Iron Maiden / Drammen 1988 / 2CDR / Shades
Drammenshallen, Drammen, Norway 5th October 1988
IRON MAIDEN in 1988, which sent the masterpiece “Seventh Son of a Seventh Prophecy” to No. 1 in the UK and was at the height of the 1980s. It is the birth of a new masterpiece that allows you to experience the scene in the best possible way.
It is “October 5, 1988 Drammen performance (Norway)” that is imbued with such a work. It is the thick audience recording. Speaking of the “Seventh Son of a Seventh Prophecy” era, the Monsters of Rock formalized in “MAIDEN ENGLAND” and “BBC ARCHIVES” are symbolic, but probably because they are so famous, audience recordings are not widely distributed. It was. This work is a new excavation live album that is ideal for experiencing such “unexpected little spots” in the field.
Before the contents that were worrisome, first of all, the position of the show. Let’s look back on the big picture of “SEVENTH TOUR OF A SEVENTH TOUR”.
“April 11th,” SEVENTH SON OF A SEVENTH SON “released”
・ April 28 + 29: West Germany (2 performances)
・ May 8th-August 10th: North America (60 performances)
・ August 17 + 20: UK # 1 (2 performances) ← * MONSTERS OF ROCK
・ August 27-October 5: Europe (20 performances) ← ★ Coco ★
・ November 18-December 12: UK # 2 (16 performances) ← * MAIDEN ENGLAND
This is 1988 IRON MAIDEN. Roughly divided into “North America” and “UK + Europe”, the official work was produced from two “UK” dates. The Drammen performance of this work is the continental Europe edition that was held in the meantime. It was a concert on the last day of the “Europe” leg. Speaking of Continental Europe, the press masterpiece “SEVENTH SON OF STOCKHOLM (Zodiac 022)” reigns as a staple in our shop, but this work is also after the 3 performances.
This work recorded at such a show is a new master that was excavated very recently. Although it is a 2nd Gene Master. The extra-thickness of the core and the delicate details are as wonderful as “SEVENTH SON OF STOCKHOLM”! It is not mistaken for a sound board in terms of tone, but it is amazing because it does not give a sense of distance. Steve Harris’s bass is slamming one note at a time, and Nico’s singing heart drumming is also outstanding and the rhythm has a wonderfully structured feeling. Twin harmonies run around in the structure of the geometric rhythm, and the feeling of separation that does not mix with each other is tremendous. You can taste the “umami of 80’s maiden” which is a symbol of heavy metal but different from any metal band. Since it is a 2nd gene, I introduced it from the Shades label in anticipation of discovering a miracle Omoto master, but it is a brand that can be pressed in terms of content.
The clear sound is drawn by the full show of “SEVENTH TOUR OF A SEVENTH TOUR” which is different from the symbolic work “MAIDEN ENGLAND”. As expected, the set is the same as the latest “SEVENTH SON OF STOCKHOLM”, but it is also a good opportunity, so let’s organize it here.
● Diano era (4 songs)
・ Wrathchild (*) / Iron Maiden / Running Free / Sanctuary
● The Number of the Beast (4 songs)
・ The Prisoner / The Number Of The Beast / Hallowed Be Thy Name / Run To The Hills
● Seventh Prophecy (6 songs)
・ Moonchild / The Evil That Men Do / Infinite Dreams (★) / Can I Play With Madness / The Clairvoyant / Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son

・ Somewhere in Time: Heaven Can Wait / Wasted Years
* Note: The “*” mark is a song that could not be heard in the official “MAIDEN ENGLAND”. The “★” mark is a limited song from 1988.
…… And it looks like this. “MAIDEN ENGLAND” included a slightly rare revival song, probably because of the balance with “Live After Death”, but the standard form of “SEVENTH TOUR OF A SEVENTH TOUR” is rather this work. From a modern point of view, there is nothing from “Powerslave”, or from “Seventh Son of a Seventh Prophecy”, all songs except “The Prophecy” and “Only the Good Die Young” have a fresh sense of balance. Especially delicious is “Infinite Dreams”. At that time, it was whispered as “Judgment Day Part 2”, and it was a masterpiece that was cut to a live single, but in fact it has never been performed live after that. You can experience the “1988 limited symbol song” on-site with the best sound.
The “Seventh Prophecy” was the final work of the “dramatic route” pursued over the 1980s. “What’s worth doing is worth overdoing,” says David Coverdale, but it was, as the word says, “an era of done.” What is vacuum-packed in this work is the site of such an extreme tour. Unfortunately, this live album allows you to experience “SEVENTH TOUR OF A SEVENTH TOUR”, which you couldn’t experience in Japan, 100% realistically. Please enjoy it carefully.
★ A powerful audience recording of “October 5, 1988 Drammen Performance (Norway)”. The 2nd Gene Master, which was recently excavated, is as wonderful as the press masterpiece “SEVENTH SON OF STOCKHOLM (Zodiac 022)” with its thick core and fine details! Although the tone has an audience-like appearance, it is a direct sound that does not give a sense of distance at all. It is a new masterpiece that you can experience the masterpiece “Infinite Dreams” that was not played at all on the subsequent tour.
