A master collection of the golden age professional shots that continues to shake collectors around the world. The latest bullet is the climax “DESTROYER Tour” that was raised from the original reel.
Included in this work is “Houston performance on August 13, 1976”. It is the multi-camera pro shot. In 1976, three tours are adjacent to each other, and this week the similar title “HOUSTON 1977 1ST NIGHT / 2ND NIGHT” will be released at the same time. In order to avoid confusion, let’s first take a bird’s eye view of the whole activity at that time.

This is the 1976/1977 KISS. “HOUSTON 1977 1ST NIGHT / 2ND NIGHT”, which will be released at the same time this week, was a record of the “LOVE GUN Tour”, but this work is the “DESTROYER Tour” about a year ago. It was a concert that was the 22nd performance of “North America # 3”. Speaking of the professional shot of “DESTROYER Tour”, “ANAHEIM 1976” is also a big classic, but this work is also one week before that.
Pro shots have been known for a long time on this day, and reign as a classic representative of the “DESTROYER Tour”. We have also introduced it at the time of upgrade at our store. This work is the latest version master which should be called the final version. It is a brand item that updates the highest peak digitized from the original reel brought by the same route as the outflow series of our store.
We are upgrading both recording time / quality, but quality first. This is overwhelming! It is obvious even if you compare it with our shop’s “HOUSTON 1976 EXPANDED EDITION” which was the highest peak version so far. The resolution of the details and the beauty of the color development have improved by several steps, there is no blurring or cloudiness, and the parts that were twisted or deteriorated are glossy. The sound is more vivid than the image, and it is completely different from the sound of conventional TV sound recorded with a radio cassette player. Overwhelming on density and thick feeling like an outflow sound board. Whether it’s visual beauty or sound, it’s a level that can be recorded in “KISSOLOGY” as it is.
And there is no time counter in the second half! You may think, “What is it all of a sudden?”, Actually, the pro shot of this show was distributed separately in the first half / second half. Known for a long time is the broadcast pro shot of about 31 minutes in the first half, and about 33 minutes in the second half was excavated in later years with a time counter. The existing “HOUSTON 1976 EXPANDED EDITION” was a combination of both. However, this work has no time counter in the second half part, and the quality is the same as the first half (However, due to the switching of the first half master, the latter half of “Nothin’ To Lose” / the beginning of “God Of Thunder” is missing points are the same).
Well, another upgrade is the recording time. While “HOUSTON 1976 EXPANDED EDITION” was about 64 minutes, this work is a long master of about 94 minutes. The songs that have been cut so far are also recorded longer, but the longer one is the scene before the performance. Here, the appearance of a large audience waiting for the performance is recorded for a long time. Of course, this scene is also a professional shot. In the broadcast pro shot, the video was used for about 10 seconds as the title screen, but in this work, it is recorded for 30 minutes. Of course, it’s a scene that doesn’t matter musically, but it’s fun to flirt with the 70’s bare fashion and the camera, and flirt as if to show off. Moreover, in the background, the famous songs of THE ROLLING STONES, which seems to have been used at the venue, are played on the soundboard. It’s a scene that I’m surprised to see.
Even so, the leading role is the show itself of the climax “DESTROYER Tour”. Finally, let’s organize the set while comparing it with the masterpieces of the before and after tours.

これが1976年／1977年のKISS。今週同時リリースとなる『HOUSTON 1977 1ST NIGHT／2ND NIGHT』は“LOVE GUN Tour”の記録でしたが、本作は約１年前の“DESTROYER Tour”。「北米#3」の22公演目にあたるコンサートでした。“DESTROYER Tour”のプロショットと言えば『ANAHEIM 1976』も大定番ですが、本作はその一週間前でもあります。
この日は古くからプロショットが知られており、“DESTROYER Tour”を代表する定番として君臨。当店でもアップグレードの度にご紹介してきました。本作は、その最終版とも言うべき最新版マスター。当店の関係者流出シリーズと同じルートでもたらされたオリジナル・リールからデジタル化された過去最高峰を更新する銘品なのです。
収録時間／クオリティの両面でアップグレードしているわけですが、まずクオリティ。これがもう圧倒的！　これまでの最高峰版であった当店の『HOUSTON 1976 EXPANDED EDITION』と比較しても一目瞭然。ディテールの解像度も発色の美しさも数段向上しており、滲みもなければ曇りもなくなり、ヨレや劣化が発生していたパートも艶やか。その映像より鮮烈なのがサウンドでして、従来のTV音声をラジカセで録音したようなサウンドとはまったく違う。流出サウンドボード然としたオンな密度と極太感が圧倒的。映像美にせよ、サウンドにせよ、このまま『KISSOLOGY』に収録できるレベルです。
そして、後半にタイムカウンターがない！　「いきなり何のこと？」と思われるかも知れませんが、実はこのショウのプロショットは前半／後半が別々に流通していました。古くから知られるのは前半の約31分の放送プロショットで、後半の約33分は後年になって発掘されたものでタイムカウンター付き。既発『HOUSTON 1976 EXPANDED EDITION』は、両者を合わせていたのです。ところが、本作は後半パートもタイムカウンターがなく、クオリティも前半と統一された極上版なのです（ただし前後半マスターの切り替えで「Nothin’ To Lose」後半／「God Of Thunder」序盤が欠けている点は同じです）。
さて、もう１つのアップグレードなのが収録時間。『HOUSTON 1976 EXPANDED EDITION』が約64分だったのに対し、本作はなんと約94分に及ぶ長尺マスターなのです。これまでカットされていた曲間も長めに収録されていますが、何よりも長尺なのは開演前シーン。ここでは、開演を待つ大観衆の姿が長ーく収録されているのです。もちろん、このシーンもプロショット。放送プロショットではタイトル画面として10秒ほど使われていた映像ですが、本作では30分も収録しているのです。もちろん、音楽的にはどうという事のないシーンではあるのですが、70年代丸出しのファッションやカメラに向かってはしゃいだり、見せびらかすようにいちゃつくムードも楽しかったりする。しかも、バックには会場で使われていたと思しきTHE ROLLING STONESの名曲群がサウンドボードで流れる。意外と見入ってしまうシーンだったりします。
そうは言っても主役は絶頂“DESTROYER Tour”のショウそのもの。最後に、前後ツアーの代表作と比較しながらセットも整理しておきましょう。
