Disc 1にはイギリスＢＢＣが作製した「THE QUEEN SPECIAL」の日本放送ヴァージョンを収録。英国では50分番組として制作されましたが、日本は国営放送の音楽番組「ヤング・ミュージック・ショウ」で、1981年8月19日に、40分枠で放送されました。（前半のWe Will Rock You(fast)と中盤のSomebody To Loveはまるまるカット。他にも楽曲の一部を微妙にカットして何とか40分に収めています。）リアルタイムのファンの方は、ちょうど夏休みの夕方6時からこの番組を観た方も多いのではないでしょうか。オープニングからエンディングまで完璧に収録。マニアが当時、録画したステレオ放送版を使用しており、画質・音質ともに、申し分ないクオリティで収録されています。（2種の録画マスターを使用しており、冒頭15秒を通常版、それ以降はラストまで高画質・高画質マスターより収録しています。繋ぎもキレイに仕上げてありますので指摘されなければ判らないレベルです。）内容は1979年12月26日ロンドンのハマースミス･オデオンでの「カンボジア難民救済コンサート」よりの収録で、途中にAnother One Bites The DustとFlash’s Theme の通常版とは違うディフ・プロモ・クリップが(Another One Bites The Dustの50秒目と1分35秒目で凄いエディットがされており、テンポが全く合いません。こういった処理も時代を感じさせてくれます。このFlash’s Themeのディフ版はなかなか面白いです。）、そして数曲の前に街角インタビューや、ユニークな演出がが入りそれがモチーフ（またはイントロ）となって曲に繋がるという独自の編集がなされています。また日本放送ゆえ、オリジナルな対訳が各所で観ることができ、その独特の訳文も、楽しい見所になっています。スーパーマンに肩組されてWe Will Rock Youの姿に、当時、テレビの前でシビれて見入ってしまったファンも多かったのではないでしょうか。時期的には1979年11月後半から12月末にかけてイギリスを回った「CRAZY TOUR」の最終公演であり、「The Game」発売は半年後、基本的には「Jazz」ツアーの延長線上のセットですが、このツアーでは、同年10月に先行シングル・リリースし大ヒットしたCrazy Little Thing Called Love、Save Meの2曲が新曲として演奏されました。（どちらも対訳付で収録されており、この初期ライヴ・ヴァージョンは、フレディの歌声が実に感動的で、素晴らしい見所になっています。ただしSave Meのギターソロはブライアンが音を外してメチャクチャになっています。）この時期らしいハードでストレートな演奏は素晴らしく、ファンならずとも、その魅力的なパフォーマンスに、画面に目が釘付けになってしまうことでしょう！40分とは言え、日本中のお茶の間に、この凄い映像が水曜の夕方6時～6時40分に放送された衝撃は、当時のロックファンにとっては衝撃だったのではないでしょうか。

変わりまして、ディスク２。こちらは1981年に国営ラジオで放送された「THE QUEEN SPECIAL」を１時間収録。ディスク1の映像同様にイギリスのBBCが作製した「THE QUEEN SPECIAL」のラジオ放送版。人気DJによって「BBCアンコール・アワー」という企画タイトルで、ホワイトスネイク、エリック・クラプトン、ジャパン、クィーン、クルセイダーズと５日連続で放送された番組の４日目を収録しています。「元々がテレビ用の素材だったわけですが、それの音声部分をFMの良質な電波で聴いてもらおうという企画」であり、同年８月の国営テレビ放送は時間枠の関係で４０分に短縮されていましたが、このラジオ番組では、DJも熱心に解説している通り、５０分のプログラムの全編をまるまる収録しています。よって日本テレビ放送ではカットされたWe Will Rock You、Somebody To Loveも収録しています。途中の寸劇風のコメントも含め、テレビ番組用に造られたプログラムを音だけラジオで聴く、というのも妙なものではありますが、「THE QUEEN SPECIAL」が日本ではこんな風にラジオ放送されたんだなぁと言う事が判る、ある意味、貴重な記録と言えるでしょう。元がテレビですので、「途中でいきなりフェイドアウトしたり、カットが入ったり、寸劇が入るのは元からで、私たちがやったのではありません」とエクスキューズしているのも面白かったりします。人気絶頂期の放送ゆえ、多くのファンがリアルタイムで聴いて、エアチェックしたテープに聴き入っていたのではないでしょうか。ラジオが洋楽ファンにとって非常に重要なものだった時代の貴重なサンプルとも言えるでしょう。

★1980年制作のBBCクイーン特番「THE QUEEN SPECIAL」の、1981年日本テレビ放送とラジオ放送の2ヴァージョンを収録。マニアックな企画ではありますが、日本放送版は、ここでしか観れない＆聴けない大変貴重な記録です。
