70’s KISS where the excavation of extremely rare professional shots is occurring in rapid succession. In the new excavation collection, a rehearsal video that will give you a shocking impact is now available.
The tour rehearsal held in 1976 is included in this work. This is a staff shot taken with a monochrome one-camera. This video itself has been known for a long time, and is commonly known as “Dress Rehearsals 1976” and “Without Make-Up Tour Rehearsals”. It has been loved as a bonus content for the video work “HOUSTON 1976” in our shop as well. The same monochrome video was excavated this time, but the length is completely different. Previously, the total of the two rehearsal videos was about 41 minutes, but the new master is about 2.8 times. It is a long version that lasts for 1 hour and 56 minutes.
The two rehearsals recorded in this work can be roughly classified into three. Let’s introduce each one individually.
The content of the rehearsal deepens the suspicion. The two-story stage set is also firmly assembled, and the members are also wearing stage costumes. The Pyro is also fierce, and a big enthusiasm just like the actual performance is unfolding. Judging only from the video, it looks like a rehearsal just before the same venue as the actual performance, and it does not seem to be something that anticipates a month later.
Aside from such a mystery, the real thrill of live music with a precious rehearsal atmosphere and enthusiasm is wonderful. In the past, the master had only the first three songs (about 10 minutes), but this work has doubled. You can enjoy 5 songs including Jean’s bass solo approaching with a do-up.

The rehearsal content can be divided into two, the first half of the rehearsal is for practicing new songs. I often repeat the same song over and over and stop in the middle. We are rehearsing 5 songs and 14 takes in total. The practice scene is extremely rare even in the rehearsal video, and especially in the final “Beth”, Peter sings in a doup. The precious feeling like a private shot is irresistible.
And the latter half of the rehearsal turned into a serious mode. It’s a rehearsal through which 14 songs are played at once just like the actual performance, and each person’s solo is also done with chitin. Traditionally known was the last 30 minutes of this rehearsal, but this time it’s fully enjoyable from pole position Detroit Rock City.

This is a treasured video that lasts for 1 hour and 56 minutes. A phantom super rare image that was deleted in a blink of an eye while the shock spread among collectors with its appearance. This work is a DVD version of the full version. Although it is a little maniac content, it is a treasure that you can witness the backstage of the heyday that you can not even know normally. Please enjoy it to your heart’s content.
★ 1976 Tour Rehearsal Video Collection. This is a staff shot taken with a monochrome one-camera, and is a new master that has been greatly expanded from the conventional 41-minute version to 1 hour and 56 minutes. There are two types of rehearsals, and the first 20 minutes is a “dress rehearsal” just like the actual performance. Not only the costumes but also the stage set is the same as the actual performance, and the Pyro is a full-scale rehearsal that explodes with Dokkan Dokkan. The second half is an even more rare “no makeup rehearsal”. Practice the new song of “ROCK & ROLL OVER” many times, and also perform through rehearsal including solo. It is a shocking treasure image that you can witness the backstage of the heyday.

激レアなプロショットの発掘が連発している70年代KISS。その新発掘コレクションでもド級の衝撃を振りまくリハーサル映像が登場です。
そんな本作に収められているのは1976年に行われたツアー・リハーサル。モノクロのワンカメで撮影されたスタッフ・ショットです。この映像自体は従来から知られており、“Dress Rehearsals 1976”・“Without Make-Up Tour Rehearsals”と通称されて流通。当店でも映像作『HOUSTON 1976』のボーナス・コンテンツとして愛されてきました。今回発掘されたのも同じモノクロ映像ではあるのですが、長さがまるで違う。従来は２つのリハーサル映像を合計して約41分だったのですが、新マスターはなんと約2.8倍。１時間56分にも及ぶ長尺版なのです。
本作に収録されているリハーサル２ヶ所で、大きく３つに分類できる。早速それぞれ個別にご紹介していきましょう。
【ドレス・リハ：1976年６月（約20分）】
まず最初に登場するのは「1976年６月のウェストベリー・エアフィールド」で行われたとされるドレス・リハーサル。ただし、これはちょっと謎でもあります。従来から「６月８日ー12日」と日付まで指定されていたのですが、これはタイミング的に“DESTROYER Tour”の「欧州レッグ」が終了してから２日後。次の「北米レッグ」まで約１ヶ月もあり、やや不自然なのです。
さらに疑念を深めるのが、リハーサルの内容。２階建てのステージセットもしっかりと組まれ、メンバーもきっちりステージ衣装。パイロもどっかんどっかんと激しく、本番さながらの大熱演が繰り広げられている。映像だけで判断すると本番と同じ会場の直前リハにしか見えず、とても１ヶ月後を見越したものには思えないのです。
そんな謎はさておき、内容的には貴重なリハの雰囲気と気合いの入った生演奏の醍醐味が素晴らしい。従来マスターでは冒頭３曲（約10分）だけでしたが、本作は２倍増。ドアップで迫るジーンのベースソロまで盛り込んだ５曲が楽しめます。

【ノーメイク・リハ：SIRスタジオ（約96分）】
続く２つめの映像はさらに激レア＆激増量！ こちらはニューヨークの「SIRスタジオ」で行われたリハーサル。時期は確定されていませんが、選曲的に“ROCK & ROLL OVER Tour”に向けてのツアー・リハーサルと思われます。こちらも同じようにモノクロ・ワンカメではありますが、こちらは本番会場ではなく、メンバーもノーメイクで普段着（と言いますか半裸）。ドレスリハよりも明らかに初期段階のもの。そして、従来盤からの増量分も凄い。以前は５曲（約30分）ほどでしたが、今回は３倍の約90分なのです。
そのリハーサル内容は２つに分けられる、リハサール前半は、新曲を練習するもの。同じ曲を何度もやり直し、途中で止まることもしばしば。合計で５曲・14テイクをリハーサルしています。練習風景はリハーサル映像でも激レアですし、特に最後の「Beth」ではピーターがドアップで歌う。プライベート・ショットのような貴重感がたまりません。
そして、リハーサル後半は一転して本気モード。本番さながらに14曲を一気に演奏し、各人のソロもキチンとやる通しリハーサルなのです。従来知られてきたのは、この通しリハーサルの最後の30分でしたが、今回はポールポジションの「Detroit Rock City」からフルで楽しめるのです。

以上、１時間56分に及ぶ秘蔵映像です。登場と共にコレクター間に衝撃が広がりつつ、あっと言う間に削除されてしまった幻の激レア映像。本作は、そのフル・バージョンをDVD化した１枚なのです。ややマニアックな内容ながら、普段はうかがい知ることさえできない全盛時代の裏舞台に立ち会えるお宝。どうぞ、心ゆくまで存分にお楽しみください。
