“Hakone Aphrodite” is a myth of Japanese Western music history that is celebrating its 50th anniversary and is making great progress both officially and informally. Introducing Press 2CD, which permanently stores the apex record.
The top record is the best audience recording where you can fully experience “August 7, 1971: Hakone performance”. At the end of last year, a true first day recording was unearthed, and it was a new development that “all the recordings that were thought to be the first day (August 6th) were the second day (August 7th)”. This work makes full use of the many records of “2nd day” and finished it as a full live album with the highest peak sound.
If you have read this far, you probably have a 5-disc set of “APHRODITE 1971 ARCHIVES (Sigma 220)”, but this work makes it easy to make the “most delicious part” of that blockbuster. What you can taste. Moreover, it is not just a reprint of an existing copy. It is “remade from the original with higher precision” by the work of inspiration by “GRAF ZEPPELIN”.
The outline alone is not enough, so let’s explain it from the beginning. First of all, basic knowledge. Let’s organize the 5 types of audience recordings recorded in “Hakone 2nd day (August 7th)”.
50周年を迎え、公式／非公式を問わず大きな進展を見せている日本洋楽史の神話“箱根アフロディーテ”。その頂点記録を永久保存するプレス２CDが登場です。
その頂点記録とは「1971年８月７日：箱根公演」をフル体験できる極上オーディエンス録音。昨年末、真なる初日録音が発掘されて「これまで初日（８月６日）と思われてきた録音はすべて２日目（８月７日）だった」という新展開を迎えたわけですが、本作は数ある「２日目」の記録を駆使し、最高峰サウンドのフル・ライヴアルバムに仕上げたものなのです。
ここまでお読みになった方は恐らく、５枚組の『APHRODITE 1971 ARCHIVES（Sigma 220）』が浮かんでいると思いますが、本作はあの超大作の中でも「一番美味しいパート」を手軽に味わえるもの。しかも、単なる既発の復刻コピーではない。「GRAF ZEPPELIN」による入魂の作業で「より高精度で大元から作り直した」ものなのです。
概要だけでは今ひとつピンと来ない話でもありますので、具体的にイチからご説明していきましょう。まずは基礎知識。「箱根２日目（８月７日）」で記録された５種のオーディエンス録音を整理しておきましょう。
●RECORDER 1 （モノラル録音：約46分）
ショップ販売さえされなかった幻の名作アナログ『PEACE RECORD』のモノラル録音。後述のRECORDER 5が登場するまで「シンバライン」を唯一記録していた貴重な伝統録音です。
●RECORDER 2（ステレオ録音：約62分）
もっとも有名で、現在にいたるまで最高音質を誇るステレオ録音。当店では『APHRODITE (Sirene 160)』や『APHRODITE 1971 (Sigma 133)』でもお馴染みです。
●RECORDER 3（モノラル録音：約31分）
長さ／クオリティの双方で最高峰ポイントのないモノラル録音。貴重ながら現在では帯に短したすきに長し。『APHRODITE (Sirene 160)』のディスク２で聴けますが、本作には使用されていません。
●RECORDER 4（モノラル録音：約55分）
Reel to Reelで発掘された名音源。ノーカットの「太陽讃歌」や「エコーズ」が史上初めて完全収録されました。
●RECORDER 5（モノラル録音：約100分）
ノーカットの「神秘」を初めて聴かせてくれた衝撃の最長録音。「太陽讃歌」「シンバライン」もノーカットなら某人気DJによる終演の挨拶までも収録。謎が謎を呼んだこの日のセットリストを完全解明した功績も計り知れない、オリジナル・マスターカセット。
【DISC 1（ショウ前半）：最高峰サウンドRECORDER 2を拡張】
以上、５種の録音が存在し、これらを駆使しして制作された「箱根のフル・ライヴアルバム」が本作です。そのポイントは「最高峰クオリティ」。シンプルに言いますとベスト録音は唯一のステレオ録音である「RECORDER 2」であり、それを最大限に活用。欠けていた曲間や「ユージン」中盤の約30秒、「エコーズ」の終盤約５分といったパートを「RECORDER 4・5」で補完しているのです。ここで「５枚組ARCHIVES（Sigma 220）にも似たディスクがなかったっけ？」と思われる方もいらっしゃるでしょう。確かに「５枚組のDISC 3」と同じコンセプトなのですが、本作は「GRAF ZEPPELIN」によって完全に作り直されている。最近“A MOMENTARY LAPSE OF REASON Tour”関係のリマスターが好評を博していますが、「GRAF ZEPPELIN」の本領はヴィンテージ録音のアーカイヴ系。精密なトリートメントによって最高峰を更新しているのです。
実際、本作で楽しめる「RECORDER 2」のクオリティは圧倒的。ごく最近、ラジオ放送で「箱根の原子心母」が放送されて大きな話題となっていますが、それも元を質せば「RECORDER 2」でした。もっとも放送版は歓声のカットやクセのあるマスタリングの加工感もあってサウンド的には今イチでしたが、本作は大元マスターのナチュラル感も瑞々しい最高峰版なのです。
【DISC 2（ショウ後半）：最長RECORDER 5を拡張】
DISC 1は開演から「エコーズ」までのショウ前半で、DISC 2はショウ後半を収録しています。頂点サウンドの「RECORDER 2」には後半がないため、こちらのメインとなっているのは「RECORDER 5」。曲間のカットを最大限「RECORDER 4」で補完し、最長版に仕上げています。
また、このDISC 2は「GRAF ZEPPELIN」によるリマスタリング効果がよりハッキリ感じられる。大元マスターはステレオ・テープにモノラル録音（つまり、左右チャンネルで同じ音）されていたわけですが、劣化具合は左右で差が生まれている。本作は左右チャンネルでもベスト・パートだけを厳選して１本のモノラル・パートを制作しているのです。ここまでは従来と同じ工程ですが、大きく異なるのはサウンドの質そのもの。従来盤では10khz付近の鳴りに歪みがあったのですが、今回はその歪みも大幅に軽減。よりナチュラルで美しい最高峰更新サウンドを実現しているのです。
もはや神話のレベルにある初来日から50年。現在、オフィシャルまで巻き込んで空前の“箱根アフロディーテ”ブームが起きています。「真なる初日」や「映像篇」など、さまざまな視点で衝撃の作品が連発しておりますが、本作はその中にあって「最高峰クオリティにこだわり抜いたフル・ライヴアルバム」というわけです。

★作品の意義
●前回版 Sigma 220 (5CD)では､存在する主要音源を5枚のCDにほぼ(Rec3は省く)網羅編集したものでしたが､本盤は､71年8月7日のライブを構成するのに最小限必要な2CDで全曲収録｡かつ内容はベスト音源の良いトコ取り編集｡
5種類も音源が存在するにもかかわらず､それらがバラバラに発掘され､その都度それに応じたリリースがなされてきた経緯もあり､現状のベスト音源をもとにした最小限2CD構成のベスト編集タイトルが､意外にも今まで出ていませんでした｡

The main press 2CD is a full live album where you can enjoy the myth of Japanese Western music “Hakone Aphrodite” with the highest quality in history. As mentioned in the commentary, the archive that transcends official / informal barriers is now in full bloom to commemorate the 50th anniversary. One of the hottest topics right now is a special program by a certain radio station. The sound board recording recorded at Hakone Aphrodite was broadcast. The content is so shocking that it is a very limited and special bonus decision.
The shocking sound board was recorded in “August 6, 1971: Hakone”. The main press 2CD was the second day, but this is the first day. And the content is a legendary MC by the late Goro Itoi (you can also hear the sound check that the MC is wearing and some performance sounds). As a matter of fact, “Echoes” and “Atom Heart Mother” were also played in the program, but the former is the studio version, and the latter is the audience recording of the second day (the same “RECORDER 2” as the main press 2CD, but the sound. 本編プレス２CDは、日本洋楽史の神話である「箱根アフロディーテ」を史上最高峰クオリティで楽しめるフル・ライヴアルバムです。その解説でも触れましたが、現在は50周年を記念して公式／非公式の壁を超えたアーカイヴが花盛りです。中でも今話題沸騰中なのが、某ラジオ局による特番。なんと箱根アフロディーテで記録されたサウンドボード録音が放送されたのです。あまりにも衝撃的な内容ゆえに、超限定で特別ボーナス化決定です。
その衝撃のサウンドボードが記録されたのは「1971年８月６日：箱根」。本編プレス２CDは２日目でしたが、こちらは初日です。そして、その内容は故糸居五郎氏による伝説的なMC（MCが被っているサウンドチェックや一部の演奏音も聞けます）。実のところ、番組では「エコーズ」や「原子心母」も流されたのですが、前者はスタジオ版、後者は２日目のオーディエンス録音（本編プレス２CDと同じ「RECORDER 2」ですが、音は加工されていました）。サウンドボード録音はMCだけでした（前述のように演奏音のサウンドボードも部分的には存在するようですが、公開はあり得ないようです）。
ともあれ、サウンドボードの存在だけでなく伝説MCを脳みそ直結サウンドで聴ける事実自体がド級の衝撃。現場では延々とチューニングを続けるPINK FLOYDに対し、糸居氏が何度も登場してはMCで場を繋いでいた模様。今回の番組では、そのMCを編集で繋げて放送していました。あまりにも重要ですので、文字に起こしておきましょう。
