With John 5, the new MOTLEY CRUE embarked on a coupling tour “THE WORLD Tour” with DEF LEPPARD. A superb video that allows you to experience the latest stage is now available.
This work was filmed on February 28, 2023 in Lima (Peru). It is a super superb view audience shot that vacuum packed the whole story. MOTLEY CRUE made a revival for the first time in seven years at last year’s “THE STADIUM Tour”, but after that Mick Mars announced his retirement from the tour due to ankylosing spondylitis. John 5 (former ROB ZOMBIE / DAVID LEE ROTH BAND / MARILYN MANSON and others) was welcomed as a successor. In the sense of knowing such a recent situation, let’s review the steps after the resurrection with the schedule.

This is the 2022/2023 MOTLEY CRUE announced to date. Last year it was only in North America, but this year’s “THE WORLD Tour” will advance to South America and Europe as its name suggests. The Lima performance of this work is the 4th performance of the “South America” leg at the beginning. It was also the first Peruvian performance recorded for them.
This work, in which you can witness such a show, is truly a sample of a superb view. Judging from the opening scene that I drew with all my might, I can’t deny the distance, but from there I zoomed in forever. Before I knew it, each member’s waist-up approached until it filled the screen. There is nothing that makes you realize the progress of science and technology as much as the audience shot, but even so, it is a shock because it is super clear even with such an intense zoom. You can clearly see the tattoo pattern on Vince’s arm and the mesh of the real bondage lady.
You may think, “No matter how beautiful it is, it’s just a distant view, isn’t it?” The factor is zero distance sound. Since the details have not been disclosed, I can not assert, but whether there is a separate recording or there is a PA immediately outside the screen, the sound is very thick and the show is detailed. There is no sense of scavenging, and the audience is about the tone … No, I can’t even feel the tone. The cheering between songs is super realistic, but the essential performance sound really seems like a sound board.
And if the weaknesses of the distant view are resolved with the “super beautiful zoom + zero distance sound”, the taste of the distant view will be fully opened! “After all, the field of view of the shield and the camera work that allows you to see as much as you want.” After all, if you pull back a little, the whole stage comes into view, so you can hold down without missing the highlight. You can follow the members who are involved all over the stage.

… and it looks like this. Basically, it is the Greatest Hits that followed last year’s “THE STADIUM Tour”, and the hot topic new song “The Dirt (Est. 1981)” is also being shown. The difference is the cover medley. THE TUBES “White Punks on Dope”, which was featured last year, has been cut and can be tightened with RAMONES’ “Blitzkrieg Bop”.
Although there are minor changes to the set, the ensemble that runs through the entire piece has undergone major changes. John 5 has been leading the guitar scene since the 2000s with various bands. It has attracted a lot of attention as to how to prepare the successive masterpieces, but the basics are respect for the original and foolish cleverness. Both the solo and the riff are vivid and the sense of stability is outstanding. Come to think of it, John is already in his 50s and not a young man on the market. There is no need to prove his guitar technique or musical sense now, and it seems that he will fulfill the fan’s wishes professionally here.
MOTLEY CRUE even jumped out to say, “I want to tour until the 50th anniversary (2031)” by Nikki Sixx. Eight years ahead is a bit early, but I guess that’s why the current lineup is so satisfying. A video masterpiece that allows you to experience such a full show with a special seat with a superb view. For those who can’t wait for the rumored Japan performance, please enjoy the best one.

そんな本作が撮影されたのは「2023年２月28日リマ公演（ペルー）」。その一部始終を真空パックした超絶景オーディエンス・ショットです。MOTLEY CRUEは昨年の“THE STADIUM Tour”で７年ぶりの復活を遂げたわけですが、その後にミック・マーズが強直性脊椎炎のためにツアーからの引退を発表。後任にジョン５（元ROB ZOMBIE／DAVID LEE ROTH BAND／MARILYN MANSON他）が迎えられました。そんな近況を知る意味でも、復活後の歩みをスケジュールでおさらいしておきましょう。

これが現在までに公表されている2022年／2023年のMOTLEY CRUE。昨年は北米のみでしたが、今年の“THE WORLD Tour”はその名の通り南米やヨーロッパにも進出。本作のリマ公演は、その冒頭「南米」レッグの４公演目。彼らに録って初のペルー公演でもありました。
そんなショウを目撃できる本作は、まさに絶景の見本。思いっきり引いた開演シーンからすると結構距離も否めないのですが、そこからぐーーーーっといつまでもズーム。気がつくとメンバー１人ひとりのウェストアップが画面いっぱいになるまで寄っていく。オーディエンス・ショットほど科学技術の進歩を実感できるものはありませんが、それにしてもこれほど強烈なズームでも超鮮明なのだから衝撃。ヴィンスの腕のタトゥー柄も本物のボンデージ・レディの網目もはっきりくっきり観られるのです。
「いくら綺麗でも所詮は遠景だろ？」と思われるかも知れませんが、本作に限っては距離を忘れる。その要因はゼロ距離なサウンド。詳細が明かされていないので断言しかねますが、別録音を重ねているのか、それとも画面外のすぐ側にPAがあるのか、とにかくサウンドが極太でショウ詳細。スカスカ感もまるでありませんし、オーディエンスっぽさは音色くらい……いや、音色にも感じられない。曲間の声援は超リアルですが、肝心要の演奏音は本当にサウンドボードのように思えて仕方がありません。
そして「超美麗ズーム＋ゼロ距離サウンド」で遠景の弱みが解消されたとなれば、あとは遠景の旨みが全開！　何と言っても遮蔽物セロの視界と、見たいところを見放題なカメラワーク。何しろちょっと引けばステージが丸ごと視界に入るのですから、見どころを逃さず押さえまくれる。ステージのあちこちで絡むメンバー達をしっかり追えるのです。
そんな超絶景＆極太サウンドで画かれるのは、全世界の固唾を飲んで見つめている新生MOTLEY CRUEのフルショウ。ここでそのセットからチェックしておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。基本的には昨年の“THE STADIUM Tour”を踏襲したグレイテスト・ヒッツで、話題となった新曲の「The Dirt (Est. 1981)」も披露されています。違いと言えば、カバーメドレー。昨年取り上げていたTHE TUBES「White Punks on Dope」が削られ、RAMONESの「Blitzkrieg Bop」で締められるようになりました。
セット・マイナーチェンジですが、全編を貫くアンサンブルは大きく変化。様々なバンドで2000年代以降のギターシーンをリードしてきたジョン５。歴代の名曲群をどう料理するか注目されましたが、基本はオリジナル尊重かつバカ巧。ソロもリフも鮮やかで安定感もバツグン。思えばジョンもすでに50代で、売り出し中の若手ではない。ギターテクや音楽的センスを今さら証明するまでもありませんし、ここではプロフェッショナルにファン望みを叶えてくれるようです。
ニッキー・シックスによる「50周年（2031年）までツアーしたい」発言まで飛び出したMOTLEY CRUE。８年先とはずいぶんと気が早いですが、それほど今のラインナップに手応えを感じているのでしょう。そんなフルショウを超絶景の特等席体験できる映像傑作。噂される日本公演が待ちきれない方に最高の１枚、どうぞ存分にお楽しみください。
