… and it looks like this. “HELLFEST 2022” was a short set only for festival appearances, but Japan is a solemn full set. It became a large increase full of “★” marks. UFO enriched vests and hot 80’s MSG “Looking For Love” “Red Sky” are lined up, but the most intense one is “Assault Attack”. Romero in this song is just a hero! In terms of voice quality, he has a husky voice reminiscent of Gary Burden, but his singing ability to sing that difficult song better than Graham Bonnet is a masterpiece. What’s more, it’s not just tracing well, but it’s wonderful to sing in a heroic way with plenty of hard rock. It’s a super powerful vocal that makes Baden get a vascular injection of Yunker and put him in a tiger’s hole for intense training.
However, collectors who have been checking the North American tour just before may think that it is “the same set”, but this time the sound and the band’s condition have exceeded North America. I don’t know if I’ve been re-energized for the popular Japan, but Michael’s guitar is sharp and Romero is showing off a more elaborate tune. The biggest selling point of this work is the fastest release, but it has reached the level of a new masterpiece that boasts to the world both in terms of sound and content.
The MICHAEL SCHENKER FEST, which was literally a festive feast, was also good, but this time the show as a band was the winner. 以上、全３公演。本作はイの一番となる初日。まさに究極の最速リリースなのがご理解頂けるでしょう。しかも、そのサウンドは「早かろう悪かろう」とは真逆だからスゴい。録音家本人から譲られた本作だけのオリジナル録音なのですが、その芯は骨太にして肉厚で、空気感は透き通ってディテールまで鮮明。楽器１つひとつが綺麗にセパレートしており、距離感もまるでない。開演時や曲間の生々しい熱狂がなければ、「いきなりIEMsが来たの？」と勘違いするところでした。
そんな極上ダイレクト・サウンドで画かれるのは、ロニー・ロメロのヒロイック・ヴォイスも大舌戦を巻き起こしている最新MSGのフルショウ。今回は海外フェスのプロショットで予習された方も多いと思いますので、ここでは『HELLFEST 2022（Shades 1552）』と比較しながら整理しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。『HELLFEST 2022』はフェス出演だけにショート・セットでしたが、日本は堂々の単独フルセット。「★」印だらけの大増量となりました。UFOの濃縮ベストや胸アツな80年代MSGの「Looking For Love」「Red Sky」などが並びますが、特に強烈なのは「Assault Attack」でしょう。この曲でのロメロは、まさに英雄！ 声質的にはゲイリー・バーデンを思わせるハスキー・ヴォイスながら、あの難曲をグラハム・ボネット以上に歌いこなす歌唱力は圧巻。しかも、単にお上手になぞっているのではなく、ハードロックの醍醐味たっぷり、ヒロイックに歌い上げているところが素晴らしい。バーデンにユンケルを血管注射して虎の穴にぶっ込んで猛特訓させたような超強力ヴォーカルです。
もっとも、直前の北米ツアーまでチェックされているコレクター諸兄にとっては「おんなじセットじゃん」と思われるかも知れませんが、今回はサウンドもバンドの調子も北米を上回ってきた。人気の高い日本に向けて気合いを入れ直したのかどうかは分かりませんが、マイケルのギターはキレにキレ、ロメロもさらに練り込まれた節回しを披露している。本作最大のウリは最速リリースにあるわけですが、サウンド的にも内容的にも世界に誇る新名盤の域に達しているのです。
文字通りお祭り騒ぎだったMICHAEL SCHENKER FESTも良かったですが、バンドとしてのショウは今回の方に軍配が上がる。と言いますか、ここまで充実した来日公演は何十年ぶりだろう………思わず目線が遠くなってしまうほど素晴らしいライヴアルバム。どうぞ、究極の最速リリースで存分にご堪能ください！
