Wembley Stadium in 1986 was a symbol of the late QUEEN and made Brian May call it “the best show of my life.” A sound board album was born that will pour the live performance into the brain as it is unprocessed. It is a release decision with permanent preservation press 2CD.
Engraved on this work is “July 12, 1986 Wembley Stadium Performance”. It is the stereo sound board recording. This show is also super famous for its official CD / DVD that everyone loves, and you may be wondering what to do now. However, in fact, the official CD / DVD was also a processed work with corrections and overdubs. On the other hand, this work is a complete live album that reproduces the full show by making full use of valuable materials before overdubs. Before the quality you care about, first check from the show itself. QUEEN has stood on the Wembley Stadium stage five times, all of which are left in professional shots/soundboards. This is also a good opportunity, so let’s put together a collection of Wembley Stadium performances that looks at his entire career.

All 5 performances above. Most of them were in the style of participating in the event, but the two performances in 1986 were one act of the “MAGIC Tour”. Currently, you can enjoy footage from both days on the official 2-disc DVD “LIVE AT WEMBLEY STADIUM,” but the second day has long been famous for its live album/video. This work is also performed on the second day.
Now, this work conveys the true appearance of such a symbolic performance. It is a master produced by overseas enthusiasts, and five kinds of records are being used. Some of them are the main source that plays the core of the live, and there is also a sub-source to connect between songs. Let’s check the contents here.

… and it looks like this. The two types of sub sources are only cheers between songs and MC. The live performance itself has three main sources, and it does not overlap with the official version at all. “B” is especially important. It is a live broadcast version by “CAPITAL RADIO” and is the only sound board sound source before being overdubbed. However, this live broadcast version is approximately 77 minutes long and is not a full show. Therefore, it is supplemented with the highest peak master “A” of the rebroadcast version and audience recording “C” (in addition, “C” is our “WEMBLEY STADIUM 1986 COMPLETE (Wardour-204)” which is considered the best recording. seems to have been adopted, but the editing work was done by overseas enthusiasts. It was not produced at our shop).
And the editing technique is very impressive. Not only are the pitches of each source accurately aligned, but the tones are as close as possible, and the connections are seamless and beautiful. As expected, I can tell the difference between the sound board and “C”, but I don’t know when the sound boards were switched. The reason why we are reprinting the MC from the official “D” is to increase the number of sound boards as much as possible and minimize the sense of discomfort.
The true appearance of the legendary concert is depicted with such gem quality. On the second day of Wembley, Freddie is nervous from the first day as it is assumed to be broadcast on TV / radio. Brian also misses the tapping solo of “One Vision”. In the official work, those parts were replaced and refined as a musical work, but in this work you can enjoy the true live performance as it is. The more you listen to the official version, the more fresh you will feel.
Along with Kano’s “LIVE AID”, the 1986 Wembley Stadium performance was also a symbol of the late QUEEN. そんな本作に刻まれているのは「1986年７月12日ウェンブリー・スタジアム公演」。そのステレオ・サウンドボード録音です。このショウは万人が愛する公式CD／DVDも超有名ですし、今さら何を……と思われるかも知れません。しかし、実は公式CD／DVDは修正やオーバーダブも施された加工作品でもあったのです。それに対し、本作はオーバーダブ以前の貴重素材を駆使し、フルショウを再現した完全版ライヴアルバムなのです。その気になるクオリティの前に、まずはショウそのものからチェック。QUEENはウェンブリー・スタジアムのステージに５回立っており、そのすべてがプロショット／サウンドボードで残されている。良い機会でもありますので、キャリア全体を俯瞰したウェンブリー・スタジアム公演コレクションを整理してみましょう。

以上の全５公演。ほとんどがイベントに参加するスタイルでしたが、1986年の２公演は“MAGIC Tour”の一幕。現在では２枚組公式DVD『LIVE AT WEMBLEY STADIUM』で両日の映像が楽しめるわけですが、古くからライヴ盤／ビデオで有名だったのは２日目の方。本作も同じく２日目公演です。
さて、そんな象徴公演の真の姿を伝えるのが本作。海外マニアが制作したマスターで、実に５種もの記録が駆使されています。中にはライヴの中核を担うメイン・ソースもあれば、曲間を繋ぐためのサブ・ソースもある。ここでその内容も確認しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。２種のサブ・ソースは曲間の歓声やMCのみ。生演奏自体は３種のメイン・ソースでして、公式版とはまったく被らないわけです。特に重要なのは「Ｂ」。“CAPITAL RADIO”による生放送版でして、オーバーダブされる以前の唯一のサウンドボード音源なのです。ただし、この生放送版は約77分で、フルショウとはいきません。そこで、再放送版の最高峰マスター「Ａ」やオーディエンス録音「Ｃ」で補完されているのです（なお「Ｃ」にはベスト録音とされる当店の『WEMBLEY STADIUM 1986 COMPLETE（Wardour-204）』が採用されているようですが、編集作業はあくまで海外マニア。当店で制作したわけではありません）。
そして、その編集技が非常に見事。各ソースのピッチが正確に揃っているのはもちろん、音色も可能な限り近づけられ、接続もシームレスで美しい。さすがにサウンドボードと「Ｃ」の違いは分かりますが、サウンドボード同士はいつ切り替わったのかも分からない。公式「Ｄ」からMCを復刻しているのも、サウンドボードを極力増やして違和感を最小限に抑えるためなのです。
そんな珠玉のクオリティで描かれるのは、伝説コンサートの真の姿。ウェンブリー２日目はテレビ／ラジオでの放送が前提とあって初日よりフレディが緊張気味。ブライアンも「One Vision」のタッピング・ソロをミスったりしています。公式作では、そうしたパートを差し替えて音楽作品として磨き込んでいったわけですが、本作は真実の生演奏をそのまま楽しめる。公式版を聴き込んだ方ほど新鮮に感じる事でしょう。
かの“LIVE AID”と並び、後期QUEENの象徴でもあった1986年ウェンブリー・スタジアム公演。その生放送サウンドボードを活用しつつ、オーバーダブなしのフルショウを楽しめるように作り込まれた完全ライヴアルバムです。海外マニアの情熱と精緻な編集技を永久保存するプレス２CD。心ゆくまでお楽しみください。
