The champion IRON MAIDEN who finally completed the European leg of “LEGACY OF THE BEAST Tour” and conquered the European summer festival. Two of the best live albums that will be the latest report are now available.
This work is the first of two series that will be released at the same time this week. This is the best audience recording of “July 4, 2022 Berlin performance”. This is the 2022 “LEGACY OF THE BEAST Tour”. Now they have finished the European leg and have just entered the South American leg for about a month off. The Berlin performance of this work was the 18th performance of the European leg that had just finished.
The European leg is being summarized among collectors all over the world, and this work is a famous recording that is whispered as one of the winning candidates. So far, the provisional champion of the tour has been said to be “KAUNAS 2022 (Shades 1537)”, but that too expensive stronghold is also being evaluated with the momentum of being a crusher. In fact, the sound is superb. The on-core roars very thickly, and if the details are fine, the feeling of separation is outstanding. Even if the three guitars overlap, they do not mix, and the maiden-specific construction feeling that the bass and rhythm weave is also very three-dimensional. The reason is the venue in addition to the skill of the recorder. After all, the site “Berliner Waldbuhne” is an amphitheater in the Berlin Olympics performance, and there are no sound-reflecting walls or ceilings in the audience seats. The sound output of PA is directly picked up with zero echo.
Moreover, this venue is surrounded by forests. It is located in the middle of nature, which spreads like a tree sea, and no artificial objects can be seen in the vicinity even in aerial photographs. As you can imagine, the volume limit may be looser than at other venues. The sound that flows out of this work is also huge. Of course, it’s glossy and noiseless, and it doesn’t chatter, and the volume can be adjusted on the player side. Even so, I still feel the “big sound” because it’s thick. Despite the fact that there is no hall noise and it is super tight, the thickness from high to deep bass is tremendous and it is insanely dynamic.
Another point of this work is the amount of heat of the audience. As expected, it is suppressed to a super-dynamic performance sound, but it still picks up singing and cheering relatively large. And it depends here whether or not this work will take the throne of “Tour No. 1”. The performance sound is completely equal to the neat and clear “KAUNAS 2022” and this dynamic work, but the power of the chorus and “Hey! Hey!” Is clearly higher than this work. “KAUNAS 2022” will remain the champion for those who say “completion is just an atmosphere. Performance sound is everything”, but for those who get tired of the heat of the field, this work will be the champion. (Even the new song of “Tactical” is a great chorus).

The performance in Portugal on the last day of the European leg has just finished, so it cannot be said that the recordings have been completed yet. At present, it is not possible to declare “Tour No. 1”, but this work is one of the most promising candidates. One of the masterpieces that has been fired to dispel the anger accumulated in the pandemic, with its dynamic sound and burning heat. Please enjoy it to your heart’s content!

これが2022年の“LEGACY OF THE BEAST Tour”。現在の彼らは欧州レッグを終え、南米レッグまで約１ヶ月のオフに入ったところ。本作のベルリン公演は、終わったばかりの欧州レッグの18公演目にあたるコンサートでした。
世界中のコレクター間では、今まさに欧州レッグの総括が進んでいる最中で、本作はその優勝候補の１つとも囁かれている名録音。これまでのところ、ツアーの暫定王者は『KAUNAS 2022（Shades 1537）』とされてきましたが、あの高すぎる牙城も切り崩さんとする勢いで評価を上げているのです。実際、そのサウンドは極上級。オンな芯が極太に轟き、ディテールも細やかならセパレート感も抜群。３本のギターが重なり合っても混じり合わず、ベースとリズムが織りなすメイデン特有の構築感も非常に立体的です。その要因は、録音家の技術に加えて会場もある。何しろ、現場となった“Berliner Waldbuhne”はベルリン・オリンピック公演の中にある円形劇場で、客席には音を反射する壁も天井もない。ＰＡの出音を反響ゼロでダイレクトに拾っているのです。
しかも、この会場は森に囲まれている。まるで樹海のように広がる自然のど真ん中にあり、航空写真でも近隣に人工物が見えない。あくまで想像ですが、音量制限が他の会場よりも緩いのかも知れません。本作から流れ出る出音もデカいのです。もちろん、艶やかノイズレスでビビったりはしませんし、音量は再生機側でどうとでもなる。それでも「音のデカさ」を感じるのは、ぶ厚いから。ホール鳴り皆無で超タイトにも関わらず、高音から重低音までの厚みが凄まじく、めちゃくちゃダイナミックなのです。
もう１つ本作のポイントは観客の熱量。さすがに超ダイナミックな演奏音に抑え込まれはしますが、それでも唱和や声援も比較的大きめに拾っています。そして、本作が「ツアーNo.1」の王座に就くか否かは、ここにかかっている。演奏音では端正クリアな『KAUNAS 2022』とダイナミックな本作で完全に互角なのですが、合唱や「Hey！ Hey！」のパワーは本作が明らかに上回っているのです。「完成はあくまで雰囲気物。演奏音こそがすべて」という方は『KAUNAS 2022』が王者のままでしょうが、現場の熱量に手がグーになってしまう方には本作こそが王者となるのです（『戦術』の新曲でも凄い大合唱です）。

欧州レッグ最終日のポルトガル公演も終わったばかりで、まだ録音が出揃ったとは言えない。現状で「ツアーNo.1」を断言することはできませんが、本作はその最有力候補の１つです。パンデミックで溜まった鬱憤を払拭するように連発した傑作群の中でもダイナミック・サウンドと灼熱の熱気で格別の１本。どうぞ、存分にお楽しみください！
