In recent years, “Mike Millard Tape” has been digitized from the master direct or low generation tape. This tape was recorded by Mike Millard, a taper familiar to fans due to the outstanding technology of audience recording. The same label has released several sound sources based on this newly digitized Mike Millard tape, but if you look closely, you can see “Brushed Mike Millard Tape” and “Legendary Mike Millard.” Did you notice that there are two types of tapes? Not all Mike Millard tapes have perfect sound quality, and some of them have a lot of room for improvement, and the “Brushed” series has been significantly improved. Originally, it is almost perfect and there is not much room for sound quality improvement, and the “Legendary” series is the one that keeps the minimum of light editing such as between songs.

This time, the live sound source of the talented singer Linda Ronstad from the “Legendary” series appeared in 1990. As many fans may know, 1990 was just after the Grammy Awards were awarded for breaking new ground. “Don’t Know Much” was also a hit from the co-starring album with Aaron Neville, and it was a time when he was full of fat as a singer. Aaron Neville also participated in this live, and her hit song was also shown. Like the album, Rosemary Butler also participated and performed a wonderful backing vocal. At the end, it is a large-scale behavior such as adding the horn section of Tower of Power. It is a sound source that was recorded quite well, although the cheering of the audience was a little close. It has been edited to make the base lighter and thicker.
近年マスター直、或いはロウ・ジェネレーションのテープからデジタル化が進んでいる“マイク・ミラード・テープ”。オーディエンス録音の卓越した技術でファンにはお馴染みのテーパー、マイク・ミラード氏により録音されたテープです。同レーベルからもこの新デジタル化のマイク・ミラード・テープをマスターにした音源が複数リリースされておりますが、よく見ると“ブラッシュド・マイク・ミラード・テープ”と“レジェンダリー・マイク・ミラード・テープ”の二種類があることにお気付きでしょうか。マイク・ミラード・テープも全てが完璧な音質なわけではなく、中にはかなり手を加えて改良の余地があるものもあり、大幅に手を加えて改良されたものが“ブラッシュド”シリーズ。元々完璧に近く音質改良の余地があまり無く、曲間等の軽い編集など最低限にとどめてあるものが“レジェンダリー”シリーズとなります。

今回は“レジェンダリー”シリーズより実力派シンガーのリンダ・ロンシュタッドの1990年のライヴ音源登場です。ファンならご存じの方も多いかと思いますが、1990年と言えば、新たな境地を切り開き評価されグラミー賞受賞のすぐ後。アーロン・ネヴィルとの共演アルバムから『Don’t Know Much』もヒットし、シンガーとして脂がのり充実していた時期です。このライヴはまさにそのアーロン・ネヴィルも参加し、ヒット曲も披露。アルバム同様にローズマリー・バトラーも参加し素晴らしいバック・ヴォーカルを披露。最後にはタワー・オブ・パワーのホーン・セクションも加わるといった大盤振る舞いです。やや観客の声援が近いもののかなり良く録れた音源です。軽くベースに厚みを持たせる編集がされています。
