MOTORHEAD in 1999 entered the second golden age by hitting “EVERYTHING LOUDER THAN EVERYONE ELSE”, which was said to be “a super-masterpiece since NO SLEEP’TIL HAMMERSMITH”. Introducing a new excavation live album where you can experience the powerful live 100%.
It was “November 16, 1999 Gothenburg performance” that was imbued with such a work. It is the best audience recording. At that time, it was after the release of the rare masterpiece “EVERYTHING LOUDER THAN EVERYONE ELSE”, but in terms of studio work, it is also in the “SNAKE BITE LOVE” era. Here, let’s check the position of the show with a schedule that mixes both works.

This is the 1998/1999 MOTORHEAD. Roughly speaking, 1998 = “SNAKE BITE LOVE Tour”, 1999 = “EVERYTHING LOUDER Tour”, but the Gothenburg performance of this work is the final stage of a series of projects. It was the 6th performance of “Europe # 5”.
Such a work is a superb audience that is both powerful and neat. It’s a little different from the soundboard-like zero-distance feeling, but the sound is clear and detailed. Especially beautiful is the drums. The high-pitched sound of the cymbal is metallic luster terra terra, but it has no sharpness at all, and the deep bass of the bass drum is powerful enough to kick up the five viscera and shake the six swords, but it does not vibrate at all even at the peak of the hitting sound. The sound of the hall gives the core thickness and dynamism, but does not hide the details.
And it is the master freshness that makes the umami of such a recording even more brilliant. Although it is a taper work called “Barrhult”, it is digitized directly from the original cassette, and there are no dubbing marks or deterioration over time. From the rise of each sound to the end of the disappearing end, it is drawn beautifully without any distortion.
What is spelled out in such “Audience-only beauty sound” is a full show that further concentrates the potential of the super masterpiece live album. The above “Europe # 5” is basically a festival-style tour “MONSTERS OF THE MILLENIUM” by 4 groups MANOWAR, MOTORHEAD, DIO, LION’S SHARE (not all). Therefore, although the set is a little short, it still bites about 75 minutes and 17 songs in quick succession. Here, let’s organize the contents as well.
● Golden trio era (7 songs)
・ Overkill: No Class / Metropolis / Overkill
・ Bomber: Bomber / Dead Men Tell No Tales (★)
・ Ace Of Spades: Ace Of Spades
-Iron Fist: Iron Fist
● After that (9 songs)
・ No Remorse: Killed By Death
・ Orgasmatron: Orgasmatron
・ 1916: I’m So Bad (Baby I Don’t Care) / Going To Brazil
・ Busters: Born To Raise Hell
・ Sacrifice: Over Your Shoulder / Sacrifice
・ Over-Nite Sensation: Civil War
・ Snake Byte Love: Take The Blame
* Note: The “★” mark is a song that could not be heard on the super-famous board “EVERYTHING LOUDER THAN EVERYONE ELSE”.
…… And it looks like this. A style in which “EVERYTHING LOUDER THAN EVERYONE ELSE”, which was 25 songs in total, was concentrated tightly, and the rare song “Dead Men Tell No Tales”, which was revived for the first time in 18 years, was inserted into it. However, even if the selection is close, the song order is quite different, and the kick-off with “Bomber” is quite fresh.
Even so, MOTORHEAD at the end of the 90’s is a bit different. The final trio of “Remy / Phil Campbell / Mikkey Dee” was immovable for 20 years (half of the 40-year history of MOTORHEAD), but 1999 was about 5 years after it was solidified. The ensemble, which combines the fulfillment and familiarity of “This is it!”, Is powerful and unrivaled. “EVERYTHING LOUDER THAN EVERYONE ELSE” was not a product of chance, but a super-masterpiece that was made as much as possible. It is a live album where you can experience the “second golden age” that convinces you so. Please enjoy it to your heart’s content.
★ The best audience recording of “November 16, 1999 Gothenburg performance”. A powerful yet neat item created by the Omoto Master of the much-talked-about “Barrhult” collection. Especially beautiful is the drum, the high-pitched sound of the cymbal is metallic luster terra terra, but there is no sharpness at all, and the deep bass of the bass drum is powerful enough to kick up the five viscera and shake the six swords, but it is completely vivid even at the peak of the hitting sound. Not. It is a famous recording that does not hide the details while the hall sound gives the core thickness and dynamism. The rare song “Dead Men Tell No Tales”, which cannot be heard on the official masterpiece “EVERYTHING LOUDER THAN EVERYONE ELSE”, is also a live album where you can experience the delicious “second golden age” on-site.
