PINK FLOYD has been booming for the 50th anniversary of Hakone Aphrodite, both official and informal. An upgrade master who can enjoy such “1971” even deeper is newly discovered. Introducing the permanent storage press 2CD.

Above, all 41 performances. Aside from the 1988 “depression tour” that accounts for the majority, I visited Japan twice in the 1970s, but only two performances in 1971 in Oceania. There was also a Europe / North America tour in 1971, but there was more than a month before and after “Japan + Australia”. In other words, “Australia” has always been a set with Japanese performances. The Melbourne performance of this work is the first day of such “Australia # 1”. This is the first stage that PINK FLOYD has crossed the equator.

[New excavation master that updates the highest peak sound] As you may know if you have noticed this article, this show has been known for a long time not only because it is historical but also because it has a great recording, and even in our shop, the gift board “PLANETS MEETING DOWN UNDER” ] Etc. have been well received. This work is an upgraded version of the traditional recording. It is not an improvement by processing such as remastering, but it is a new master that has been discovered recently and the world enthusiasts are prominently saying “best update!”.
In fact, this work is undoubtedly the highest ever. Since the recording itself is the same as before, it is the same that “mystery” is cut out in less than 6 minutes, but the sound that goes through the whole story is completely different. The master this time is a transfer by the familiar neonknight, the 2nd gene copied from “karmamania’s 1st gene”. The outline is sharper and the sound is better than the conventional version, and the dynamism is also improved. There may be some people who think “that? 2nd Jane?” Yes, the best master of the Melbourne performance so far has been digitized directly from “karmamania’s 1st Gene”. Our “PLANETS MEETING DOWN UNDER” was also the 1st Gene. On the other hand, this work should drop by one generation, but the actual sound is better in this work. As you can guess from this, the reason why hiss is not increasing even though the gene is high is probably because metal cassettes were used. If you are familiar with vintage recording, you may have some experience, but the power of sound preservation is not determined by Gene alone. Many elements such as the dubbing route, the tape used, the storage condition, and the transfer environment are folded to convey the sound. Of course, in the majority of cases Gene has a big influence, with the exception of this Melbourne recording. And because of the exception, enthusiasts from all over the world are surprised by the sound that has flowed out.
Anyway, the historic show that renewed the highest peak is really wonderful. Perhaps because it was the first day of the country for the first time, the ensemble was a little hard and Rick made a mistake in “Atom Heart Mother” and “Echoes”. However, that’s why the flashiness that recovers mistakes is also brought out, and “Eugene, watch out for the ax” that changes vividly from static to dynamic is really wonderful.
And above all, “Green is the Color” makes this show special. It is being performed in Melbourne following Japan, but this day was the last time this song was confirmed. You can enjoy the historic last performance with the highest renewal quality.
The myth of Hakone that has fascinated people beyond the space-time of half a century. However, there was a “continuation” in that miracle. 【初来日の直後に実現した初めての南半球ショウ】
そんな本作に吹き込まれているのは、伝説の初来日が実現した直後。「1971年８月13日メルボルン公演」のオーディエンス録音です。現在の音楽業界では日本とオセアニアはセットで考えるのが常識化していますが、その常識が成立する前の1971年でも地球の地理は同じ。PINK FLOYDは初来日を計画すると同時に、オーストラリア大陸へも初上陸も実行したのです。しかも、この時がロジャー・ウォーターズ在籍時代で唯一の南半球公演でもありました。その辺の事情をイメージするため、ここでPINK FLOYDによる「日本＆オセアニア」公演を整理してみましょう。

以上、全41公演。大半を占める1988年の“鬱ツアー”はさておくとして、日本には70年代に二度訪れましたが、オセアニアには1971年の２公演だけ。1971年には欧州／北米ツアーもあったわけですが、「日本＋豪州」の前後には１ヶ月以上の間が空いていた。つまり「豪州」は常に日本公演とセットの存在だったわけです。本作のメルボルン公演は、そんな「豪州#1」の初日。PINK FLOYDが初めて赤道を超えて行ったステージなのです。

【最高峰サウンドを更新する新発掘マスター】
本稿に目を留められた方ならご存知かも知れませんが、このショウは歴史的なだけでなく、名録音が残された事で以前から知られており、当店でもギフト盤『PLANETS MEETING DOWN UNDER』などが好評を賜ってきました。本作はその伝統録音のアップグレード盤。それもリマスター等の加工による向上ではなく、最近になって発掘され、世界のマニアが「ベスト更新！」と色めき立っている新マスターなのです。
実際、本作は紛れもなく過去最高。録音自体は従来と同一なので「神秘」が６分弱でカットアウトしてしまうのも同じですが、全編を貫くサウンドはまったく違う。今回のマスターはお馴染みneonknightによるトランスファーで、「karmamaniaの1stジェネ」からコピーされた2ndジェネ。従来盤よりも輪郭がグッと鮮やかで音抜けも良くなり、ダイナミズムも向上している。もともと力強い芯にグイグイと前に出る突進力が宿り、録音ポジションが十数メートル前になったような感覚なのです。
ここで「あれ？　2ndジャネ？」と思われる方もいらっしゃるかも知れません。そう、これまでメルボルン公演のベスト・マスターは「karmamaniaの1stジェネ」から直接デジタル化されたもの。当店の『PLANETS MEETING DOWN UNDER』も1stジェネでした。それに対して、本作は１世代落ちるはずなのですが、実際の音は本作の方が優れているのです。ここからは推察なのですが、ジェネが高いのにヒスが増えていないのは、恐らくメタル・カセットが使用されていたからかも知れません。ヴィンテージ録音に精通している方なら経験があると思いますが、サウンドの保存力はジェネだけでは決定しない。ダビングの経路や使用されたテープ、保存状態、トランスファー環境など数々の要素が折り重なってサウンドを伝えている。もちろん、大多数の場合はジェネが大きく左右しますが、このメルボルン録音に関しては例外。そして、例外だからこそ世界中のマニアも流れ出てきたサウンドに驚いているのです。
ともあれ、最高峰を更新した歴史的ショウは実に素晴らしい。初めての国の初日ということもあってか、アンサンブルはやや硬く「原子心母」「エコーズ」ではリックがミスするなど万全とは言えない。しかし、だからこそミスをリカバーするような派手さも引き出され、静から動に鮮やかに変わる「ユージン、斧に気をつけろ」も実に素晴らしいのです。
そして何より、このショウをスペシャルにしているのが「グリーン・イズ・ザ・カラー」。日本に続いてメルボルンでも演奏されているわけですが、この曲が確認されたのはこの日が最後。その歴史的なラスト・パフォーマンスを最高峰更新クオリティで味わえるのです。
