“We’re F’N’ Back! Tour” by GUNS N’ ROSES is sweeping the world again this year. A full pro shot that you can enjoy the latest stage is arriving.
This work was filmed at “Pilton performance on June 24, 2023”. It is a multi-camera pro shot when appearing at the music festival “GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL” which should be said to be a symbol of the UK. Seven years have already passed since Slash / Duff McKagan’s return, but speaking of full pro shots, this is the third one following “ROCK IN RIO 2017” and “ROCK IN RIO 2022”. This is the overall picture of the “We’re F’N’ Back! Tour” that has been announced to date. The “GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL” appearance of this work was the 6th performance of “Europe # 2”. There was a five-year blank from the first professional shot “ROCK IN RIO 2017” to the previous work “ROCK IN RIO 2022”, but this time the new work arrived in about nine months.
This work, which conveys such a show, is a superb product that collectors around the world are delighted with. Since it is the latest delivery, it is natural that it is an official grade, but the special mention is a wonderful shooting technique. As I mentioned in the commentary on the FOO FIGHTERS edition “Shades 1795”, which will be released at the same time this week, “GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL” is sponsored by the prestigious BBC, and is also responsible for filming and broadcasting. Since it is a symbolic festival that has been deliberately invested in, the camera work is also a bet on the prestige of the prestigious family. One cut one cut is so cool that even a stop picture can be understood, and the switching that is completely synchronized with the song is perfect. At dusk, shortly after the park opens, the spectacle of a large crowd that makes full use of drone aerial photography is huge, and after dark, the video production on the huge screen is also powerful. It is a professional shot of aesthetics and sense because it is BBC that has run side by side with music history from the birth of rock to today.

These were not in the previous work “ROCK IN RIO 2017”, and they were all songs that could not be seen in the Pro Shot series “NOT IN THIS LIFETIME SELECTS”. In the first place, the performance itself is rare in such a repertoire. The STOOGES cover “TV Eye” sung by Duff is the first appearance this year, and “Down on the Farm” was played for the first time in 17 years since 2006. “Bad Obsession” since 1993 and “Pretty Tied Up” since 1992 were a big revival beyond the time of more than 30 years.
“Paradise City”, the encore last, is a must-see even more than such rare songs. Here, Dave Grohl of FOO FIGHTERS (this time under the name of THE CHURNUPS), who appeared at the same festival, participated as a guest. It will show off a gorgeous co-star that symbolizes this year’s “GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL”.

これが現在までに公表されている”We’re F’N’ Back! Tour”の全体像。本作の“GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL”出演は「欧州#2」の６公演目にあたるコンサートでした。初プロショットだった『ROCK IN RIO 2017』から前作『ROCK IN RIO 2022』までは５年のブランクがありましたが、今回は約９ヶ月で新作が到着したわけです。
そんなショウを伝える本作は、世界中のコレクターが歓喜している極上品。最新配信ですからオフィシャル級なのは当然として、特筆なのは素晴らしい撮影技。今週同時リリースとなるFOO FIGHTERS篇『Shades 1795』の解説でも触れましたが、“GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL”は名門BBCがスポンサーでもあり、撮影・放送も担っている。わざわざ出資もしている象徴フェスだけに、そのカメラワークも名門の威信を賭けたもの。１カット１カットが止め画でも通じるほどカッコ良く、曲想と完全シンクロしたスイッチングも完璧。開園間もない夕暮れ時にはドローン空撮も駆使して舐めまわす大群衆のスペクタクルも巨大ですし、とっぷりと暮れた後には巨大スクリーンの映像演出もド迫力。ロック誕生から今日まで音楽史と併走してきたBBCだからこその美学とセンスのプロショットなのです。

……と、このようになっています。「★」印付きの美味しいレパートリーが５曲も登場。これらは前々作である『ROCK IN RIO 2017』にもありませんでしたし、プロショット・シリーズ『NOT IN THIS LIFETIME SELECTS』でも観られなかった曲ばかりです。そもそも、こうしたレパートリーは演奏自体がレア。ダフが歌うTHE STOOGESのカバー「T.V. Eye」は今年初登場ですし、「Down on the Farm」が演奏されたのも2006年以来17年ぶり。1993年以来の「Bad Obsession」や1992年以来の「Pretty Tied Up」に至っては、30年以上の時間を越えた大復活でした。
そんなレア曲群以上に必見なのがアンコール・ラストの「Paradise City」。ここでは同フェスに出演していたFOO FIGHTERS（今回は変名THE CHURNUPS名義でした）のデイヴ・グロールがゲスト参加。今年の“GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL”を象徴する豪華共演を披露してくれるのです。
