A phantom recording that was only distributed among core collectors and was rumored to exist emerged urgently. A special gift release has been decided.
It was “April 20, 1975 Tempe performance” that was imbued with such a work. This is a vintage audience recording recorded in the first act of “WISH YOU WERE HERE Tour”. Before the content that interests me, first of all, the position of the show. It’s also a good opportunity, so let’s unravel from the schedule at that time.

This is the 1975 PINK FLOYD. He made two laps in North America in April and June, and the highlight of April was five consecutive performances in LA. The Tempe performance of this work was the 7th performance of “North America # 1” just before that.
Although the record of this show was on the list of core traders, it has not been distributed as an actual sound for many years. It was a phantom sound source that even speculated that “Is it a date recording error?” However, the illusion finally emerged. A recent collector happened to find a DAT in his collection that he was trading, digitized it and made it public.
The sound is a powerful and powerful vintage recording. As expected, it is not the type that competes for the title of the tour masterpiece because it has been a phantom for many years, but it is not the type that searches for unreliable performance sounds from the noise. The core with density and rushing power approaches with a squeak, and mercilessly breaks through the hall noise. When the performance gets hot, it can be cracked, but even the feel is natural and does not pierce unlike Loudness War, which failed to master.
If you compare this nuance (although the band is different), is KING CRIMSON’s “EARTHBOUND” close? Of course, this work is a step rougher, but it’s wild, but it’s not hard to hear, and it’s a sound that overflows with “rock power because it’s rough”.

The night in Toronto in 1975, which I had never known before. It is the excavation of a phantom sound source that conveys the whole picture. It’s not the type that is touted as a masterpiece of the century, but there is no doubt that you can fully enjoy powerful performances that do not end with simply filling one page of history. This live album is recommended not only to collectors who are obsessed with the joy of the first experience show, but also to those who want to experience the charm of “lo-fi floyd”. これが1975年のPINK FLOYD。４月と６月に北米を２周しており、４月のハイライトはLAでの５連続公演。本作のテンピ公演は、その直前となる「北米#1」の７公演目にあたるコンサートでした。
このショウの記録はコア・トレーダーのリストにはあったものの、長年、実際の音としては流通してこなかった。一部で「日付の記録ミスか？」との憶測も飛んだほどの幻音源でした。ところが、その幻が遂に浮上した。最近になってあるコレクターが自分のコレクションの中に偶然トレードしていたDATを見つけ、それをデジタル化して公開したのです。
そのサウンドは、何とも力強くパワフルなヴィンテージ録音。さすがに長年に渡って幻だっただけにツアー代表作の座を競うようなタイプではないのですが、かと言ってノイズの中から頼りない演奏音を探すタイプでもない。密度と突進力のある芯がグイグイと迫り、ホール鳴りを容赦なく突き破る。演奏が熱を帯びると割れ気味になることもあるものの、その感触でさえナチュラルでマスタリングに失敗したラウドネス・ウォーとは違って突き刺さってこない。
このニュアンスを喩えるなら（バンドは違いますが）KING CRIMSONの『EARTHBOUND』が近いでしょうか。もちろん、本作の方がさらに一歩粗めではありますが、ワイルドだけど聞き苦しくはなく、「荒いからこそのロックなパワー」が瑞々しく溢れ出すサウンドなのです。

これまで知る由もなかった1975年のトロントの夜。その全貌を伝えてくれる幻音源の発掘です。世紀の大名盤と喧伝するタイプではありませんが、単に歴史の１ページを埋めるだけでは済まない力強い演奏がたっぷりと楽しめるのも間違いない。初体験ショウの喜びに取り憑かれたコレクター諸兄はもちろん、「ローファイなフロイド」の魅力を体験されたい方にも全力でお薦めしたいライヴアルバム。どうぞ、じっくりとご堪能ください。
