The Rolling Stones “PHILADELPHIA SPECIAL”, which is still loved as the most important sound source of the 1972 live concert. The masterpieces among the masterpieces that appeared in analog LP in the mid-1980s and made enthusiasts all over the world say that, coupled with their attractive artwork, the package and sound source have been taken over even after moving to the CD era. So much. Even if you’re not really a maniac, there are probably many people who have the CD version of Philaspe released so far. It’s basically a rough mix, but it’s still fascinating to be able to enjoy the Stones’ climax 1972 American tour in full-length multitracked stereo.
However, the sound quality of the CD version of Philaspe is undeniably different from that of the LP version, and the sound quality was completely different from the TSP board that was first released under the name of Philaspe. (The picture of the jacket was different). So it’s been best since the VGP label released a version that respected the original LP in every way, but it still felt different from the original analog.
If so, isn’t it the best to reproduce the original Philaspe by reprinting it from the original LP? From this point of view, it was a two-disc version of Philaspe (hereinafter referred to as “already released”) released in 2020. The already-released version contains a faithful reproduction of the LP on the first piece, and the combination of the “Expanded” version, which adds missing parts and unrecorded songs on the second piece, gained popularity and sold out in no time. ..

However, behind the popularity, many people pointed out and commented that “I think the concept of reprinting from LP is the correct answer, but the sound quality was different from that of the principal image …”. Since the original is LP, we paid close attention to noise processing etc., but since the original was a sound source that spread in cassettes, the sound quality may have changed more than necessary as a result. .. In particular, many people pointed out that “there is no delicate texture (also unique to the cassette) that was found in the original LP”. On the other hand, it is also a fact that the re-release was long-awaited because it is a limited press CD of the classic Philaspe.
Therefore, unlike the existing board, we decided to re-release only the main body of Philaspe, but asked another person in charge to finish the sound processing different from the previous one. Yes, I asked Graf Zeppelin for this overhaul. The already-released board had outstanding bass plumpness for the above reason, but the original delicacy of the LP could not be felt … As a result of a thorough review of that, Graf Zeppelin was completely different from the already-released board. The finished product has been reborn into a feel that is reminiscent of the original LP.
It was
And while Philaspe was a very popular stereo sound board, it was a tape twist that was noticeable in some songs that had been sick since the LP era. One of the most famous is the big twist that happens when “Midnight Rambler” is about 8 minutes away. Speaking of “Yore” of the same song on the 1972 tour, it is a new memory that Graf Zeppelin adjusted the song “Yore” at “FORT WORTH 1972 LATE SHOW”, but it is actually the same as Philaspe. The song is also a take from Fort Worth, the second show. If so, Graf Zeppelin knows it without permission. This time as well, you can adjust to a wonderful sense of stability and listen with peace of mind.
More than that, the one that was notorious for a long time as the “Yore” of Philaspe was the “Yore” in the 2-minute range of “All Down The Line”. It can be said that this is uncorrectable with technology in the 1990s and early 21st century, and in fact it was a neglected play with those items. This is a big blemishes in the classics, and on the contrary, even the already-released board is a neglected play.
Graf Zeppelin, the master of adjustment, showed his true essence, and it was a wonderful adjustment. The problem that everyone had been listening to while giving up as a drawback of Philaspe was finally solved, and now it is finally possible to listen with peace of mind until the end. The sound quality, which was controversial in the previous release, has been restored to the texture of LP, and the final re-release of Philaspe is now available!
