This is the whole picture of “OUTLANDOS D’AMOUR Tour”. Speaking of sound boards at this time, we have introduced masterpiece press titles such as “CHICAGO 1979 PRE-FM (Wardour-512)”, “PINKPOP FESTIVAL 1979 (Wardour-522)” and “PARADISO 1979 (Wardour-523)”. , The Berkeley performance of this work is much earlier than that. It was the 4th performance of “North America # 2”, about 4 months after the release of “OUTLANDOS D’AMOUR”.
This show was broadcast on the radio station “KSAN RADIO”, and its FM sound board is a classic that has produced a number of existing groups. It has been loved as a representative sound source of the early THE POLICE. This work is the highest peak update board of the large classic sound board. The contents are transferred from the pre-FM broadcast master. Of course, as with the recent releases, it is directly digitized from the best masters selected by THE POLICE researchers, and the mastering is also supervised by the researchers.
The sound is certainly the highest ever. Since it has been known as “official class” for a long time, there are various states that have already occurred, but the radio wave condition is unstable, and the edges disappear due to dubbing and the sound becomes round. Or there is a sharp sound source (maybe it was dropped on the spot like this work), but this time, the mid-low range is spoiled and the sound is thin. However, even if I try my best to search for Ara, I can’t see such a drawback. Of course, there are no radio noise or dubbing marks, but that is not enough. The details are digitized by high-precision transfer, and the core is extremely thick and thick, and the edges are sharp. Even the slightest sound that a hand touches the strings between songs is a reality that makes you feel the vibration of the strings.

これが“OUTLANDOS D’AMOUR Tour”の全体像。この時期のサウンドボードと言えば『CHICAGO 1979 PRE-FM（Wardour-512）』『PINKPOP FESTIVAL 1979（Wardour-522）』『PARADISO 1979（Wardour-523）』といった名作プレス・タイトルもご紹介してきたわけですが、本作のバークレー公演はそれよりグッと初期。『OUTLANDOS D’AMOUR』リリースの約４ヶ月後となる「北米#2」の４公演目にあたるコンサートでした。
このショウはラジオ局“KSAN RADIO”で放送され、そのFMサウンドボードが数々の既発群を生んできた定番。初期THE POLICEを代表する音源として愛されてきました。本作は、その大定番サウンドボードの最高峰更新盤なのです。その中身は、プレFMの放送原盤からトランスファーされたもの。もちろん、ここ最近のリリースと同じくTHE POLICE研究家が選定したベスト・マスターからダイレクトにデジタル化されており、マスタリングも研究家による監修によって仕上げられています。
そのサウンドは確かに過去最高峰。古くから「オフィシャル級」として知られているだけに様々な状態の既発がありますが、電波状況が不安定だったり、ダビングによってエッジが消えて丸い音になっていたり。あるいは（本作と同じく現場落としなのか）シャープな音源もあるにはありますが、今度は逆に中低音がスポイルされて痩せたサウンドになっている。ところが、本作は全力でアラ探ししてもそうした欠点がまるで見られない。電波ノイズやダビング痕ゼロなのは当然としても、それだけでは済まない。精度の高いトランスファーによってディテールは微細部まで余すことなくデジタル化され、芯は芯は極太でぶ厚く、エッジもシャープ。曲間に弦に手が触れて出てしまうようなわずかな音でさえ、弦の振動を感じるようなリアリティなのです。
そんな究極サウンドで描かれるのは、全米侵攻に乗り出したばかりの燃え上がるパフォーマンス。放送枠に沿った内容は約54分ではありますが、その中身はステージテンションで爆上げされた「本生版のOUTLANDOS D’AMOUR」となるもの。ここでセットも整理しておきましょう。

The main press CD is a sound board album that directly pours the early enthusiasm into the brain even in the “OUTLANDOS D’AMOUR Tour”. It is the highest peak update board. It is an eternal masterpiece that shines specially even in many sound boards. As a bonus to celebrate its birth, we have prepared the best soundboard album of the same period, which can be said to be a sister edition.
What is recorded in this work is “March 9, 1979 Dallas performance”. That stereo soundboard recording. This show is “North America # 2” like the main press CD, and it was the latest concert 5 days after the Berkeley performance (after 4 performances).
This show is also known for having soundboard recordings left, and this work is the highest peak. It is the best master carefully selected by the same researcher as the main press CD. The quality is just the best. The main press CD had an official-like work feeling only on the FM sound board by a famous broadcasting station, but this work is bare. It’s a rough mix that is directly connected to the mix table, and the bare core is screwed into the brain with almost no cheers.
Of course, that’s not bad. If you are looking for an “official substitute”, the main press CD is definitely better, but this “bare feeling” is the key point of sound board enthusiasts. “If you want a sense of presence, listen to the audience. The real thrill of the soundboard isn’t there!” This work lets you enjoy the pleasure to the fullest.
Moreover, there are two points that transcend the press CD in terms of content, not just the sound directly connected to the sound. One is the sound check of the day.
