HEART in the CAPITOL label era, which reigned as a darling of the times again. A super-famous board that modifies the super-superb rare track is re-appearing in the second press.
This work, which should be called a “quasi-official work”, covers the official rare tracks from the “HEART” to “DESIRE WALKS ON” eras in 1985. These are the treasures that were recorded in their heyday but were not recorded on the original album. Of course, since it was originally an official track, the quality is completely official. It also includes carefully selected tracks of extremely rare mint and more (described later). It’s not just a rare collector’s item, it’s one of the best in history that’s more than fun to listen to alongside the official original album.
Let’s introduce the shining treasures in detail. It’s mainly about data, so I hope you can read it back while listening to it.

Of these, the most notable is “These Dreams,” which has three takes. Not to mention that it has not been released on CD, it is a take only for the UK-only 12-inch etched single. Moreover, this single is not just a thing. The package has a grooved surface in contact with the mount, and even the unopened board in the shipping state has many scratches and scratches and noises occur frequently. In this work, we have collected a number of core collector’s treasured items, and remastered the best ones. We recorded “the best take only for this work” that removed scratch noise as much as possible. This is the “more than official track” I mentioned at the beginning.
Also, the “original version” is also a point. There are two songs, “Never” and “Nothin’At All”, but after the single was released, the album was replaced with a remixed version. Even in the subsequent reissues, the remixed version has been unified and continues to the present day. “Here Is Christmas” under the name of ANN & NANCY WILSON is an instrumental version of only a single, and “I Don’t Wanna Lose Tonight” is a demo track. This demo, like the demo from the “HEART” era above, is an unreleased song that has never been released. The songs not included in the album are “Cruel Tears”, “Never Stop Loving You” and “The Will To Love”. [1993-1994 “DESIRE WALKS ON” era] ・ Remix version (1 song)

The highlight here is the “Demo Take (2 songs)”. Both are rare tracks related to the official box “STRANGE EUPHORIA”. First of all, “Desire Walks On” is a demo called “Beach Demo Corrected Version” that was supposed to be included in the box. However, since the album version was mistakenly recorded in the official box, the original rare version was recorded in this work.
Furthermore, “What Is And What Should Never Be” is an extremely rare track recorded only in “ZEPPISH” that came with the first limited edition of the mass retailer of “STRANGE EUPHORIA”. This is a demo track in which John Paul Jones of ZEP participates.
Above, the treasures of all 33 tracks. An unreleased song that I heard for the first time, a live that was difficult to collect, and a remix with a super-famous song that fascinates another face. It is a 2-disc set that condenses all of them with the highest existing version. All of them are full of the brilliance of HEART in its heyday, yet they are all fresh treasures. 再び時代の寵児として君臨していたCAPITOLレーベル時代のHEART。その超・極上レアトラックを修正した超名盤がセカンド・プレスで再登場です。
まさに「準オフィシャル作品」と呼ぶべき本作がカバーしているのは、1985年の『HEART』から『DESIRE WALKS ON』時代までの公式レア・トラック。まさに全盛期に記録されながら、オリジナル・アルバムには収録されなかった秘宝たちなのです。もちろん、元は公式トラックですから、クオリティは完全オフィシャル級。それもミント状態の激レア盤やそれ以上（後述します）のトラックも厳選収録。単に珍しいコレクターズ・アイテムではなく、公式オリジナル・アルバムと並べて聴いても十二分に楽しい史上最高峰の１本です。
それでは、その輝ける秘宝たちを詳しくご紹介していきましょう。ややデータ的な話が主になりますので、実際に聴きながら読み返して頂ければ幸いです。
【1985年『HEART』時代】
まず登場するのはブレイクスルーとなった出世作『HEART』曲のレアテイクたち。多種多様ではありますが、分かりやすいようにざっくり分類しますと……

この中でも注目なのが３テイクある「These Dreams」。未CD化なのはもちろん、イギリス限定の12インチ・エッチド・シングルのみのテイクです。しかも、このシングルがただ物ではない。溝のある面が台紙と接触したパッケージになっており、出荷状態の未開封盤ですら傷が多くスクラッチ・ノイズが多発するというシロモノなのです。本作では、コア・コレクターの秘蔵品をいくつも集め、その中からベストなものを更にリマスター。可能な限りスクラッチ・ノイズを除去した“本作だけの最良テイク”を収録しました。これが冒頭でお話しした「公式以上のトラック」なのです。
また、「オリジナル・バージョン」もポイント。「Never」と「Nothin’ At All」の２曲なのですが、シングル発売以降はアルバムでもリミックス・バージョンに差し替え。その後の再発盤でもリミックス版のまま統一され、現在に至っています。本作では、その経緯から逆に貴重となってしまったオリジナル・バージョンを収録しているのです。

いずれもシングルにのみ収録されていたロングバージョンやリミックスです。当時でも細かいトラックを収集するのが面倒でしたし、現在ではほぼ不可能に近い。そんな秘宝たちを本作で一網打尽にできます。

ANN & NANCY WILSON名義の「Here Is Christmas」は、シングルだけのインスト・バージョン、「I Don’t Wanna Lose Tonight」はデモ・トラックです。このデモは上記『HEART』時代のデモと同じく、これまで一切発売されなかった未発表曲。アルバム未収録曲は「Cruel Tears」「Never Stop Loving You」「The Will To Love」の３曲です。

ここでの目玉は、ズバリ「デモ・テイク（２曲）」。どちらも公式ボックス『STRANGE EUPHORIA』絡みのレアトラックです。まず、「Desire Walks On」は、“Beach Demo Corrected Version”と呼ばれるデモで本来ボックスに収録されるはずだったもの。しかし、公式ボックスでは間違ってアルバム・ヴァージョンが収録されてしまったので、本作に本来のレア・バージョンを収録しました。
さらに「What Is And What Should Never Be」は『STRANGE EUPHORIA』の量販店初回限定盤に付属していた『ZEPPISH』にのみに収録された激レアトラック。ZEPのジョン・ポール・ジョーンズが参加しているデモ・トラックです。
以上、全33トラックの秘宝たち。初めて耳にする未発表曲、コレクトの難しかったライヴ、そして超名曲が別の顔を魅せるリミックス……。そのすべてを現存する最高バージョンで凝縮した２枚組です。いずれも全盛期HEARTの輝きに満ち、それでいて新鮮なお宝ばかり。どうぞ、をたっぷりとご堪能ください。
