The new masterpiece “NEWARK 2022” has greatly updated the highest peak of the 2022 version “LEGACY OF THE BEAST Tour” and has reached a level comparable to the official live album “NIGHTS OF THE DEAD”. Celebrating the birth of a new masterpiece, a special 3-disc version will be urgently released!
This work contains two superb records of one show. This is a 3-disc set that includes a super-superb audience recording and a powerful audience shot of “October 21, 2022 Newark Performance”. It’s also a simultaneous release, which is rare so far, so let’s organize the contents.

For such a masterpiece, it would be a waste if it were buried in the usual two-disc single release. Then, I set the video of the same performance and made it a 3-disc set … but what if I watched only the DVD with the video and did not notice the full live album … …. After going through the twists and turns of this, the simultaneous release of “a quintessential full-recording 2-disc set (Shades 1631) for the easy-going group” and “a 3-disc set (this work) for the orthodox group who listens properly to live albums even with video”. It happened. [DISC 3: Super special seat shot from the front] For that reason, please refer to the commentary on the simultaneous release of the two-disc set “Shades 1631” for the full live album, which is also the main part. Here, we will introduce the added audience shot (DISC 3).
“Well, it’s just a bonus… you might think, but this is a masterpiece that could be released separately.” First and foremost is the position. It is taken from the arena on the left side of the stage (Dave Murray side), but this is already very close! “I don’t know exactly, but it’s probably the third row.” Dave stands in front of you as if you can reach it, and the many tricks are approaching with great force.
“Even the voice is amazing.” As expected, it is not as good as DISC 1-2, which is the tour’s masterpiece, but it is in line with “KAUNAS 2022 (Shades 1537)” and “HAMILTON 2022 (Shades 1624)”, which were the masterpieces until the other day. To be honest, it was considered to replace only the voice with the ultimate recording, but it is a pity to miss another wonderful recording so far.
Another thing is that this voice has the effect of raising the reality of this work. Recently, even ordinary people can easily edit video, and multi-camera editing is no longer rare for audiences. However, the “experience of the show” by the one-cam shot has become so prized. That’s right, the emphasis is on the real pleasure of having a simulated experience of a special seat where you can’t get a ticket. Audio is also important for this “experience”. No matter how good the audio is, if the sense of distance from the sight is far away, or if the audience’s applause in front of you is silent, it will sound like a lie. In that respect, the sound of this work DISC 3 is of the highest quality on the tour, and the feeling of synchronism with the video is also tremendous.
The “LEGACY OF THE BEAST Tour”, which was announced but never made it to Japan. This is a superb set that will give you the experience of a dream that has ended in illusion. A miracle recording that can be heard as the “2022 version of NIGHTS OF THE DEAD” and a super special seat experience at the forefront. 【DISC 1-2：ツアー最高傑作となるフル・ライヴアルバム】
以上の３枚組です。なぜ故にこのようなリリースとなったのか。それは何より本編である２枚組オーディエンス録音がスゴすぎるからです。当店では2018年から始まった“LEGACY OF THE BEAST Tour”を様々な傑作でレポートしてきましたが、今回の新録音は間違いなくズバ抜けた最高傑作。『ROCK IN RIO BRASIL 2019（Zodiac 353）』『ROCK IN RIO BRASIL 2022（Shades 1601）』といった象徴プロショットを除けば………いや、あのサウンドボード音声さえも越えている超傑作なのです。
それほどの名作だけに、慣例通りの２枚組単発リリースでは埋もれてしまっては勿体ない。では、同公演の映像をセットして３枚組に……となったわけですが、映像付きだとDVDばかり観てしまってフル・ライヴアルバムの凄みに気づかれなかったらどうしよう……。との紆余曲折を経て「お手軽派には真髄のフル録音２枚組（Shades 1631）」、「映像付きでもライヴアルバムもちゃんと聴く本格派には３枚組（本作）」という同時リリースとなったわけです。
【DISC 3：最前部からの超・特等席ショット】
と言うわけでして、本編でもあるフル・ライヴアルバムに関しては同時リリースの２枚組版『Shades 1631』の解説をご参照ください。ここでは、追加されたオーディエンス・ショット（DISC 3）についてご紹介します。
まあ、どうせオマケだろ……と思われるかも知れませんが、これがまた単独リリース可能なほどの傑作だったりします。まず何より素晴らしいのはポジション。ステージ左側（デイヴ・マーレイ側）のアリーナから撮影されているのですが、これがもう激近！ 厳密には分かりませんが、恐らくは３列目。手が届きそうなほど目の前にデイヴが立ち、数々の仕掛けもド迫力で迫ってくるのです。
さらに音声までスゴい。さすがにツアー最高傑作であるDISC 1-2には及びませんが、つい先日まで最高傑作だった『KAUNAS 2022（Shades 1537）』『HAMILTON 2022（Shades 1624）』とは並んでしまう。正直なところ、音声だけ究極録音と差し替える事も検討されましたが、ここまで見事な別録音も聞き逃すのは惜しいのです。
もう１つ、この音声は本作のリアリティを引き上げる効果もある。最近では一般人でもカンタンに映像編集が可能になり、オーディエンスでもマルチカメラ編集が珍しくなくなりました。ところが、そうなるほどに珍重されるようになってきたのがワンカメ・ショットによる「ショウの体験感」。そうそうチケットが手に入らない特等席を疑似体験する醍醐味が重視されているのです。この「体験感」には音声も重要。いかにオーディオ的に優れた音声であっても、視界との距離感がかけ離れていたり、目の前の観客の拍手が無音だとウソっぽくなってしまう。その点、本作DISC 3の音声はツアー屈指というクオリティでありつつ、映像とのシンクロ感も絶大なのです。
