来日直前！　滑り込みで予習するにも、ライヴの余韻に浸るにも最高な最新・極上映像が到着です。
そんな本作が撮影されたのは「2023年８月25日リノ公演」。その最前列オーディエンス・ショットです。本稿が公開される頃には、すでに日本初日までカウントダウン状態。そんな日本公演と本作との位置関係を知るためにも、まずは現在進行形のスケジュールから俯瞰しておきましょう。

これが現在までに公表されている2023年／2024年のスケジュール。本作のリノ公演は「北米#2」の17公演目。日本上陸の約３週間前にあたるコンサートでした。
そんなショウを伝える本作は、とにかく衝撃！　その要は撮影ポジションでして、何と最前列。目の前にいるのはメンバーだけで、視界を横切るのはカメラピットのクルーやセキュリティのみ。さらにスゴいのは左右ポジションで、ドラムキットを真っ正面に見据えたステージど真ん中。まさにライヴ１回に１人しか味わえない「究極ポジション」なのです。
そんな特等席……いや、究極席から見つめるステージは、まさに超ド迫力。例によってゲイリー・シェローンがキビキビとしたアクションで絶唱するわけですが、その一挙手一投足がＰＶばりのド接写で迫り、振り回す指先が顔に当たりそうなほど近い。もちろん、見せ場のギターソロでセンターにやって来るヌーノ・ベッテンコートも同様。特にズームもしないのに、まるで教則ビデオのように目の前で華麗な指さばきが踊るのです。
そして、予習として気になるのがセット。当店ではツアー第一報映像『READING 2023: THE VIDEO（Shades 1827）』もご紹介しましたが、来日を目前にして変更もあったようです。ここで比較しながら整理し直してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。『READING 2023』では新曲「#Rebel」でスタートしていましたが、現在はセット落ち。大定番「It (‘s a Monster)」がポールポジションを務めています。もちろん、単に減ったわけではなくショウの中盤に追加。新曲「Hurricane」が新たに演奏されるようになりました。
７年ぶりの来日まで、あと少し。その期待感・高揚感を掻き立ててくれる１枚でもあるのですが、それ以上に究極ポジション「最前列ド真ん中」の体験感がもの凄い。スゴすぎる。誰でもオーディエンス撮影でき、マルチカメラ編集も容易になった現代では、「ワンカメの通し体験感」と「激レアな特等席」が珍重されるようになりました。そう、本作は現代における「究極映像」なのです。もはやプロショットさえ足下に及ばない至高の映像傑作。どうぞ、存分にぶちのめされてください！

This work was filmed at the “Reno performance on August 25, 2023.” This is the front row audience shot. By the time this article was published, we were already counting down to the opening day in Japan. In order to understand the positional relationship between such performances in Japan and this work, let’s first take a look at the current schedule.

This is the schedule for 2023/2024 that has been announced so far. The Reno performance of this work is the 17th performance of “North America #2″. It was a concert about three weeks before landing in Japan.
This work, which conveys such a show, is simply shocking! The key point was the shooting position, which was in the front row. The only people in front of me are the members, and the only people in my line of sight are the camera pit crew and security. What’s even more amazing is the left and right positions, right in the middle of the stage with the drum kit directly in front of you. It is exactly the “ultimate position” that only one person can experience at a live performance.
The view of the stage from such a special seat…no, the ultimate seat is truly impressive. As usual, Gary Cherone sings with lively action, and his every move is shown in close-up shots just like the PV, so close that the tips of his swinging fingers are about to hit his face. Of course, the same goes for Nuno Bettencourt, who comes to the center with a highlight guitar solo. Even though there is no zooming in, the brilliant finger movements dance right in front of your eyes, just like in an instructional video.
And what I’m curious about as a preparation is the set. We also introduced the first video of the tour, “READING 2023: THE VIDEO (Shades 1827)”, but it seems that there have been some changes just before the tour comes to Japan. Let’s reorganize and compare here.

…and it looks like this. “READING 2023” started with the new song “#Rebel”, but the set is currently missing. The classic “It (‘s a Monster)” is in pole position. Of course, it was not simply reduced but added in the middle of the show. A new song “Hurricane” is now being played.
Only a few more days until I come to Japan for the first time in 7 years. It is a piece that stirs up that sense of anticipation and elation, but even more than that, the experience of being in the ultimate position “front row center” is amazing. Too amazing. In today’s world, where anyone can film an audience and multi-camera editing has become easy, the “one-camera experience” and “super rare special seats” have become highly prized. Yes, this work is the “ultimate video” in modern times. A supreme video masterpiece that even professional shots can’t match. Go ahead and get fucked to your heart’s content!
