With the release of “HEATHEN CHEMISTRY” in 2002, Oasis was even more focused on promoting the album. As a result, the aggressive attitude of being aggressively exposed to both TV and radio and having a large number of tours was a very impressive time. When the album was released on June 26th, many of the live performances were broadcast on the radio, and it was also a very blessed time in terms of sound source. Besides, he is enthusiastically performing live, and coupled with the reaction of the audience who was very enthusiastic about them, the climax of mass production of famous performances.
The most important sound source at this time was the last day of Finsbury Park, but after July, some gigs have been broadcast on the radio. In such a privileged situation, what is surprisingly overlooked is the Witness Festival held in Ireland on the 14th. Therefore, this time we will release the stereo sound board sound source that was overlooked on the 2002 tour at the same time as Yoyogi.
The day before, T. in the Park Festival, etc. was released on the press CD at that time (in combination with other performances) even though the broadcast was about 45 minutes, but at the Witness Festival It was a sad broadcast that no decent item was released even though the sound quality was better and the broadcast time was longer than that.

It is true that there was a drawback that only “Hello” was cut during broadcasting, but the recording time is still much longer than T. in the Park. Nevertheless, “WITN NESS –THE CHEMSITRY” released on the press CD at that time was an unclear edit that three songs were cut from the broadcast and instead the excerpt from the Dublin performance at the end of June was recorded. In July 2002, which can be called an invincible period among the live sound sources of the “HEATHEN CHEMISTRY” period, it was treated incredibly unfavorably in the stereo sound board recording of the radio broadcast realized in that period. This is the Witness Festival. The trouble is that there was no sign of new items coming out, as opposed to Finsbury Park being reprinted as a 2002 masterpiece and becoming popular with new items being created. It may be said that it is a sound source hidden behind the scenes.

After that, the Witness Festival was not re-evaluated and time passed, but rather it was completely overlooked by anyone other than enthusiasts. The impression of the broadcast fades so much that it seems. In 2021, nearly 20 years after this broadcast, the enthusiast finally lifted his weight.
As mentioned earlier, the flow of “Hello” from the opening BGM “Fuckin’In The Bushes” was cut off in this broadcast. So the enthusiast patched this part from the audience recording on the same day and uploaded the full version of the Witness Festival, which was unlikely until now. The most used audience recording is the sound quality that is typical of outdoor recordings in 2002 Oasis, and the quality is fair. However, the “Hello” heard here is interesting. 2002年に「HEATHEN CHEMISTRY」をリリースした際、オアシスはアルバムのプロモーションに対してそれまで以上に力を入れていました。その結果としてテレビ、ラジオ両方への露出も積極的でツアーの本数も多めという攻めの姿勢が極めて印象的な時期となりました。アルバムが6月26日にリリースされるとライブの多くがラジオで放送され、音源的にも非常に恵まれた時期でもある。それに何と言っても意気揚々とライブをこなしており、そんな彼らに対して大いに熱狂したオーディエンスの反応と相まって、名演が量産された文句なしの絶頂期。
この時期の最重要音源と言えばフィンズベリー・パークの最終日でしょうが、7月はその後もいくつかのギグがラジオで放送されています。そうした恵まれた状況の中において、意外なほど見過ごされているのが14日のアイルランドで行われたウィットネス・フェスティバルではないでしょうか。そこで今回は2002年ツアーで見過ごされたステレオ・サウンドボード音源を代々木と同時にリリースいたします。
前日のT・イン・ザ・パーク・フェスなどは放送が45分程度だったにもかかわらず当時プレスCDにて（他の公演との抱き合わせで）リリースされたのに対し、ウィットネス・フェスティバルの方はそれより音質が良く放送時間も長かったにもかかわらず、まともなアイテムがリリースされなかったという悲運の放送でした。

放送に際して「Hello」だけがカットされたという欠点があったのは事実ですが、それでもなおT・イン・ザ・パークよりはるかに収録時間が長い。にもかかわらず当時プレスCDでリリースされた「WITNNESS – THE CHEMSITRY」は放送から三曲がカットされ、代わりに6月末のダブリン公演の放送からの抜粋が収録されるという意味不明な編集。その点「WITNNESS FESTIVAL 2002」は放送を完全に収録していたものの、今度はCD-Rでのリリースという落ちが付いたのです。
「HEATHEN CHEMISTRY」期のライブ音源の中でも無敵の時期と呼べる2002年7月、その中で実現していたラジオ放送のステレオ・サウンドボード録音の中では信じられないほどに不遇の扱いを受けていたのが今回のウィットネス・フェスティバル。困ったことに新たなアイテムが登場する気配もなく、フィンズベリー・パークが2002年の最高傑作として重版されたり新たなアイテムが生み出されたりして普及していったのとは対照的に、それの陰に隠れてしまった音源だと言えるかもしれません。

その後もウィットネス・フェスティバルが再評価されるようなことはなく時は流れ、むしろマニア以外には完全に見過ごされてしまったのではないか？と思えるほど同放送の印象が薄れてしまいます。この放送から20年近い歳月を経た2021年、ようやくマニアが重い腰を上げてくれました。
先に触れたように、この放送ではオープニングのBGM「Fuckin’ In The Bushes」からの「Hello」という流れがカットされてしまいました。そこでマニアが同日のオーディエンス録音からこの部分をパッチして、今までありそうでなかったウィットネス・フェスティバルの完全版をアップロードしてくれたのです。しかもその作業を行ったのは今回同時リリースとなる代々木最終日のサウンドボードとオーディエンスのマトリクス・バージョンを作ってくれたのと同一人物。
もっとも使われたオーディエンス録音は2002年オアシスの野外録音にありがちな音質で、クオリティ的にはまずまずといったところか。しかしここで聞かれる「Hello」が面白い。フィンズベリー・パークを始めとしたこの時期の演奏と比べると妙にレイドバックした演奏で、そのせいで放送からカットされてしまったという推測が出来そうなほど、ちょっと異色な演奏が印象的なのです。

その後の放送本体はマニアには定評の高いもので、2002年ツアー最強の時期だけのことはあり、勢いに溢れた演奏が素晴らしい。この時期のラジオ放送は正規のライブアルバムと違って大なり小なり荒々しい仕上がりであったことも魅力なのですが、例えばフィンズベリー・パークが会場の盛り上がりも大きく盛り込んだミックスであり、曲によってはリアムやノエルのボーカルが演奏に押されているようなバランスの個所もありました。ところがウィットネス・フェスティバルの放送では彼らのボーカルが前面に押し出されているというのも大きな魅力。
それにフィンズベリー・パークという大一番をやり遂げた後だからでしょうか、ノエルが歌うアンコール「Force Of Nature」が始まった際、まだ出番でないはずのリアムが出てきてイントロの最中に観客に向けて語りかけるわ、そのノエルも「Don’t Look Back In Anger」のエンディングで語りかけた挙句に吹き出すといった、いい意味での余裕が感じられるのも楽しい。7月に入ってからの意気揚々とした雰囲気の中で全開唱法を続けたせいでリアムがライブ終盤になるとさすがに苦しそうな場面も見受けられますが、それでも勢いで乗り切ってしまうところがこの時期ならでは。
やはりこの日も7月ならではの覇気と勢いに溢れた演奏は格別であり、あっという間に駆け抜けるような演奏ぶりが圧巻。それでいて音質もステレオ・サウンドボードで抜群。こんな優良音源が長い間見過ごされていたとは驚きでしかありません。でも、そんな不遇の扱いも今週まで。この忘れ去れていた2002年の名音源を初の全長版にて心ゆくまでお楽しみください。

The first delivery of “WITNESS FESTIVAL 2002 COMPLETE” will come with a CD-R “FINSBURY PARK FIRST NIGHT” containing the first day of the biggest performance in July, Finsbury Park. Speaking of Finnsbury Park, it’s a time when it’s so famous that you can think of it as a famous performance of 2002 Oasis. The 2002 Finsbury Park was held for three days, but the most famous one is probably the last day of the radio broadcast.
Audience recordings exist for the remaining two days, but CD-Rs were released for each of them in 2002, and for the first day, the nostalgic MASTERPORT label was released as “FINS BURY PARK FIRST NIGHT”. What I was doing. This time, it will be a reprint of it.
Because it was a gig in a vast outdoor open space, the sound quality of both of the two days’ sound sources was like a typical outdoor audience recording, but in terms of ease of listening, the first day was clearly better. In particular, the sound image of Liam’s singing voice is on-balanced, yet the secret of ease of hearing is that there is little phenomenon that the sound output from the venue, which is common in outdoor recording, is blown by the wind. Also, the fact that the large chorus, which was customary in the oasis gig, is captured in a balance deeper than the performance, has spurred the ease of hearing, and there is only a place where the chorus is barely jarring around “Moring Glory”. I wonder if it’s a balance that is being pushed to the right.
Rather, compared to the angry excitement captured by the radio broadcast on the final day, it seemed like a peaceful presence.

And after all, Finsbury Park, which was a big game for Oasis in 2002, the performance content can not be bad on the first day. Liam’s tension is a spectacular level. The voice was already coming out, and I was thrilled to hear him attacking. The performance was so wonderful on the final day, but you will realize that it was a wonderful performance on this day as well.
On the final day, there was a terrible chorus in “She’s Electric” sung by Noel, but it wasn’t so much on that day (bitter smile), and after all the chorus was heated by “Don’t Look Back In Anger”. .. It is also attractive that it captures the sense of presence in a balanced manner without sarcasm. And the finale “My Generation” begins with Noel saying that he will dedicate it to John Entwistle who died suddenly, and after the end, Liam shouts “Cammon!”, And the high tension like Finsbury Park shines until the end. The first day of Finsbury Park, which is surprisingly easy to hear and surprisingly difficult to obtain.

「WITNESS FESTIVAL 2002 COMPLETE」の初回納品分には7月最大の名演フィンズベリー・パークの初日を収めたCD-R「FINSBURY PARK FIRST NIGHT」が付属します。フィンズベリー・パークと言えば、それだけで2002年オアシスの名演だと思い浮かぶほど有名な時期。都合三日間行われた2002年のフィンズベリー・パークですが、もっとも有名なのはラジオ放送が行われた最終日でしょう。
残りの二日間に関してはオーディエンス録音が存在していますが、それらも2002年当時にCD-Rがそれぞれリリースされており、初日に関しては懐かしのMASTERPORTレーベルがその名も「FINSBURY PARK FIRST NIGHT」としてリリースしていたもの。今回付属するのは、その復刻版ということになります。
広大な野外広場でのギグですので、二日間の音源はどちらも典型的な野外オーディエンス録音といった感じの音質なのですが、聞きやすさという点では初日の方が明らかに上。特にリアムの歌声の音像はオンなバランスであり、それでいて野外での録音にありがちな会場からの出音が風に流されるといった現象が少ないのも聞きやすさの秘密。またオアシスのギグでは恒例だった大合唱が演奏より奥のバランスで捉えられているというのも聞きやすさに拍車をかけており、辛うじて合唱が耳障りな個所が「Moring Glory」辺りしかなく、それとて右側に追いやられているといったバランスなのも幸いかと。
むしろ最終日のラジオ放送が捉えていた怒涛のような盛り上がりと比べ、何とものどかな臨場感に映るほど。

そして何と言っても2002年のオアシスにとって大勝負だったフィンズベリー・パーク、その初日となれば演奏内容は悪いはずがない。リアムのテンションの高さは壮絶なレベル。もう声が出まくっていて、彼が攻めまくる姿は聞いていてゾクゾクするほど。最終日もあれほどまで素晴らしい演奏内容だった訳ですが、この日もまた素晴らしい演奏ぶりであったことが実感してもらえるでしょう。
最終日はノエルが歌う「She’s Electric」でも凄まじい合唱が起きていましたが、この日はそれほどでもなく（苦笑）、やっぱり「Don’t Look Back In Anger」の方で合唱が白熱する。その臨場感を嫌味のないバランスで捉えていくれているのも魅力的。そしてフィナーレの「My Generation」はノエルが急逝したジョン・エントウィッスルに捧げると述べてから始まり、終了後にはリアムが「カモン！」と叫ぶなど、最後までフィンズベリー・パークらしいハイテンションさが輝きを放つ。意外なほど聞きやすく、なおかつ意外と入手し辛くなっているフィンズベリー・パーク初日。
