It was one of only two performances in West Germany (by the way, the other one is the outdoor festival “ROCKPALAST FESTIVAL”, and the pro shot is also known).
This work, which conveys such a stage, is exactly the official level. I do not know if there was a digital rebroadcast, but I do not think it was a broadcast at that time. The texture is the same as the film itself, and the tape running feeling and dubbing deterioration peculiar to VHS are completely absent. Moreover, there is no sense of digital processing. Even the smallest details are glossy and beautiful, and there is no artificiality like raising the highlights. That is the perfect visual beauty that makes it more comfortable to say, “I raised it from the official laser disc (although such a thing does not exist).” This live itself has been uploaded to a certain major video site, but this work is the highest peak master that is incomparably beautiful.
The richness of the stage is precisely because it is a TV broadcast, and is depicted with such beauty. Although it is a normal concert format with an audience, the scene is a standard venue for the program “Live aus dem Alabama”, so it has an atmosphere like a half-station studio. And above all, length. It is clear that it is edited according to the broadcast frame, and the density of concentrating two pieces of “TEXAS FLOOD” and “COULDN’T STAND THE WEATHER” on the length of one LP of about 43 minutes is amazing. Finally, let’s organize the set as well.
●Texas Flood (3 songs)
・Pride And Joy/Love Struck Baby/Mary Had A Little Lamb(★)
● Texas Hurricane (4 songs)
・Scuttle Buttin’/Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) (★)/Cold Shot/Tin Pan Alley (★)
* Note: “★” marks are songs that could not be heard at “LIVE AT CARNEGIE HALL”.
“Anyway, it’s beautiful.” It is a superb master that I would like to attach to “COULDN’T STAND THE WEATHER” as an official DVD as it is. There are other longer pro shots and sound boards than this work, but the real pleasure of staring at the climax trio SRV with such visual beauty is irreplaceable. Exactly the absolute one. Please enjoy it to your heart’s content.
★ Multi-camera pro shot of “Munich performance on August 27, 1984”. A signature product digitized from the highest peak master of West Germany’s famous program “Live aus dem Alabama”. The visual beauty is exactly the official grade. The texture is the same as the film itself, and there is no aging or digital processing. Even the smallest details are glossy and beautiful, and there is no artificiality like raising the highlights. With perfect visual beauty, you can enjoy a special stage that looks like a concentrated version of “TEXAS FLOOD” and “COULDN’T STAND THE WEATHER”.
