THE POLICE in 1979 spread the impact of its debut all over the world and even made a breakthrough in the single “Message In A Bottle”. Three kinds of sound board albums that inject aggressive live performances into the brain will be released at the same time! Introducing a press CD that permanently preserves the highest peak master supervised by a researcher.
This work is the second of such three consecutive works. This is a stereo soundboard recording of “June 22, 1979 Amsterdam performance”. Speaking of 1979, it is the time when “OUTLANDOS D’AMOUR Tour” and “REGGATTA DE BLANC Tour” intersect, but this work corresponds to the former. In the simultaneous release “PINKPOP FESTIVAL 1979 (Wardour-522)”, I saw the schedule with “1979” as the keyword, so let’s use “OUTLANDOS D’AMOUR Tour” as a starting point.

This is the whole picture of “OUTLANDOS D’AMOUR Tour”. He started active live activities in 1977, before his debut, but it wasn’t until just before the release of “OUTLANDOS D’AMOUR” that the title “OUTLANDOS D’AMOUR Tour” came to be. I circuited European countries and North America many times and spread the shock wave of my debut all over the world. The Amsterdam performance of this work is the final edition of such a world tour. It was the 20th concert of “Europe # 3”. Also, “PINKPOP FESTIVAL 1979” released at the same time this week is the same “Europe # 3”, so let’s zoom in further and check the positional relationship with each other.

This is the details of “Europe # 3”. Most of the tours in Europe are in the UK, and “PINKPOP FESTIVAL 1979” is a spot performance that appeared in the meantime. On the other hand, the Amsterdam performance of this work is the fourth performance that moved to continental Europe at the end. Even in the same Netherlands, there were two performances that were quite far apart.
This work recorded at such a show is a masterpiece of the best recommended even in the three works released at the same time this week. The sound is ridiculously superb and rugged. As a matter of course, it is in close contact with zero distance, and the graininess and elasticity of each note, and the stereo feeling of bread that blows from one end to the other without a sharp outline are also abnormal. There is a big cheer mixed between songs, but the sound of the performance and the vividness of the vocals are directly connected. All three press titles released at the same time this week are “completely official class”, but I would like to call this work an even higher “official transcendental class”. It is a transcendental piece to that extent.
And the show itself is exceptional. As mentioned above, it is also the same “Europe # 3” leg as “PINKPOP FESTIVAL 1979”, but this work is longer than “PINKPOP FESTIVAL 1979” starring at the festival. Let’s check the set while comparing here.

…… And it looks like this. “PINKPOP FESTIVAL 1979” was not only a festival, but the appearance frame itself was short just before the big break. This work wasn’t a complete full set because “Landlord” hadn’t been broadcast yet, but even so, the listening response for about an hour is incomparable. It’s different from the festival where the performing band cuts the ho, but the tension of the performance is still high enough.
After the tour, THE POLICE will finish the masterpiece “REGGATTA DE BLANC” and push forward to breakthrough. What is sealed in this work is the great enthusiasm just before that. A transcendental stereo sound board that engraves the fierce live performance that burns with ambition in the folds of the brain. Please enjoy it anytime, forever with the permanent storage press CD!

これが「欧州#3」の詳細。欧州とは言っても大半は英国ツアーで、『PINKPOP FESTIVAL 1979』はその合間にポツンと出演したスポット公演。それに対し、本作のアムステルダム公演は終盤に大陸ヨーロッパへ移動しての４公演目。同じオランダでも結構離れた２公演だったのです。
そんなショウで記録された本作は、今週同時リリースの３作でもイチオシの大名盤。そのサウンドたるや、とんでもなく極上でしてゴリッゴリのバッキバキ。ゼロ距離ド密着なのは当然として、１音１音の粒立ちと弾力感、そしてシャープな輪郭がハンパなく端から端まで吹っ飛ぶパンのステレオ感も異常。曲間などで盛大な喝采もミックスされてはいますが、演奏音とヴォーカルの生々しさは卓直結風なのです。今週同時リリースのプレス３タイトルはいずれも「完全オフィシャル級」なのですが、本作は更に上行く「オフィシャル超越クラス」と呼びたい。それほどのまでの超絶なる１枚なのです。
そして、ショウ自体も格別。前述のように『PINKPOP FESTIVAL 1979』と同じ「欧州#3」レッグでもありますが、本作はフェス出演の『PINKPOP FESTIVAL 1979』よりも長尺。ここで比較しながらセットも確認しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。『PINKPOP FESTIVAL 1979』はフェスというだけでなく、大ブレイク前だけに出演枠自体も短かった。本作も「Landlord」が未放送だったために完全フルセットとはいかなかったのですが、それでも約１時間の聴き応えは比べものにならない。出演バンドが鎬を削るフェスとは違いますが、それでも演奏のテンションも十分に高いのです。
ツアー終了後には名作『REGGATTA DE BLANC』を仕上げ、ブレイクスルーへと一気呵成に突き進むことになるTHE POLICE。本作に封じられているのは、その直前にある大熱演なのです。野心に燃える苛烈な生演奏を脳のヒダに刻み込む超絶級のステレオ・サウンドボード。どうぞ、永久保存プレスCDでいつでも、いつまでもお楽しみください！
