Madonna’s first visit to Japan, which was the peak of the Western music boom and was also a major incident involving the general public beyond music. The symbolic image appears with the highest quality.
Included in this work is a multi-camera pro shot of the “June 22, 1987: Korakuen Stadium” performance. Yes, it is a detailed DVD version of the video work “WHO’S THAT GIRL: LIVE IN JAPAN” that was officially released at that time. This week, the legendary master press masterpiece “OSAKA STADIUM 1987 1ST NIGHT (Zion-233)” will also appear, but of course this work will be a separate performance. First of all, let’s unravel the legendary first visit to Japan schedule and check each other’s positional relationship.

・June 14 “OSAKA STADIUM 1987 1ST NIGHT”
・June 15: Osaka Stadium
× June 20: Korakuen Stadium (cancelled due to rain)
・June 21: Korakuen Stadium
・June 22: Korakuen Stadium ← This work

A total of 4 performances. The new masterpiece “OSAKA STADIUM 1987 1ST NIGHT” was the first day. On the other hand, the Korakuen performance of this work is the last day of the Japan tour. However, since the first visit to Japan was the kickoff place of the “WHO’S THAT GIRL WORLD Tour”, it was also the very early show of the 4th performance in the entire world tour.
This stage was also famous for being broadcast on TV, and it was also a video that symbolized the legendary first visit to Japan itself. Moreover, the complete version that expanded the incomplete broadcast was officialized as “WHO’S THAT GIRL: LIVE IN JAPAN”. Furthermore, it became a re-edited work “CIAO ITALIA: LIVE FROM ITALY” mixed with the Italian performance, and it was known worldwide as a video work representing “WHO’S THAT GIRL WORLD Tour”.
In this way, various versions have been left, but this work is “the purest, most complete, and highest quality” among them. “WHO’S THAT GIRL: LIVE IN JAPAN” has been made into a DVD from the Japanese edition laser disc. The quality is exactly the highest peak. Although the standard itself for laser discs is higher resolution than VHS, it physically does not cause uneven playback or magnetic transfer, and is resistant to aging. Its glossy sense of stability is enormous, and it may be preserving “1987” more precisely than the original master tape that would be stored in the official warehouse.
A full show of the “WHO’S THAT GIRL WORLD Tour”, which was at the peak of its popularity, is depicted with such visual beauty. The set is fixed throughout the tour and is the same as “CIAO ITALIA: LIVE FROM ITALY”. However, it is longer than the broadcast version with cuts by more than 20 minutes, so let’s organize it while comparing here.

● True Blue (7 songs)
・Open Your Heart/True Blue (★)/Papa Don’t Preach/White Heat/Where’s The Party/Live To Tell (★)/La Isla Bonita
● Others (9 songs)
・Burning Up: Lucky Star (★) / Holiday
・Like A Virgin: Dress You Up/Material Girl/Like A Virgin/Into The Groove
・Who’s That Girl: Causing A Commotion/The Look Of Love/Who’s That Girl
* Note: “★” marks are songs that were cut from the TV broadcast.

… and it looks like this. There are only three more songs when arranging them by song, but the intervals between songs and MC are significantly longer than the broadcast version. I do not know if it is a complete uncut unless it is unearthed even in the audience recording on the day, but it is probably complete.
And if I had to describe the set itself in one word, it would be “TRUE BLUE with my eyes”. All songs except “Jimmy Jimmy” and “Love Makes the World Go Round” from that masterpiece are shown, and past big hit songs are scattered there. The 28-year-old Madonna and a large number of cast members danced to a number of blockbuster songs that had conquered the world, and the many costume changes and elaborate stage sets were exciting. This extravagant entertainment is something that only the darlings of the times were allowed to do.
It is much longer than the TV broadcast at the time, and unlike “CIAO ITALIA: LIVE FROM ITALY”, it is full of one-show reality. Moreover, the quality is also the highest with the DVD conversion from the Japanese edition laser disc. It’s a masterpiece in every sense of the word. A piece that stands at the top of the imported culture of “Western music” beyond the dimension of simply excellent music video. Please enjoy it to the fullest.

★ A multi-camera pro shot of the performance of the masterpiece “June 22, 1987: Korakuen Stadium” that symbolizes the legendary first visit to Japan. This is a detailed DVD version of the out-of-print official video work “WHO’S THAT GIRL: LIVE IN JAPAN”. This show also has a re-edited work “CIAO ITALIA: LIVE FROM ITALY” mixed with the TV broadcast version at that time and the Italian performance, but this work is a complete version that is more than 20 minutes longer than the TV broadcast, “CIAO ITALIA: LIVE FROM ITALY” is full of reality of one show. Moreover, the quality is also the highest with the DVD conversion from the Japanese edition LD. It’s a masterpiece in every sense of the word.

そう、当時オフィシャル・リリースされた映像作品『WHO’S THAT GIRL: LIVE IN JAPAN』を精緻にDVD化した1枚です。

しかも、不完全だった放送を拡張した完全版が『WHO’S THAT GIRL: LIVE IN JAPAN』としてオフィシャル化。さらにはイタリア公演と混ぜられた再編集作『CIAO ITALIA: LIVE FROM ITALY』ともなり、全世界的に“WHO’S THAT GIRL WORLD Tour”を代表する映像作品として知られていったのです。
『WHO’S THAT GIRL: LIVE IN JAPAN』の日本盤レーザーディスクからDVD化されています。
そんな映像美で描かれるのは、人気絶頂だった“WHO’S THAT GIRL WORLD Tour”のフルショウ。

Open Your Heart/True Blue(★)/Papa Don’t Preach/White Heat/Where’s The Party/Live To Tell(★)/La Isla Bonita
Lucky Star(★)/Holiday
Dress You Up/Material Girl/Like A Virgin/Into The Groove
Causing A Commotion/The Look Of Love/Who’s That Girl

かの名作から「Jimmy Jimmy」「Love Makes the World Go Round」以外の全曲を披露し、そこに過去の大ヒット曲を散りばめている。

廃盤オフィシャル映像作品『WHO’S THAT GIRL: LIVE IN JAPAN』を精緻にDVD化した1枚です。
