そんなショウで記録された本作は、まさに極上のオーディエンス録音。モノにしたのは90年代末から2000年代初頭の大阪で活動していた名録音家。当店では、この達人コレクションをオリジナル・マスターから復刻しており、最近ではウリ・ジョン・ロートの『OSAKA 2001 FRONT ROW（Shades 1467）』が話題になったのも記憶に新しいところです。あの超名盤でも明らかなように、この達人の真髄はギター・サウンドの巧さ。それだけにSANTANA篇である本作も名作になるべくしてなった銘品なのです。
実際、本作はウルトラクリアな空気感が透き通り、そのド真ん中をエッジまで鮮やかな芯が真っ直ぐに貫く。さすがに最前列でアンプの音まで拾ったウリ篇ほどのダイレクト感は望めませんが、その代わりバンド全体で均整の取れたバランスは最高。鳴りも瑞々しく、ホール鳴りもディテールを隠すことなくダイナミズムだけを美味しく演出してくれるのです。
