マイケル・シェンカーの2012年「TEMPLE OF ROCK」ツアーにおいては、地域ごとにシンガーが異なるという趣向が採られました。アメリカでロビン・マッコーリーがマイケルとのコンビを復活させ、日本ではマイケル・ヴォスが参加。さらに秋のアメリカツアー2ndレグでは（ロビンの代役という形ではありましたが）デイヴィッド・ヴァン・ランディングが迎えられ、それぞれ印象的な歌唱を楽しませました。
しかしマイケルが最終的に”次のパートナー”として選んだのは、ヨーロッパでフロントマンを務めたドゥギー・ホワイトでした。さらに同ツアーでは、ベースに元SCORPIONSのフランシス・ブッホルツが加入。ドラムのハーマン・ラレベルと共に’80年代SCORPIONSの黄金期を支えたリズムセクションが蘇ったのです。彼らにキーボードのウェイン・フェンドレイを加えた編成は、アルバムから発展した新たなプロジェクト”TEMPLE OF ROCK”と位置づけられ、2013年秋には新作スタジオ・アルバムのリリースも予定されています。この2012年ヨーロッパツアーは、現在のマイケルにとって重要な位置づけにあると言えるでしょう。
本作ではその特別なツアーより、７公演目に当たるドイツ・アウグスブルク公演を、優良なデジタル・マスターから音盤化。昨年ギフト・リリースされた際にはファンを大いに喜ばせました。同一メンバーによる2013年ライヴの決定的一本「HORIZONS IN WARRINGTON」のボーナスとして、本作はふさわしいアイテムだと断言します。

音の見通しは言うまでもなく、演奏のダイレクト感も秀逸の一言。音の広がりが印象的だった日本公演の音源に対し、より密接で一体感のあるサウンドは海外のクラブギグらしい濃密さを感じるでしょう。2012年ライヴの特徴である「Into The Arena」でのオープニング、勢いのよい「Armed And Ready」はいきなりの聴き所。歴戦のドゥギーは巧みなヴォーカルを随所に披露し、「Cry For The Nations」や「Let Sleeping Dogs Lie」・「On And On」のM.S.G.クラシックもパワフルな歌声で圧倒します。
SCORPIONSナンバーの２曲も聴き逃せない。これまでも「Lovedrive」と「Another Piece Of Meat」は演奏されてきましたが、ブッホルツとラレベルが組んだリズムの”本物感”はモノが違う。マイケルも縦横に鋭いギターを聴かせ、キレ味に富んだソロを披露しています。またブッホルツの参加により、アルバム「LOVEDRIVE」からマイケルが関与した「Coast To Coast」と「Holiday」がライヴの要所で取り上げられているのもポイントでしょう。さらに本ライヴでは「Assault Attack」までも新たにセットインしており、ドゥギーが「TEMPLE OF ROCK」で担当した「Before The Devil Knows You’re Dead」と共にハイライトを構築しています。このライヴ中盤はマイケルのファンにとって絶対に聴き逃せません！
SCORPIONSナンバーの増加や「Assault Attack」のセットインによりUFOナンバーは多少減ったのの、人気の高い「Lights Out」・「Let It Roll」・「Shoot Shoot」は残っており、ノリの良い演奏がライヴを盛り上げています。もちろん「Rock Bottom」はここでも約12分の熱演。スリリングなマイケルのソロは特にキレがあり、日本での演奏と較べても遜色ありません。
ラレベルの参加でセットインした「Rock You Like A Hurricane」に「Blackout」は、ドイツ公演という事もあり場内は大変な興奮ぶり。ドゥギーのヴォーカルにあわせて唱和する観客の様子からは、ドイツにおけるSCORPIONSの存在感を改めて思い知らされます。アンコールの最後はお約束の「Doctor Doctor」。ここも場内は大合唱で、約95分間のライヴをピークの熱気でクロージングします。

本作はマイケル・シェンカーの2012年ライヴを代表する一本。また、新たなプロジェクトが事実上のスタートを切ったツアー音源として、マニアなら手元にコレクションしたい一本でしょう。前回のギフト・リリースで本作をゲットできなかった皆さんも、今回の「HORIZONS IN WARRINGTON」と併せ、充実した彼らのライヴを是非お楽しみください！
