The reunion tour “THE LAST DOMINO? Tour” where three people gathered again. The gift release decision is the best video that you can witness the spectacle beyond your imagination from the front row.
This work was shot at “October 1, 2021 Newcastle Performance (2nd day)”. That transcendental audience shot … maybe. I’m sorry that I suddenly became unreliable, but it’s such a magnificent view. Before the quality you care about, first of all, the position of the show. Let’s review the schedule published so far.

This is a panoramic view of the “THE LAST DOMINO? Tour” scheduled so far. Initially, it was only “UK # 1” and “North America”, but some dates have been postponed to 2022 (it seems that a positive reaction for the new coronavirus has appeared in the band). With the addition of the “Europe” leg of Continental Europe, the fun will grow until March next year. Even now, the stage has been moved to North America and the tour is in the middle of the tour, but the Newcastle performance of this work is in the early stages. It was the 9th performance of “UK # 1”.
Although it was recorded at such a show, this is a superb view of a super-individual group. The position is “front row, center. The Phil sitting on the chair is placed in the center of the screen, and the lining and back screen are completely symmetrical. As measured by a ruler, it is exactly in the center. And the audience is in the center. Nothing at all. I know it’s a real performance because the fingertips of the neighbors are reflected a little between the songs, but the scene itself is not so popular as if it were a rehearsal rather than a concert live.
Camera work further enhances the feeling of rehearsal. It’s completely immovable. As you can see in the screen capture, I have a wide view of the stage, but if I don’t shake it to the left or right, I don’t zoom. At the beginning, I became weak with “Maybe the audience”, but the reason is this. There is no presence of customers, and he just keeps monopolizing the screen image and light show of the super spectacle. It looks like a shot of the people involved to check the stage production.
It may seem like a boring cut-out video when you say “immovable / panoramic view”, but it is not. This tour has been talked about both of the stage production that was spectacular even while Phil was sitting, but this work grasps it from corner to corner. You can also feel the power of the movement and the hugeness of the contrast with humans. In the first place, it is not a band other than Phil that attracts with action, and it is clear that the photographer is aiming for it completely. It is a “dare immovable” super-individual image.
I have repeated “like a rehearsal” from earlier, but that is a metaphor, and this work is definitely the production. It is the voice that gives the feeling of production. The audience doesn’t seem to be in the sight, but the voice clearly records the mood of the venue, which is delighted by the many masterpieces and is very humorous to Phil. And, of course, it’s because the heat of the performance is also the actual performance. Here, let’s organize the set drawn by such an enthusiastic performance.

再び３人が集ったリユニオン・ツアー“THE LAST DOMINO? Tour”。想像を超えるスペクタクルを最前列から目撃できる極上映像がギフト・リリース決定です。
そんな本作が撮影されたのは「2021年10月１日ニューカッスル公演（２日目）」。その超絶景オーディエンス・ショット……です、たぶん。いきなり頼りなくなってしまって申し訳ないのですが、それほどまでの絶景なのです。その気になるクオリティの前に、まずはショウのポジション。現在までに公表されているスケジュールからおさらいしてみましょう。

これが現在までに予定されている“THE LAST DOMINO? Tour”の全景。当初は「英国#1」「北米」だけでしたが、一部の日程が2022年へ延期（バンド内に新型コロナ・ウィルスの陽性反応が出たそうです）。さらに大陸ヨーロッパの「欧州」レッグも加わり、お楽しみは来年３月まで伸びる事になりました。現在も舞台を北米に移してツアー真っ最中なわけですが、本作のニューカッスル公演はグッと序盤。「英国#1」の９公演目にあたるコンサートでした。
そんなショウで記録されたほんさくですが、これが超・個性派の絶景映像。ポジションは「最前列・ド真ん中。イスに座るフィルを画面ド真ん中に据え、ラインティングもバックスクリーンも完全に左右対称。定規で測ったようにピッタリとド真ん中なのです。そして、観客の姿は一切ナシ。曲間で隣客の指先がホンのちょっと映り込むので本番だと分かるのですが、光景自体はコンサート・ライヴと言うよりリハーサルかと思うほど人気が映らないのです。
さらにリハーサル感を高めているのがカメラワーク。まったくの不動なのです。画面キャプチャーをご覧の通り、ステージを広く全景で捉えているのですが、そのまま左右にも振らなければ、ズームもしない。冒頭で「たぶんオーディエンス」と気弱になりましたが、その理由がコレ。客の存在感もなく、ただひたすらに超スペクタクルのスクリーン映像とライト・ショウを余す事なく独り占めし続ける。まるで、ステージ演出を確認するための関係者ショットに見えてくるのです。
「不動・全景」と言うとつまらない手抜き映像のように思われるかも知れませんが、そうではありません。今回のツアーはフィルが座ったままでも見応えたっぷりなステージ演出の両方が話題となっていますが、本作はそれを隅から隅まで掌握。それもグリグリと動くド迫力と、人間との対比による巨大さも実感できる。そもそもフィル以外もアクションで魅せるバンドではありませんし、撮影者もそれを完全員狙っているのがハッキリ分かる。「あえて不動」な超個性派映像なのです。
先ほどから「リハーサルみたい」を繰り返していますが、それは比喩であり、本作は間違いなく本番。その本番感を醸しているのが音声。光景には観客の気配すらないのですが、音声には数々の名曲群に歓喜し、フィルのユーモアに大ウケする会場のムードがしっかりと記録されている。そして勿論、演奏の熱さも本番だからこそなのです。ここで、そんな熱演で描かれるセットも整理しておきましょう。
