This is the whole performance which was carried out to date. NICK MASON ‘SA SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS started in May 2018, and the schedule of spring 2019 was also announced. Most of them are showers of the UK in their home countries, but only 15 shows from September 2 to 21 are overseas. This work corresponds to its 14th performance.
Such quality of this work is a splendid name recording safe also for the first time people. I can not say “Only No. 1!” For tours that have massively drained the masterpiece, but it is not funny even if it is the other band if it is No. 1. Although it is a realistic audience recording, the powerful performance is full of response, plenty of performance at the venue acoustics can not make the details muddy. 初期FLOYDを現代に甦らせたニック・メイスンでしたが、その評判は本人の予想を遙かに超えるもの。2018年の春先に行われたデビューギグは300人ほどの小さなショウでしたが、好評が噂を呼んでヨーロッパ全土を巡るツアーに発展。当店では、その模様を数々の傑作ライヴアルバムでレポートしてきました。本作もその１つ。「2018年９月20ミラノ公演」の傑作オーディエンス録音なのです。
傑作でありながら通常リリースではなくギフトとなったのには、もちろん理由があります。それは多産であること。実のところ、あまりに素晴らしいショウはヨーロッパ中の録音家から注目され、殆どのショウから極上録音が搭乗している。しかし、その一方で「後期のヒット曲ヌキ」という活動コンセプトからマニア人気の域を超えていないのです。そこで登場したのが本作。通常リリース可能な名録音でありながら、誰でも気楽に手にできるギフトで、素晴らしきNICK MASON’S SAUCERFUL OF SECRETSの世界を１人でも多くの方に知っていただきたいのです。

これが現在までに実施された全公演。NICK MASON’S SAUCERFUL OF SECRETSは2018年５月に始動し、2019年春の日程も発表されました。そのほとんどは母国イギリスのショウなのですが、９月２日-21日の15公演だけは海外。本作は、その14公演目にあたるのです。
そんな本作のクオリティは、初めての方にも安心な見事な名録音。傑作を大量に排出してきたツアーだけに「これぞNo.1！」とは申せませんが、他のバンドであればNo.1になってもおかしくないレベル。リアルなオーディエンス録音ではありますが、力強い演奏が手応えたっぷりに轟き、会場音響も演奏を艶やかに演出はしてもディテールを濁らせない。そのド真ん中をレーザー光線のようにクッキリした芯が貫き、手元に飛び込んでくるのです。
そして、この音響が美味しい。現在はサウンドボードっぽい録音に人気が集まりがちですが、本作の主役は初期FLOYDナンバー。曲や演奏に次いで“空間”も重要な要素であり、効果音が飛んでくる方向感覚や音響の中に立つ実感も音楽の一部。本作は、そんな要素まで総合した臨場感に優れているのです。こう書くと音が回り込むような録音をイメージされるかも知れませんが、そうではありません。ボケボケ・ボワボワでは立体感など望むべくもない。芯もディテールも真っ直ぐに届くからこその空間感覚であり、“音の世界”が広がる。実のところ、ネット公開された原音は空間が広すぎもしたのですが、本作では細心マスタリングで音響を整理。芯が１本通った絶品サウンドに仕上げました。
実際、本作はニックのMCまでもが克明。今回のツアーでは「みんな知っているかい？　私たちはオーストラリアのロジャーズ・ウォーターズでも、デンマークのデイビッド・ギルモアでもない。NICK MASON’S SAUCERFUL OF SECRETSさ！」がお決まりの名句として各会場を沸かせているのですが、このミラノ公演ではそこに「ペルーのピンクフロイドでもない（We are not the Peruvian Pink Floyd）」が加わっている。その一言一言までハッキリと聴き取れるサウンドなのです。

ツアーを重ね、５人の歯車がガッチリと噛み合ってきたSAUCERFUL OF SECRETS。一層自然で豊かになったグルーヴからも明らかです。その見事な初期FLOYDナンバーの数々を素晴らしいサウンドで実体験できる傑作ライヴアルバム。これまでのライヴ・レポートを追ってこられた方にも、本作で初めて触れる方にも、最高のひとときをくれる１本。どうぞ、じっくりとお楽しみください。
