SCORPIONS in 2004 returned to the world of orthodox hard rock with “UNBREAKABLE” after a long long experimental journey. Two kinds of original masters who can experience the scene at the same time will be released at the same time.
This work is the first to be released at the same time. It is a powerful audience recording of “June 12, 2004 Lichtenfolde performance (Netherlands)”. Speaking of “UNBREAKABLE”, it was exactly the era of the revival of the Scorpion. SCORPIONS, which had continued experimental projects with electro pop, orchestra, and acoustics, has returned to the original HR route. The tour was also huge for two and a half years, during which two official works “ONE NIGHT IN VIENNA” and “LIVE AT WACKEN OPEN AIR” were also produced. What is the position of this work in that? First, let’s look back at the overall picture of the world tour.

This is the 2004-2006 SCORPIONS. The Lichtenfolde performance of this work was the 12th performance of the early stage “Europe # 1” that had started before the album was released. This “Europe # 1” is also left in the official video “ONE NIGHT IN VIENNA”, and this work was also 13 days before that.
This work, which vacuum-packed such a scene, is an original master brought through a unique route, and its sound is furiously on and powerful direct. This day was also the Dutch music festival “Arrow Rock Festival”, but the site is a historic site that is also used as a motocross race venue. Perhaps it was an outdoor stage specially set up there, but even if you listen carefully with headphones, you can’t feel the hall rumbling component in the sound of this work, and you can only think of it as an outdoor with zero reverberation. In terms of timbre, the audience color is rich, and it is not mistaken for a sound board even from realistic enthusiasm, but the vividness and separate feeling of each sound is a listening response that is as good as around FM broadcasting.
A full show that returns to Masamichi hard rock and blows out hot air with its thick and realistic sound. Although it is a little short only for festival appearances, the repertoire that could not be heard even in the official video “ONE NIGHT IN VIENNA” will be shown in about 78 minutes. … and it looks like this. The number of “CRAZY WORLD” numbers is increasing, but rather than being rare, it gives the show a lively momentum. The performance mood is similar to “ONE NIGHT IN VIENNA”, and while it is like a scene experience board of that masterpiece video, the uninterrupted concentration because of the short set is more than that. In addition, songs around “Lovedrive” and “Hit Between The Eyes” were not included in “LOS ANGELES 2004 (Shades 1767)” released at the same time. You will understand how energetic and up-oriented show is.
The acoustic and orchestral performances that brought out the charm of the masterpieces were wonderful, but the essence of SCORPIONS is still hard rock. A live album where you can experience the scene in 2004, which was the starting point of the return to the royal road that continues to this day, with thick and real sounds. 長い長い実験の旅を終え、『UNBREAKABLE』で正調ハードロックの世界へと帰還した2004年のSCORPIONS。その現場を極上体験できるオリジナル・マスターが２種同時リリース決定です。
本作は同時リリースの第一弾。「2004年６月12日リヒテンフォールデ公演（オランダ）」の強力オーディエンス録音です。『UNBREAKABLE』と言えば、まさに蠍団復活の時代でした。エレクトロ・ポップやオケ共演、アコースティックと実験的な企画を続けていたSCORPIONSが満を持して本来のHR路線に復帰。そのツアーも２年半に及ぶ巨大なもので、その間に２つの公式作『ONE NIGHT IN VIENNA』『LIVE AT WACKEN OPEN AIR』も製作されました。その中で本作のポジションはいかなるものなのか。まずはワールド・ツアーの全体像から振り返ってみましょう。

これが2004年ー2006年のSCORPIONS。本作のリヒテンフォールデ公演はアルバム発売前から始まっていた序盤「欧州#1」の12公演目にあたるコンサートでした。この「欧州#1」は公式映像『ONE NIGHT IN VIENNA』にも残されており、本作はその13日前でもありました。
そんな現場を真空パックした本作は、独自ルートでもたらされたオリジナル・マスターで、そのサウンドは猛烈にオンで力強いダイレクト。この日はオランダの音楽祭“Arrow Rock Festival”でもあったのですが、現場はモトクロスのレース会場にも使用されている史跡。恐らくそこに特設された野外ステージだったのか、本作のサウンドはヘッドフォンで耳を澄ませてもホール鳴り成分が感じられず、反響ゼロの野外にしか思えない。音色的にはオーディエンス色が濃厚ですし、リアルな熱狂からもサウンドボードと間違えたりはしませんが、１音１音くっきりとした鮮やかさとセパレート感はFM放送辺りにも負けない聴き応えです。
その極太リアル・サウンドで画かれるのは、正道ハードロックに立ち返った熱気吹き出すフルショウ。フェス出演だけにやや短めではあるのですが、約78分の持ち時間には公式映像『ONE NIGHT IN VIENNA』でも聴けなかったレパートリーも披露してくれる。ここで比較しながら整理してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。『CRAZY WORLD』ナンバーが増量しているわけですが、それはレア云々というよりショウにキビキビと快活な勢いを宿らせている。演奏ムードとしては『ONE NIGHT IN VIENNA』に似ていて、あの名作映像の現場体験盤のようでもある一方、ショートセットだからこその途切れない集中力はそれ以上なのです。また、「Lovedrive」「Hit Between The Eyes」辺りは同時リリースの『LOS ANGELES 2004（Shades 1767）』にもなかった曲。いかにエネルギッシュでアップ主体のショウなのかがご理解頂けるでしょう。
名曲の魅力を引き出したアコースティックやオーケストラ共演も素晴らしかったですが、やはりSCORPIONSの真髄は正調ハードロックに尽きる。現在まで続く王道回帰の起点ともなった2004年の現場を極太＆リアル・サウンドで体験できるライヴアルバム。どうぞ、存分にお楽しみください。
