Mick Jagger Live activities in 1988 tended to attract attention to Japan performances because of the fact that the visit to Japan was realized, and the situation that Japan performances occupy overwhelming items still remains the same.
The next Australian tour had a six-month interval from the Japanese performance, so the composition was greatly reworked, and in particular, the maniacness of the set list was reborn as an interesting composition that surpassed the Japanese performance. It is.
Fortunately, a wonderful TV special called “DEEP DOWN UNDER” was created from this tour, but all the rare repertoires heard on the Australian tour were mixed with the hotel gig set for shooting. It ended up being cut.
More than that, audience recordings of Australian tours are rare, and in the past, audience recordings of rare songs were barely made into CDs on a compilation CD of live sound sources from Mick 88 called “CAN’T YOU HEAR ME ROCKIN’?” to the extent that it was Rather, it may be said that this tour was wrapped in a veil up to the present.
Under such circumstances, the Sydney performance on September 27th was released online. Unfortunately, it was a sound source that had been circulating among traders as an incomplete recording that failed to record the final stage of the live, but this time the master recorded by the Australian taper “Way From Oz” himself will be released for the first time. It became a significant excavation.

The sound quality was a typical cassette Walkman-like quality, and it was released on CD-R because the tape was scattered at the beginning of the live, such as “Ruby Tuesday”, but it was still listened enough. In addition to the quality that can be put in, the contents are too valuable.
“Can’t You Hear Me Knocking”, which matches the sharpness of Mick’s solo band’s tight performance, and “Primitive Cool”, which was added to the repertoire in Australia as the title song of the second solo album, has a good melody that shines live. I’m here.
The solo band’s tight performance is fresh “One Hit”, and the high-tension performance of “Rip This Joint”, which was incorporated into the set list from this day, is really like this band. Unfortunately, the recording ends in the middle of this song, but it is also interesting to see that Simon Phillips’ drum solo was incorporated in this song on this tour.
When you listen to the whole live like this, you will finally realize that it was a different composition from the Japanese performance.

The content is so valuable and the sound quality is analog and easy to hear. If this happens, it may appear as a problem that is insignificant to record for maniacs, such as the lack of live performances at the end of the Stones number. It is a lot of content to hear so much.
In addition, a fragment of “I’m A King Bee”, which was the repertoire of the early Stones from the rehearsal broadcast in July, which also served as the promotion of the Australian tour, and an interview at the time of arrival in Australia (receiving quite seriously recorded). Isn’t this a valuable sound source that maniacs wanted to hear?

ミック・ジャガー1988年のライブ活動は来日が実現したこともあって日本公演に注目が集まりがちで、アイテムに関しても圧倒的に日本公演ものが占めるという状況は現在も変わりません。
次に行われたオーストラリア・ツアーは日本公演から半年のインターバルを開けていたこともあって構成が大幅に練り直され、特にセットリストのマニアックさ加減では日本公演を軽く凌ぐ興味深い構成に生まれ変わっていたのです。
幸いにもこのツアーからは「DEEP DOWN UNDER」という素晴らしいテレビ・スペシャルが作られましたが、撮影用にセッティングされたホテル・ギグとの混成ということからオーストラリア・ツアーで聞かれた珍しいレパートリーがことごとくカットされてしまう結果となってしまいました。
それ以上にオーストラリア・ツアーのオーディエンス録音というのが希少で、その昔「CAN’T YOU HEAR ME ROCKIN’?」というミック88年のライブ音源の寄せ集めCDでレア曲のオーディエンス録音がかろうじてCD化されていた程度。むしろ本ツアーは現在に至るまでベールに包まれていたと言っていいかもしれません。
そうした中9月27日のシドニー公演がネット上で公開されたのです。あいにくとライブ終盤を録り損ねた不完全収録としてトレーダー間に以前から出回っていた音源だったのですが、今回はオーストラリアンテーパー「Way From Oz」自身が録音したマスターが初めて公開されるという大変に意義のある発掘となりました。

音質は典型的なカセット・ウォークマン的なクオリティな上、「Ruby Tuesday」などライブ序盤でテープのヨレが散見されたことからCD-Rでのリリースとなってしまったのですが、それでも十分に聞きこめるクオリティな上、内容があまりにも貴重。
ミックのソロバンドらしいタイトな演奏の切れ味がマッチした「Can’t You Hear Me Knocking」、セカンド・ソロアルバムのタイトル曲ながらオーストラリアにてレパートリーに加えられた「Primitive Cool」はメロディの良さがライブ映えしています。
これまたソロバンドのタイトな演奏が新鮮な「One Hit」、さらにはこの日からセットリストに組み込まれた「Rip This Joint」のハイテンションな演奏も実にこのバンドらしい。残念ながらこの曲の途中で録音が終わってしまうのですが、本ツアーではこの曲でサイモン・フィリップスのドラム・ソロが組み込まれていたことが分かるのも面白い。
こうしてライブ全体を聞いてみると、いよいよ日本公演とは別物な構成であったことを思い知らされるでしょう。

これほど貴重な内容で音質もアナログチックで十分に聞きやすい。こうなるとストーンズ・ナンバー連発だったライブ終盤の欠損などマニアには録るに足らない問題に映ってしまうのでは。それほどまで聞きどころの多い内容なのです。
おまけにオーストラリア・ツアーのプロモーションを兼ねて7月に同地で放送されたリハーサルから初期ストーンズのレパートリーであった「I’m A King Bee」の断片とオーストラリア到着時のインタビュー（かなり真剣に受け答えしています）まで収録。これぞマニアが聞きたかった貴重音源ではないでしょうか。
