The final trio that occupied half of the 40-year history of MOTORHEAD. Introducing the Pro Shot Collection, where you can witness the climax of the immovable triangle.
Three types of multi-camera pro shots are included in this work. This is a TV broadcast compilation DVD that mainly includes “August 15, 1997 Budapest performance” and “May 24, 1998 Cologne performance” and “June 30, 1998 Budapest performance”. At that time, “OVERNIGHT SENSATION” and “SNAKE BITE LOVE” returned to the trio, and the live album “EVERYTHING LOUDER THAN EVERYONE ELSE”, which is said to be the best masterpiece, was also produced. This is the 1997/1998 MOTORHEAD. The “OVERNIGHT SENSATION Tour” started in the fall of 1996, and the 1997 Budapest performance of this work is the final stage of the tour. It was the third concert of “Europe # 2”.
And the other 2 performances are the 19th and 26th performances of “Europe # 3” after the release of “SNAKE BITE LOVE”. The official live version “EVERYTHING LOUDER THAN EVERYONE ELSE” is also produced in the same “Europe # 3” and can be enjoyed as a video version of that daimyo version.
This work that conveys such a show is a TV professional shot by a hidden treasure master. Although it is a historical VHS recording, its freshness is wonderful. In the first place, the three videos recorded in this work have not been known so far, and they have hardly been distributed among collectors. For that reason, it is a low-gene master with very few dubbing marks, and if it is vivid, the details are clear without bleeding. Although it is not possible to tout the slightly stiff feel as “official grade!”, It is nothing but a treasure to witness the precious stage of the 90’s with such quality.
Yes, the HR / HM system of the 90’s is valuable. If you’re a video collector, you’ll agree, but in the 70’s and 80’s, master excavation and digital rebroadcasting were popular, and various standard professional shots were greatly upgraded. On the contrary, 21st century images are digital from the beginning, so they are beautiful to the modern eye. Currently, the archive is having a difficult time “in the meantime”. It’s a 90’s video. Moreover, the HR / HM system is particularly strict. At that time, Rob Halford was told that “Metal is dead”, the scale of tours in the United Kingdom and the United States has shrunk, and television broadcasting has dropped sharply. South America / Eastern Europe, which is a developing country in the media, flourished, and although there were many, the quality was not enough. It’s such an unfortunate era.
However, in this era, MOTORHEAD had a live performance that could be called the “second golden age.” In the 21st century, the number of live works of the final trio will increase, but the most fat was in the 90’s. At the main 1997 Budapest performance, the extremely rare “Beardless Remy” is also a treasure video collection that can be seen in professional shots. そんな本作に収められているのは、３種のマルチカメラ・プロショット。「1997年８月15日ブダペスト公演」をメインに、「1998年５月24日ケルン公演」と「1998年６月30日ブダペスト公演」を追加収録したTV放送のコンピレーションDVDです。当時はトリオに回帰した『OVERNIGHT SENSATION』『SNAKE BITE LOVE』であり、最高傑作とも言われるライヴアルバム『EVERYTHING LOUDER THAN EVERYONE ELSE』も制作された時代。その辺の事情をイメージするためにも、まずは当時のスケジュールから紐解いてみましょう。

これが1997年／1998年のMOTORHEAD。“OVERNIGHT SENSATION Tour”は1996年の秋から始まっており、本作メインの1997年ブダペスト公演はそのツアー最終盤。「欧州#2」の３公演目に当たるコンサートでした。
そして、他２公演は『SNAKE BITE LOVE』発売後となる「欧州#3」の19公演目・26公演目。公式ライヴ盤『EVERYTHING LOUDER THAN EVERYONE ELSE』も同じ「欧州#3」で制作されており、あの大名盤の映像版としても楽しめるのです。
そんなショウを伝える本作は、秘宝マスターによるTVプロショット。時代柄VHS録画ではあるのですが、その鮮度が素晴らしい。そもそも、本作収録の３映像はこれまで知られておらず、コレクター間でもほとんど流通してこなかった。それだけにダビング痕の極少なロウジェネ・マスターであり、発色も滲みなくビビッドなら細部も鮮明。ちょっとだけゴワ付いた感触を「オフィシャル級！」と喧伝はできないものの、90年代の貴重ステージをこれだけのクオリティで目撃できるのはお宝以外の何物でもありません。
そう、90年代のHR/HM系は貴重なのです。映像コレクターの方なら共感していただけると思いますが、70年代／80年代はマスター発掘やデジタル再放送も盛んで、さまざまな定番プロショットが大幅アップグレードしてきました。逆に、21世紀映像は最初からデジタルなので現代の眼にも美しい。現在、アーカイヴが難航しているのは「その間」。90年代の映像なのです。しかも、特にHR/HM系は厳しい。当時はロブ・ハルフォードをして「メタルは死んだ」と言われた時代であり、英米のツアー規模は縮小し、テレビ放送も激減。盛んだったのはメディア後進国の南米／東欧で、数はあってもクオリティでは及ばない……。そんな不遇の時代なのです。
ところが、この時代にMOTORHEADは「第二の黄金時代」とも言うべきライヴを繰り広げていた。21世紀になると最終トリオのライヴ作も増えますが、一番脂が乗っていたのは90年代。タイトで勢いも強烈ですし、何よりHR/HM暗黒時代にツバを吐く自棄っぱちパワーがとんでもないのです。一部のマニアから「EVERYTHING LOUDERはハマースミスを超えた」とさえ言われていますが、本作は、そんな最終トリオの真価を映像で目撃できるわけです。では、本作ではどんな曲が楽しめるのか。最後に３つの映像をまとめて整理しておきましょう。
