Rocket 88’s only album released in 1981 was released as a gift item using the CD released by Wounded Bird Records, a reissue specialty label that released many hidden WEA albums in 2008. This is an introduction. As many of you may know, the album is produced by Ian Stewart and centered on piano, Charlie Watts and Alexis Korner, and musicians such as Jack Bruce, Kris Farrow, Chris Hodgkins and Mickey Waller. It is a work produced with the guest. The content is playing jump blues, swing, and British blues. All of them are music that is said to have the same roots as the blues. For Stones fans, Charlie and Ian are deeply popular for playing their roots music. This work was recorded live at a club in Hannover, West Germany in November 1979. It was recorded using Rolling Stones Mobile Studio, but it is also interesting that the recording has an atmosphere from the 1940s to the 1950s, including the atmosphere. It’s a solid stereo recording, but it feels like an audience recording. Jack Bruce is in charge of vocals in 2 and Alexis Korner is in charge of vocals in 4 and 7, but I’m glad that he sings coolly in jersey. By the way, this album was released in various countries as an analog version in the United Kingdom, the United States and Europe, but it was not released in the domestic version. It seems that vinyl records are still distributed in the second-hand market, but CDs are rarely distributed and difficult to obtain. It seems that all the CDs on this label are often hard to come by after a period of time. You can enjoy it as a work that Ian Stewart and Charlie casually worked on their roots music. And the jacket that Charlie is designing is nice!

81年に発売されたRocket 88の唯一のアルバムを08年にWEA系の隠れた名盤を数多くリリースしている再発専門レーベルであるWounded Bird Recordsが発売したCDを使用してギフト・アイテムとしてのご紹介です。ご存知の方もかなり多いとは思いますがのアルバムはイアン・スチュワートがプロデュースとピアノ、チャーリー・ワッツ、アレクシス・コーナーが中心になりジャック・ブルース、クリス・ファロー、クリス・ホッジキンス、ミッキー・ウォーラーといったミュージシャンをゲストに迎えて制作された作品です。内容はジャンプ・ブルース、スウィング、そしてブリティッシュ・ブルースを演奏しています。いずれもブルースと同根と言われている音楽ばかりです。ストーンズ・ファンにとってはチャーリーとイアンが自分達のルーツ・ミュージックを演奏しているとでディープな人気を誇っています。この作品は79年11月に西ドイツのハノーバーのクラブでのライブ録音となっています。Rolling Stones Mobile Studioを使用しての録音されていますが雰囲気も含めて何やら40年代から50年代にかけての雰囲気がする録音になっているのも面白いとこです。しっかりとしたステレオ録音なのですがどことなくオーディエンス録音のような雰囲気がしたりします。2ではジャック・ブルースが4と7ではアレクシス・コーナーがヴォーカルを担当していますがクールにジャージーに歌っているのは嬉しいですね。さてこのアルバムは英米や欧州ではアナログ盤として各国で発売されましたが国内盤での発売はありませんでした。中古市場ではアナログ盤の流通は現在でもあるようですがCDの流通はほとんどなく入手が困難です。このレーベルのCDはどれも一定の期間を経過すると入手困難になることが多いように感じられます。イアン・スチュワートとチャーリーが自分達のルーツ・ミュージックにさり気なく取り組んだ作品としてお楽しめいただけるハズです。そしてチャーリーがデザインを手がけているジャケットがナイスですね！
