Live at Cobo Hall, Detroit, MI, USA 13th July 1973

From the 1973 North American tour, a title that includes all songs from the audience recording that debuted on July 13th in Detroit has appeared!

Speaking of the Detroit performance in 1973, the audience recording of the first day performance on July 12, the day before, has been a standard for a long time, and in recent years the second audience recording has been excavated, and by combining them, the whole picture of the first day is almost clear. It was quite a topic, but the main board was the same place, but the performance on the second and 13th of the Detroit performance the next day.
On this day, there was a 50-minute sound board sound source that captured only the final part of the live, but this time the audience recording finally appeared for the first time. Moreover, the appearance in almost complete recording (with 3 cuts) for about 2 hours and 50 minutes has an outstanding impact.

In terms of sound quality, it is also a point that it is a good stereo recording as a sound source that first appeared in recent years.Specifically, the performance itself is firmly localized in the center, and the sound image has a monaural texture, but the reverberation and the cheers of the audience It feels like stereo localization (* Dancing Days only has a almost monaural texture). For example, compared to the two Aud sound sources performed on the 12th of the first day, there is a slight sense of distance to the stage, but the roughness of the master’s sound is not so noticeable and the noise is less. It seems that the master this time appeared after some treatment was done, but even so, it is stable from beginning to end, and it can be said that it is a fairly excellent sound source that can be viewed through with almost no problems except for three cuts.

In this board, the minimum necessary careful mastering is performed based on this first appearance master.
In the original master, the low and high frequencies were lacking near the mid range, and the texture was flat and poorly removed with a thin film, but the EQ balance correction was done mainly for the reinforcement of the low and high frequencies. , Hiss has increased a little, but the balance correction of Shioume, which clearly has a good outlook and gives a feeling of groove and power of the original performance, has been finely applied. Also, of course, the volume that was low is adjusted appropriately within the range that does not distort.

On the editorial side, it seems that some treatment was originally applied, and there seems to be no major correction point, but there is digital silence near the cut part in the “No Quarter” song (CD time around 7:06). The breaks in the part are removed smoothly,
In addition, there were some spots! The digital noise called is also removed as much as possible.
The pitch was also corrected to be slightly higher in the first half of “NQ” and the beginning of “heaven”.
In addition, regarding the cut in the song of “Moby Dick” (around 22:22), the noise of the right channel that occurred in the cut part has been carefully corrected, but this time the sound board sound source is used for compensation. Not done.

The sound board sound source of the day is recorded on Disc 4 as a bonus disc.

Live at Cobo Hall, Detroit, MI, USA 13th July 1973
